Has anyone had lip fillers while doing Invisalign?

Thank you both! this gives me hope. Having them in is completely fine but taking them out is awful. I only have mine for 6 months thank God!


I've had fixed braces and am now having invisalign. So far, I've had no pain whilst i've got them in. It feels odd but there's no pain at all. Taking them off is the only pain i have at the moment, and my teeth don't need to move around a dramatic amount so I'm hoping the pain will be minimal for me. Metal braces are more convenient in terms of no need to take them off constantly to eat etc BUT the wires in my metal braces used to break all the time, they used to dig into my mouth and the pain of them was horrific when they were tightened/first put on - I struggled to eat properly for days

My dentist said they could get a perfect result with fixed braces and 80% with aligners and that the difference would only be noticeable by professionals. I'm 39… so the thought of metal braces isn't fun. But the thought of subsisting on water for 6 months is not good either. I'm borderline underweight as it is. If it's painful to remove the aligners I'd just not eat for days. I have to weigh the pros and cons and ask the orthodontist a lot of questions next week.

Ooh @xx3221 that gives me hope thank you! I'm starting a new job next month and although I know I'll have my retainers in, I'd love to be done with the actual braces part before I start!

Ugh, my teeth were sooooo straight a few weeks ago when I finished my original set, and the ortho said I could be done if I wanted but she was certain she could move one tooth so it was straighter. I'm on the penultimate refinement tray and they're wonky, like my bottom teeth look like someone has drawn a zigzag. I know I have one tray left but surely that can't be fixed in one tray?!

I had braces when I was a teenager, didn’t wear the retainer afterwards and my teeth have moved , I’m thinking about having Invisalign, where would I start?

From the few cases you've seen, do you have an idea of what could be done to fix it? Does their suggestion seem appropriate? Obviously you're not a dental professional and I don't mean to imply that I just mean, is it their solely their attitude that has bothered you, or is it the intervention they're suggesting too?

Don’t worry you won’t be it’s just coz I where I live everything kind of shuts down in August for summer holidays so it took ages to arrive , plus I went on holiday myself, but if you’re in the UK then I’m sure they won’t take longer than a week or so! It’s a horrible wait with the old retainer though either way

I have my last appt on 5th Oct but i have one super stubborn tooth that won't move so im going to need refinements. Cba for this to happen to me

Can anyone offer advice?
I’m looking into Invisalign seriously and today I’ve phoned around 4 platinum profiles on the website for my local area and each one gave me a different answer.

First one said it’s £40 for a tooth check up first to make sure there’s no bone issues

Second one told me it’s a free consultation by zoom and then I go in to meet them

Third one is £100 for a first consultation and then we go from there

And forth one told me that the particular orthodontist I was after, doesn’t do Invisalign despite being on the bloody website.

Tbh, I got the best feel out the £100 one as after doing research on him, he’s been doing orthodontics since 1995. The others just look like they are straight off an advert for Instagram.

Can I ask did you ladies go with a dentist for your invisalign or an orthodontist?

I think it has to be with an orthodontist? I went to my childhood dentist but they have an outsourced orthodontist. They are the best invisalign providers in my city too

Anyone got a sore jaw after taking their aligner out? The past week or so I’ve been taking mine out then realise I can’t open my mouth fully to eat it’s really annoying and sore. Just on the back left top jaw. I’ve tried opening my mouth really wide when taking it out incase it’s jarring due to being too closed but doesn’t make a difference. Stays like that way for ages too. I’m on the home straight with mine, only about 6 weeks to go I think but this has me worried I’ll be stuck with a weird sore jaw.

I've had attachments a couple of days and oh my life I HATE THEM! My smile is ugly af and they hurt and are so hard to take out and put back in. I had filing on some of my teeth too so my mouth is killing!
I'm going back in a few months and apparently my teeth should be in their final position by then - I didn't realise it'd be so fast! Ortho said she'd like to do some more filing then to make them more symmetrical but to be honest I'm not fussed, especially if I'd have to keep the attachments on longer for refinements

I forgot to add… I’m sooo hungry. I’m usually snack all day at work.

It’s a pain having to take them out to eat. I usually have a fair few teas and coffees throughout the day but dentist told me not to take them in and out. Apart from the pain I’d say that’s the most annoying thing. But I can see and feel a big improvement already so it’s definitely working

I cant always brush my teeth before putting them back in after eating which is why i soak them twice a day. But yeah, in terms of staining etc I was never concerned as you are changing them every couple of weeks .. mine haven't stained at all and I've had this set on for a week so far

Good point I work from home so never thought about that, handy for being able to brush lol

How many trays do you both have for your invisalign? mine is short term too (I think) And i will have a fixed retainer. I would definitely push for one

I’ve had 14 weeks and then 10 weeks. I’ve finished now and just waiting for my bonding to be done and then I get my retainer.
I think I will try and push for a fixed one.

How many aligners do people normally have to get? I was told I would need 10 aligners wearing each one for 2 weeks, not sure if that’s a lot or too little lol

I’m interested too. I have a slight overbite so just want them straightened a bit. Nothing too drastic. Prices with smile direct club looks reasonable. I too don’t want to have to spend a fortune either.

Has anyone used smile direct club? I’ve been looking online and it seems so convenient but I feel like I’ve read somewhere that they are not registered dentists or something along those lines. My teeth aren’t bad just need a little bit of straightening so I don’t want to spend a fortune if I can help it.

I’ve almost finished by dental work having Invisalign and then a dental implant. I’m really happy with it. The only downside is the cost of the upkeep of it all. X2 hygienist appointments a year, special flossing products, whitening to keep the same colour as my ceramic crown, retainer cleaner etc.

I definitely preferred Invisalign to fixed braces that I had as a teenager.

Does the tea not stain your aligners? I’m not much of a tea or coffee drinker but I’m very into squash, howevrr I’ve never tried drinking it with the aligners in for fear of staining them purple

I haven't had them in long enough to notice any staining yet. All I know is that being told it's OK to drink tea is going to make this whole process much easier for me. I hope they don't stain .

I used smile direct club last year and it worked perfectly, cost me £1500 so much cheaper than Invisalign which is what I was originally going to go for. I was recommended sdc by a work colleague who sold me after she showed me her before and after pics, I went for a free consultation appointment and got my teeth scanned and I got the aligners posted out 3 weeks later and teeth were straight after a 16 week course.

I’m getting my first Invisalign trays on Monday mentally bracing myself for the pain!! Any tips?!

Don’t worry. I can only speak from my experience but I felt mild discomfort with each new tray for a day or so, but because the change is so gradual , you barely feel it. My dentist would extend the time between new trays if I felt uncomfortable which could be an option?
My teeth felt way more sensitive when I did the whitening afterwards. It really is short term pain (discomfort) long term gain.
