I'm a super traumatised woman, whose childhood was bleeping awful quite frankly, and have never done anything along the lines of what either of them did. If anything, I'm very keen to stress the opposite.

Are we meant to feel bad for Mark?? The horror and terror he meted out on his USA victims is awful and him being on a register for life is the least of it. He assaulted women nurses in this country too! Not one part of his actions or behaviour would make me feel safe around him, never mind have kids with.

All this repulsive focus on their trauma, none on not only Victoria's but the other childrens being consistently let down.
Especially this 'Oooh, social services bar is so high, birth families and babies should never be separated!'
Anyone who has ever worked with kids will tell you the bar is on the floor. There are birth parents with regular access to and living with kids they've strangled and hit with belts. There are kids in homes where they're *only* exposed to domestic violence, drug dealing, poor nutrition, parental mental illness and neglect, and everyone including the parents know they'll keep the kids unless someone develops a serious (not just casual!) smack habit.
I'm not one to say the system doesnt make mistakes or social workers aren't generally middle class gullible types who are easily intimidated/manipulated; but a general rule of thumb, if you lose contact, its because you literally refused to engage whatsoever. Like Constance and Mark refusing to visit their kids because of vaccination rules, or family court Zoom sessions. Or inconsistent contact to the point in which your kids expect you to cancel. How many more chances are people supposed to get? They had four kids they'd lost interest in, but let's just let them have a go with number five! If only she hadn't died of neglect, they could have proved social services wrong. 🤢🤬

Spot on! There are people up and down the land, traumatised, abuse survivors, mental health sufferers, not hurting anyone!
Constance and Mark were free to live their nomad life, isolated, whatever. Consenting adults, do what you want. But don't drag your kids along for the ride.

Horrible that the article refers to baby Victoria as “it” twice. And again saying Gordon was “her lover” when they were long term partners who lived as a married couple and had 5 children together. I always found it weird that she seemed to offer no mitigation when there were lots of avenues open to her. I wonder if she is going down one of these now but I don’t know how far that will get her when she didn’t mention anything the countless times she was offered an “out”. She needs to be behind bars until menopause if nothing else.

Permission to appeal isn't anyone taking any sort of view on the crime or conviction itself. I think this pair are pathologically selfish awful curns, but it wasn't a straightforward case (compared to something where someone has been murdered and you have really compelling physical, video or witness evidence) so being given the right to appeal is pretty normal. I doubt it'll be successful.

I've just seen this on our local news, what on earth is the point of allowing her to appeal when she's clearly never going to acknowledge her part in what happened?!
