I noticed no mention was made of the canvas roof on the outside decking area being replaced with the giant umbrellas he was advised to splash out on in the first place. They couldn't help showing this had been done though by those inevitable shots they had to include of people dining out under them on opening day.

It's been reported that Clarkson is worth about 50 million quid, so I could only think that his constant bulking at the price of things on these large scale projects is purely for theatre. With that kind of backing these costs would be peanuts.
He didn’t replace the sail with the £40,000 jumberellas. He put in normal parasols.

Binge watched this over the weekend, and I am looking forward to season 4.

Tried to get my mum and her Mrs on board, but they can't stand Jeremy, got left on read when I tried to appeal to their animal loving side by telling them how he has been in tears several times over the animals.

The two things I'm most impressed by, like many people who have either witnessed or have first hand experience of farming, are the real life every day issues experienced by farmers. Obviously, as with any reality tv show, there will be some dialogue/edits purely for TV, but the vast majority of every single episode is exactly what every single farmer in the country is dealing with every day 365 days a year.

The other thing I'm impressed with is the fact he doesn't shy away from the ultimate fate of livestock. Yes, it can make for difficult watching, but I do believe it's important that any kind of farmer is up front about the lives their animals live - and that includes the end of that life.

Also have to praise Kaleb. What a smart dedicated young man he is, and on Jeremy's part, many men his age would find it difficult being told how its done by someone so young. I love that he makes it obvious he knows kaleb is the knowledgeable one there..

Bring on season 4.

I like watching the programme but I don't understand the love for Clarkson. He's made a massive business off the back of this and I don't know how much actually transfers to farmers other than spreading awareness farming is hard.
For example I live in a farming area, where there's tourists and it's in a different part of the country to Clarkson's farm.
I've heard people go in the local shop and ask if they sell Hawkstone. They don't, they sell loads and loads of different local products including beers and ciders made by small companies, arguably much less generic than Hawkstone too. But because they don't sell Hawkstone they don't buy anything. Shop keep says it happens more than you'd like to think.
Admittedly I've not started this series yet but it would be great if the message was go and see what your local farmer, food producer or shop is doing rather than one long Clarkson advert.
I think the love for Clarkson is because he’s been clear from the start he bought the farm for tax reasons and only started farming himself for a bit of craic/to make a TV show. Which is why it’s great to see his perspectives evolving over the seasons of Clarksons Farm, to see him become someone who genuinely really cares about farming and agriculture. He, Charlie and Kaleb have been actively lobbying for policy change to help farmers and the shift in his views on the environment are incredible.

I don’t think it’s really his responsibility to promote every business going or to restrict sale of his own products to benefit other producers. That would cross the line from supporting co operative farming into nannying farmers and that’s just not his thing at all.

Finally finished series 4! Really enjoyed, even though it was an extra stressful season. A few thoughts:

Loved Harriet, what a breathe of fresh air. I hope she pops back next series. Agreed with everyone about Kaleb's attitude this series being a little off-putting.

I want to add to the love for Cheerful Charlie! What a bloke ♥

I thought it was weird that everyone working on the pub knew about the bank holiday deadline but no one checked their own calendars and realised they were going to have to open a week early?!

Does anyone else worry about Jeremy's health?? He's smoked all his life, he's 65 years old, not in great shape (sorry Jezza) and he's putting himself through a lot of stress and physical labour. I was worried he'd keel over and have a heart attack when he got super angry about the cattle gate thingies being left out by Kaleb. He can't even lie down to try and fix his tractor without his neck getting fucked!

Loved the fate of Richard Ham - what an adorable little pig (nice to see the real life Richard as well, that chrome tractor was a beauty)
Jeremy nearly had a heart attack not long after filming. He now has a stent and a slightly healthier lifestyle.

Remember a while back when Lorraine Kelly went to court to claim she didn't need to pay more tax as she played a character on TV? well, Clarkson is one person where I would say this was true. He is, of course, that man but is a canny and shrewd operator and knows his audience very well. One thing I like about him is he seems to know his weaknesses and doesn't try to hide them. He also knows he needs Andy Wilman.

Clarkson's Farm to me is a lesson in how to make a show about something. It's about a farm and is a few seasons in so, in effect we've seen it all before but it manages to get the storytelling and pace right and focus on the right characters to pull the audience along.

It's a shame he had the bust up at the BBC in a way as it's perfect public service broadcasting. As many others have already said, it's taught me far more about farming than school or Countryfile ever has.

Wow I really disliked Kaleb this season so far. The tour looks absolutely dire then combine that with his terrible attitude when he came back. Not sure if that was real or if he was doing some terrible acting under the instructions of producers but either way, all it did was make him look bad. Would have been so much better if he had come back and had a laugh and a joke about "the new kaleb" instead of a strop. What did he want Clarkson to do? Struggle on his own for however long he was away for

I've just watched the first two episodes. Absolutely love this show. I also want pigs. Love pigs.

I bet Cheerful Charlie never envisaged being a world wide star when he was doing all his farming qualifications ... he probably never thought he'd be known as Cheerful Charlie either. :ROFLMAO:

I absolutely adore Lisa. There is nothing precious about her at all. More than willing ( and more capable) to get stuck in.

Jeremy has done a lot to raise awareness of issues in farming and educate people on where their food comes from. He can’t help that people then expect to see Hawkstone everywhere but as cowtastrophe said, they can put up signs or suggest customers try something similar.

I’m so glad it’s back it’s hilarious. Gerald is my favourite. I love Kaleb though “my son is foreign he was born in Oxford” 😂.

I think she’s great. I didn’t like how they made her look a bit thick to begin with presumably because of the way she looks.

Why 'should' there be a message on the show telling viewers what to do? It's not public service broadcasting fgs

I come from a very rural area that is not the well-heeled south where Jeremy is and farmers in my neck of the woods have nothing but praise for him, for raising awareness of their way of life and the problems they face now.

I work in central London with lots of people who have never even been on a farm, and they talk about farming issues having never previously known of them.

I‘m a bit baffled by Kaleb’s tour. It looked really shit - how did so many people pay to watch it?
I never understand stuff like this. He had a book too which people bought. I love Kaleb but on the farm, with Clarkson. I wouldn't pay to see Clarkson chat for an hour, never mind Kaleb. Wonder if Gerald has thought about a tour? :ROFLMAO:
