I feel like this thread should be #804

continue groundhog pandemic days here.

highlights from this week.
The media speculated. The media speculated. 20% of what they speculated about was leaked info. 80% was probably made up at the water cooler.
Questions were asked and avoided.
A lot.
Boris is announcing his roadmap on Monday the 22nd.
Right now it’s full of roadworks, they have new slogans..... something about being cautious 🤷‍♀️ Nicola still hates Boris. Keir is still a robot posing as a man (I need this to be covered on the conspiracy thread)
You might be allowed to drink coffee on a bench soon, with 2% milk, full fat is still banned.
We’re all living our best lives.
The end. Or not. Who knows 😐

I was quoted saying ‘spare a thought for supermarket workers’ in my post about children wearing masks in school all day. As I said, I knew people would have an issue with my opinion. I have great respect for supermarket workers, but they are adults not children, who don’t necessarily need to speak a lot. I know lots of people have to wear masks a lot, but my reference was specifically about children and teenagers in a school setting. I spare lots of my thoughts for lots of people.

Just got a negative result for my covid surge test through (I live in a Bristol postcode where they are testing for the mutant strain). Not surprised with result as I don’t go anywhere really and haven’t since March.

This thread is like the Ra-ra skirt, it keeps coming round and is always familiar.
Ive tried to spice it up with an intro 😕 and sure it’s the weekend, which means sweet duck all, let’s throw in a groundhog.

oh god are we getting into the Struggle Olympics 😂
I agree with you fully. It’s awful for kids. It’s not natural for them and it shouldn’t be.
They all need face to face learning but I’m glad the littles aren’t made wear happiness muzzels 😬 and I do call them that for kids

I really do hope they extend furlough. I know some people seem to have a problem with people on furlough for whatever reason and I'll never get why. I cant just pop off and get another job because I dont know when pubs will open. And I'll have to be available at the pub first, I dont know when I'll be working or how busy itll be. It isnt our fault, like any other industry, if we cant open. Why should we be left out in the cold because of.people moaning that theyve been working this and that but we haven't? My parents have worked every single day (bar foreign holidays) for the last 19 years. Yes including Christmas. Why are we suddenly not allowed this break? Why do people demand your life story when you say you're on furlough? It's no one else's business. Yes we are bored but this wont be forever and we arent fighting it, we deserve to actually spend time as a family like everyone else. It's our money being used for furlough too

Congrats im also Bristol and not mutant postcode and interested see results as Downend North is massively high.
Wonder how much new varient so avoiding Downend.

I agree with Andy Burham he talks sense.
Is there not issues that phizer such large packs and cold temp they more suited to mass vaccination centres.
Thats good news amount furlough if true as deadline for ending was so soon end.
Does this indicate the road map be very slow and media talking bollacks.

Boredom levels bad today and weathers crap.
Husbands turned into super nosy neighbour although they are acting weirder than normally.
The dog won't stop barking and growing at strangers or passers by.
I always say sorry its not best aggressive hes anxious.
As lockdown no 1 pup hes not had much socialisation and a few times at park bigger dogs tried to attack him.
Yesterday's he scared old lady at Park and she gave me foul glare even though I said sorry .
Arranged playdate for dog this weekend.
I'm more worried about the dog than the kids they turned into lazy nocturnal sloths.
Toddler wants go out more and feel bad for her she wants little freinds.

I’m south glos, not in one of the postcodes but my dad is, he wouldn’t go for a test tho as not been anywhere but he could still have got it from post/shopping/walks.

I live very close to this and hadn’t even heard! Still don’t know anyone with it either but hopefully the increased results show positive that everyone’s been going for the testing x

I do know of people I sort of know ie acquaintances from schools who love in bs16 that are postive however don't think they told which strain.
They just get told they postive.
I guess I'm fortunate not having test not that been far and trying to stay local to my own area.
I guess they announce results next week as I assume they rush through postives with genome subjecting.
My council sent email no amounts but 1 newspaper says 22 so gone up from 15.

You can collect from local libraries and drop you don't have to go to science park.
Bristol councill said 33500 tests done so far both councils combined 20% of those eligible to test.

Why is he extending furlough? Surely this means extended lockdown?
Not really, it currently only runs until the end of April, are you expecting every business open by then at full capacity? Restaurants and pubs maybe but night clubs, theatres... that’s only 2.5 months away, there is no way they will be fully open by then so it had to be extended until everything can open.

I get that but why not extend it 2 months. This is worrying

Theatres and music venues need at least 3 months notice to reopen, so when Boris gives the ok it won’t happen over night - furlough will help to keep them going 👍

So despite wales actually meeting the criteria for “alert level 3” by a long way... we’re still in level 4. I have no faith in any of these empty promises. Supposedly it’s because the NHS is still overwhelmed, but it’s overwhelmed every single winter - this isn’t a covid issue! My auntie had to have a non-urgent hip operation last year that was cancelled 3 times last minute due to winter pressures... this isn’t a new phenomenon! Only people are actually realising now what is going on.
