Yeah, I was shocked at the end.

I like to think I'm very cynical but the reality is that I always try see the good in people. I thought he'd got drunk, was walking home from the pub and had a moment of madness. But he'd actually made a special effort to get ready and go out looking for something. Then you find out the history.

He actually wasn't a bad looking fella - early thirties, living with his parents, didn't say if he worked but he was so bleeping pitiful - he just came across as a bit of a loser who was down on his luck. But no, actually full blown paedophile.

It had overtones of the Anwar Rosser case to me - that's what was in my mind the whole time I was watching. This is a little known whole life order one and the sentencing remake are graphic so proceed with caution.

I had a look online, as I wanted to try and find out how he'd got into the house (did he break in or was the door or a window left open?) and how he knew the other victims (I suspect maybe he was in a relationship with their mother(s) at some point) but I couldn't find anything. I'm assuming they came forward following his arrest.....? He was only just sentenced this month as well (charged January 2025)

I can't see him lasting in prison. I was expecting to see a message at the end that he'd died in custody (suicide) I still think that will be the case.

Yes, definitely more to his story I think. Scenario you've said seems a possibility, otherwise very risky breaking into a house just because it looked like a kid lived there, seems too random. 2 prev victims too, wouldn't be surprised if more come forward after this. He'd obviously got some MH issues going on, but was fully aware his actions were wrong, but obviously couldn't fight his urges. Surely would have escalated to worse if not caught when he was. Agreed on his prison time, can't see him coping well inside.

Actually, one of the other victims was from 2005 which would have meant he was a teenager.

Re - The latest real csi episode

thoughts :-
I think he knew that what he had done was very wrong. In the interview i thought that showed some remorse from his actions but that he found it too difficult not too act on the urge ( Does this make it worse? to know your doing wrong yet go ahead and do it anyway). I also wondered how he had managed to get into the 11 year old's bedroom The window must have surely been open.

Hunting the Silver Killer, ITV last night.

Well, i don't know what to make of that?! Experts seem convinced at least 2 cases of murder/suicide are double murders, possibly 3 more cases the same, but police adamant no further investigation required! 😳

The book by David Collins goes into more detail. I’m convinced that they were murders and I can’t believe it isn’t being looked at again.

I'd definitely be on the side of them being murders from what I've seen. Hard to fathom why no level of review at all, just blanket denials from the police.

I'm convinced it was murder too

On Netflix there's a documentary about Grenfell. Its a recent one so talks about the enquiry that went on after.

Quick read indicates it's just on a technicality, that's all. Very likely he'll be convicted again at his retrial.

Bit confused by this part though:

"He added that the Crown Prosecution Service should take the "unusual case" to the Supreme Court before any retrial."

On what grounds? Is the judge trying to say the Supreme Court could overrule their decision today therefore a retrial won't be needed? 🤔

Not sure if this fits but have recently watched Trust me I’m a prophet on Netflix . There are many spoilers in the hidden bit.

The show is about Samuel Bateman - another FLDS nut job who is just another pedalo . He had 19 wives of which 9 were underage. The story is about a couple of who infiltrate the group and report him to the police ( umpteen times before they pulled their finger out and too action). The FBI got involved and there was a siege to arrest him.
The story ended mostly on a positive note that some of the wives escaped and now live a normal life . Which I think is brilliant. I also want to mention the bravery of Julia - who was the mother of 5 of Samuel’s wives who came forward to reveal what was happening behind closed doors. She also divorced her husband ( after Batemans arrest ) to set an example to her daughters . I can’t imagine how difficult this must have been for Julia - to be a mole and then have to go back to her home and pretend that she was still a believer of Bateman.
Thought it was a great watch

I went down a bit of a rabbit hole after watching this and the sheer depravity of Samuel Bateman was quite astonishing. I read all the indictments and court documents - the things that those poor girls went through It’s truly heartbreaking.

I’ve watched 2 episodes and I honestly don’t know if I can face the rest. Those women and children were/ are so so vulnerable.

Netflix has recommended I watch keep sweet pray & obey which is about Warren Jeff’s ( previous leader of the FLDS). Another disgusting cretin.

I have also watched a 10 part documentary called Secrets of Polygamy on the firestick which is just as horrifying, can’t believe this is still ongoing in this day and age 🙈
