I am unsure of the origins of it but I refuse to believe those who claim it doesn't exist...

I‘d put those who claim it doesn’t exist in the same bracket as those people who believe that the world is flat and that climate change isn’t real. It exists, I know people who’ve had it and I know of people who’ve died of it

I am however open to the suggestion that it’s either man made or was released on purpose, maybe not with the intention of it spreading globally but to control the population within China. Interestingly scientist assumed that the next great pandemic (it was very long overdue, they’ve happened since the dawn of humanity) would be a deadly new strain of flu, not a coronavirus.

I find some conspiracy theories quite interesting and I’ll open my mind up enough to have a think about them but I find some of the Covid ones scary because they’re putting lives at risk when people are refusing to believe it’s real so therefor not willing to take precautions. I read something earlyish on in the lockdown that said one reason people gravitate towards conspiracy theories about the pandemic is because it’s less scary to think that someone could be controlling all this, like the government, than to believe that completely random and uncontrollable things can happen. I’m probably not explaining it as well it was written!

BTW I heard on the grapevine that the government didn’t think that the public would respect a lockdown in the U.K. and were prepared to send the army in to enforce it if needs be. However, with a few exceptions most people did as they were told. When lockdown was first announced lots of photos of army convoys appears on social media, so I think there is some truth in that.

We’rent those old pictures of the army’s though and different countries because a lot of people found the original photos on social media which were from years ago and some were on the wrong side of the road for the uk ( think it was pics from Germany being used )

The ones I saw were definitely taken in the U.K. because you could see the road signs.I might have a look and see if they are still there actually.

I think we are sleep walking into a second wave personally, a lot of people think the risk is gone but the virus is still out there and it will return in the autumn/winter and if it follows the same trajectory as the Spanish flu(which is all we have to compare it with) it will be far more deadly than the first.

Those pictures weren’t real though so I don’t think they are backing up any claims.

The virus is very much real. I do not think it came from a market, they didn't even sell bats.
There is a very high risk lab in Wuhan who in 2018 were warned to up their PPE and safety or they could cause a global pandemic. I think the virus came from there and China knows it.
I think Trump is deliberately letting the virus spread like wildfire in the USA so he can call off the election last minute because it's too "dangerous" to have people all crowded together.

What do people think about the media reporting of it? Like is that what scares people so much? The seasonal flu kills thousands and thousands of people every year but those figures are not reporter in a daily basis and with 24/7 media coverage.

I don't think it is just the fact that it kills people. People who survive are dealing with awful symptoms 4+ months after, lung problems, heart problems, and neurological. They are seeing young people having strokes, etc.
I think it is because it is so unknown. We don't know if in 15 years' time, the people that had COVID and have damaged lungs could get cancer/some other lung disease, need a lung transplant, etc. The damage it is doing to people's lungs, even those who get it mildly is awful.

The theory ive heard is that it was accidentally or deliberately released from the Wuhan lab, was covered up by China, in a bid to destabilise the economy and also to get back at Trump. I think either could be plausible to be honest.

I don’t understand how people think it’s a hoax, it’s definitely real. But I don’t think it’s the killer disease it’s made out to be, now that the mortality rate has stabilised, initially they were predicting around 3-4% death rate which would be bad, but it was 0.26% in the US last month. To me it looks like it’s running the natural trajectory of a virus and is running out of steam, with or without a lockdown makes no difference. I watched something on the Spanish Flu the other night and that looked truly horrendous, as it mostly took out the young.

The other theory is that the virus is being used to push towards The Great Reset - basically socialism/communist policies that nobody voted for. Think greater government control, additional taxes and surveillance. This is the article I read on it, I’m not sure what to make of it. Maybe there is some truth in it. https://thehill.com/opinion/energy-...the-great-reset-world-leaders-radical-plan-to

I think the media coverage has had a huge impact. I’m not downplaying the seriousness of the virus, but the media coverage has scared people and is continuing to do so. I knew a lot of people who were struggling during lockdown and once they stopped watching the news/media coverage (or watched it once a day) they felt so much better.

I do find myself less scared the less I consume the media. I also don't look at the numbers as often as I did before.
