I feel like I am being pushed off of Tattle. How come if I have any sort of opposing view be it Trump/Covid or anything not shared with the masses are my posts reported and deleted? I then recieve warning points and have privileges taken from me? Yet whoever is aggressively arguing at me because they don't like my opinion doesnt get warned or comments deleted?
I never even say anything bad!
I had a comment deleted the other day too re Chrissy Teigan. This is a conspiracy thread and all I did was post a conspiracy!

This is no conspiracy but this thread is full of people who...think outside of the box. What are your opinions on Social Media and its influence on Society?

Since the iphone was released 60 MILLION pre teens have died from suicide. Is that a coincidence or are these addictive hand fixtures seriously damaging?

I am 27 and have been off ALL social media for around 4 years. I had a really bad childhood and suffered from alot of MH issues and I feel when I fell down the social media hole it became a temporary hug for those issues. Every like I would get on a picture would, for a millisecond, make me feel ecstatic but then I would wonder, who will be the next like? Why are the likes slowing down? Why does that person have more likes than I do? It became a constant cycle of getting some sort of fix. It scares me looking back on it.

I realised this cycle wasn't healthy and on a whim, deleted everything. My MH dropped to the worst it's ever been. As if I was withdrawing. For about 3 months I was suicidal and anxious and felt completely hopeless.

I moved to a new place and starting going to the pubs in town and talking to people. Every single one would ask "whats your insta?" Or "lets stay in touch on facebook!" And when I would tell them I don't have it they'd screw their face up and ask why? And how do I live without it?

Its so bloody concerning!!! I realised after a while people would enjoy my company more because we actually had things to talk about that they didn't already know about me via social media such as a job, what i did this week, my stance on certain things...now I am thriving mentally - never felt better...but what I want your opinion on is WHY do you feel you need social media? Does it make you feel better? Do you have as much to talk about with friends anymore? Has your MH suffered with it? How would you feel without it?

I would also love your views on letting your child have a phone and social media, what age is appropriate now?

Myself, my son and my partner are moving up to a scottish Isle soon, we want to live as self sustainably as we can, homeschool our son (we will still encourage him to meet kids his age in the near town/social clubs etc) and have some piggies and cows to help out with the land etc but we have nobody around us for miles and we will only have the internet for work purposes (we don't tend to use it for anything else) so we're pretty isolated - that to me is perfect but whenever I tell people they think I am utterly insane because it's "taking 100 steps back". Why do people see this so badly? Why can't people cope with isolation anymore? Is that also down to social media?

Okay i am perhaps going barmy but I would love to hear some thoughts. The world is changing dramatically, and SO quick.
I don’t think this is strange at all, in fact I think lots of people have realised this year with lockdown that going back to basics and slowing down can actually mean a great deal. I’d love to do what you’re doing, I’m just not brave enough.

I came off Facebook a couple of years ago because it made me feel stressed if I wasn’t liking or commenting on friend’s things and all my local town chat pages were constantly full of complaints and arguments. Then all the Cambridge Analytica stuff cane out and I was done. Quite annoyed when not long after that, Facebook bought Instagram which was the one I stuck with!

I am planning to watch Social Dilemma next week with my son, he’s 13 and uses a few social platforms.

I think he's just fine.
I'm going to sound like a complete tin foil hatter but back in march Q insinuated that in October there will be 8 days of darkness before the great reset. The dates are aligning with this. I don't personally believe he has Covid but just gone into hiding due to safety concerns and to get his ducks in a row
I love your comment “I’m going to sound like a complete tin foil hatter”!!! Honey - Welcome to the conspiracy thread!! Also, I do hope that Trump isn’t really unwell, and there may be other reasons behind this, but, my gut feeling is telling me that he is very unwell. I hope I’m proved wrong, as iam a big fan of his.
Han, I’m linking this article for you about social media and mental health. And, btw, I’m so impressed that you have made a positive change in your life by getting off SM, that takes some balls to do, and then moving “off grid” makes me love you even more!! You are a true boss witch girl!! 😜

Yes, chillingly perfect isn't it? Outshines any of the "superstars" we have around nowadays. His voice makes me want to just close my eyes and sink into myself for a while, it's very peaceful!!
I know!! The guy is bleeping incredible!! He has a 7 Octave voice range, and his whistle register is OFF the scale!! I just showed the video to my hubby, and his jaw was literally on the floor!! He couldn’t get over the fact that this was sung live with no auto tune or other gimmicks!! Also, many people now say that he is the greatest singer in the world, and I have to agree, plus he’s 6”3, and very very cute!! (He’s also a model) and I’m low-key crushing on him ...😉😍🤗

I think if used in moderation social media can be good and useful in terms of networking etc. But I also think it can be incredibly damaging, especially to youngsters as it puts so much pressure on them in terms of FB likes or retweets etc. I also think that for kids who are being bullied at school there is literally no escape for them, they can be hounded not only at school but whilst at home which is meant to be a safe sanctuary. It’s heartbreaking.
I have FB and Instagram but I very rarely actually post anything myself but I do find it nice seeing what friends an family are up to and keeping in touch with old work colleagues etc.
In terms of your move it sounds idilic. Hats off to you for making the leap. It’ll probably be the best thing you’ve ever done. Make sure that you don’t forget about us tattlers and keep in touch 😊

I used to love being on social media having been around for the faceparty and MySpace and early Facebook days but mainly as I'd only spend about an hour a week on it max as I was too busy with real life.

What I dislike is how slowly it seems to have taken over everything. It's like you cannot get away from it.

I do like keeping up with small and mostly local businesses on Instagram but I have no friends or family on there.. I know we have a similar function here but I find the "likes" aspects so depressing... Half the time I felt I had to like a post else I'd offend the other person (or along the lines etc) and I found that it has in the past affected my mental health.

I do use social media still as we have a family business and although we don't rely on it for custom directly, it does help with showing customers who we are, what we do and that we are active (which in turn helps our organic Google rankings etc) and honestly if it wasn't for that I'd be off completely as I don't find social media to be a positive experience overall.

I also don't like the security aspect of it knowing what we know of Facebook and I'm soooo peeved that WhatsApp is also included in that. If it wasn't for WhatsApp I wouldnt even have a smartphone as that's what most of my friends and family use. I only have 1 friend who uses text message.

My little one is only a toddler and honestly... As much as I've embraced technology in the past - I'm not sure I like where it's all heading and I fear for the future in many ways. I really try to be off my phone around our little one but he is already picking up bits and I know it's unavoidable and maybe a bit nostalgic but I long for the days when we didn't have all this bollux.

As much as I enjoy threads such as these and being able to see so many different viewpoints and speak to people across the pond.... A life off grid also calls me nowadays

Edited to add that I feel much better since I stopped actively posting on social media from a personal perspective. I cannot quite explain it but I always felt a kind of pressure when posting and i'd always be checking for likes etc. I also found i could spend literally HOURS doing nothing except scrolling... And scrolling. I've wasted so much time but these apps are good at that... They get you hooked!

I'm now trying to wean myself off the smartphone when I can and I switch my sim card to a non smartphone for at least half of the day and I've bought a digital camera (that doesn't connect via WiFi or Bluetooth) to take pictures so I don't need to take my smartphone out for that... I've also done this to avoid the new track and trace codes so if anyone tells me to scan then I can show them my very very basic 3g phone lol... Only thing I'm finding is that I feel uneasy being disconnected from the Internet which is such an odd feeling and something I'm working on

I watched Social Dilemma with my daughter on Thursday. It’s very interesting and certainly a bit of an eye opener. I’m on Twitter, Insta and obvs here. I’ve never been on FB - just didn’t fancy it.

Well yes, I wish him well too (much as I would for anyone) But there's a bit of a leap from that to being a 'fan' of someone who (amongst other things) openly brags about sexually assaulting women.

If anyone needs a laugh, please watch this reaction video to that guy Dimash, it’s hilarious 😆!!!

Honestly, this guy Dimash is literally amazing!! He can hit a D8 note, which is probably the highest note imaginable, it’s so high it has to be measured in a frequency wave. His whistle register higher than Mariah Carey’s!! And that is the conspiracy, how can a grown 6’3 guy even do that!! I know that some choir boys can reach whistle register, but never a man!! - Anyway, this video is funny, and let me know what you think about Dimash, has anyone here heard about him before? I love love love this guy - 😍 (He’s also hella cute as well..😉)

Also, he’s singing live, which makes it even more crazy!! No autotune, no lip syncing, just the voice...

I know!! His voice is (apparently) the best in the world, and he was only “discovered” in 2017 when he competed in a Chinese talent show. Which he didn’t win because he wasn’t Chinese!! He’s actually from Kazakhstan, but speaks Russian, Chinese, and some English. And the video above is so funny, I lost it when that guy fell off his chair and his brother is like “I’m not helping you”!!! 😜😍😘

Ooh, this is interesting. Apparently there have been several recent assassinations on Trump, and some people are saying that the “hospitalisation” is not due to covid, but something else entirely...😳
