I thought the whitening would be at the dentist as well. I did mine at home and put little dots of gel on my retainer and put them in over night (can’t remember how many nights). I was happy with the results but it made my teeth SO SENSITIVE during the process.

Yeah I was surprised but thought as long as it works I don't mind really. Just worried about how sensitive my teeth will be; they've been more so than normal with the invisalign which I was told was normal but I'm a bit nervous about this than the actual straightening for some reason!

Wow that's really quick! My dentist said mine will take a year as my teeth are moderate/severe. I start in June but keep trying to talk myself out of it, I know I'll regret it if I don't do it though!

It's so worth it! I waited for years to do it & wish I had just gone for it years ago. You will not regret it, just get the first/second tray out the way and it will fly by.

Only thing is I realised I have no idea how to smile while showing my teeth as I've always covered them so need to remind myself to smile more now!

Sorry I didn’t see this! It wasn’t that bad honestly, I’m just quite dramatic about things most people would see as a mild inconvenience The worst bits were I couldn’t bite properly with them on so some food was really hard to eat, couldn’t chew gum, sometimes I got ulcers and occasionally I’d have to go for an emergency appointment cos something had snapped (usually because I’d been eating something I shouldn’t!) . I’d do it again in a heartbeat though as the results were amazing

thank you! Yeah the eating thing is weird.. I can’t imagine eating with a cover over your teeth?!

I’ve booked an Invisalign consultation for the start of January so will be interesting to see what they say...

Has anyone used smile direct club? I’ve been looking online and it seems so convenient but I feel like I’ve read somewhere that they are not registered dentists or something along those lines. My teeth aren’t bad just need a little bit of straightening so I don’t want to spend a fortune if I can help it.

Got my first set of aligners today. Had them in for about 5 hours and all I can say so far is ouch

Is it achy the entire time the aligners are off or just while taking the thing off? I need to decide between fixed braces and aligners and I am currently at a loss.

I cannot lose any more weight and I live off tea so the whole 22 hours water only thing sounds so bad.

Has anyone here had lingual braces? I feel like I’m going to need fixed to have some changes to my top but I don’t want them on show at all, so was thinking about adding them to the back instead using lingual.

I have an overjet of 9mm and I was advised that six month smiles would be more effective for me than Invisalign and would achieve better results

I’m starting Invisalign in 2 weeks once my dentist is back off her holidays bless her, I’ve only got a 3 month course as it’s v minor overcrowding due to wisdom teeth (also had braces as a child) but they offer “free” whitening after but this freaks me out as I don’t want to damage the integrity of my teeth for something that isn’t really necessary? Has anyone had that as part of their treatment and have strong feelings either way?

Has anyone done this with crowned tooth? Just wondering if it’s possible? (I know I should speak to my dentist and/or a dentist that works with Invisalign )

When I was reading the T&Cs they mention crowned teeth and that they don’t accept liability for any damage caused to them by the pushing / pulling of the process. I’d imagine it’s done on a case by case basis but doesn’t sound as if it’s a no go?

Mine was relatively simple and took about 10 months I think. Cost about £2000

Do you drink hot drinks with them in? I’ve heard the heat can warp the plastic but I desperately miss my morning coffee!

I've drunk tea all the way through. Just don't do it to Teflon requirements and you'll be fine. My dentist who has Invisalign in herself advised me.

Is there any other alternatives to Invisalign? Like a cheaper version of it but still does the same job?
I’m going to book a consultation for it once I’ve seen my own dentist.

I’m assuming the longer you need it, the more expensive it is? And If you have it on the top and bottom teeth?

My dentist said Clearcorrect is a slightly cheaper version of Invisalign but does pretty much the same job and follows similar processes. I’ve not researched it though!
Interested too in the cost query… I was quoted around 3k for Invisalign (with teeth whitening and the retainer included) and I assumed that was start to end, regardless of how many trays you need but now i’m questioning myself!
I’m hoping to go ahead with it before the end of the year.

I think they are great. I had my half way check last Friday and cant get over the difference already. I’m so happy with them now so can’t wait to see what they will be like by the end


Maybe give them a ring, they will probably tell you to wear your last aligner until you get in to see them

I had the same thing. Really painful jaw on one side and could barely open my mouth. My dentist just said to use the chewies less often and that I might be grinding or clenching my teeth at night. It’s gone now

Finally finished Invisalign today! 11 months later (3 months longer than planned). Going back in 2 weeks to have my attachments removed and my retainer fitting. Can’t have whitening or bonding until next year as I’m pregnant! Bit gutted it won’t all be done at the same time but it is what it is!

Wait what!! I’m due mine off soon but I’m very early preggers.. (so early I certainly wasn’t planning to tell the dentist ) I didn’t know this!

Has anyone gone with clear alignments and regretted not going for fixed?

I snack often and always have a drink on the go. I’m happy have water but I’ll struggle on the snacking, especially now while pregnant then feeding. I’m not fussed about losing weight through diet so feels like it’ll be a struggle. How have people found that side of things?

Exact issue I’ve had. I had near perfect teeth until I was 22 when I had all 5 of my wisdom teeth removed, within a year my teeth were fucked, they went crooked at the front and I eventually ended up with an alignment issue and couldn’t even chew properly lol.
I started Invisalign a week ago and I must say, I am impressed so far!

omg five?! Where was the fifth one if you don’t mind me asking? I’m so lucky I just had two on the top, one had come through without a problem but the second was impacted. I asked them to take the fine one out when I got the bad one removed anyway, tbh glad I did now as I wouldn’t feel as confident in Invisalign if I had a mega tooth with the potential to move others still lingering about!

And what you’ve said re: crowding getting worse with age is exactly why I’ve done this! My MIL told me it gets worse as you get older and it can even become painful, so I thought I’d sooner do this now than be a pensioner struggling with teeth pain tbh. Mega good luck with yours xx

Bit weird but have any of you kept your used trays? I kind of think “but I might need to repeat the process in 10 years time” but I do appreciate I have hoarding tendencies
