This thread feels like it was a Christmas present to us all, directly from Mulholland drive & the same sex flirting thread.

Haha on what planet does any mother seriously behave like that 😂 its all codswallop for attention and to look like Mary Poppins. I love my children and I'm a pretty good mother but I appreciate time alone in the car to have Metallica on full blast or to clean the house without turning around and theyve tipped out the lego or to just catch up with friends.

A yule log is all about the quality for those chatting yules. I always thought I hated it, my mum would buy Icelands own as a kid and it was a dry Swiss roll. A refrigerated yule log, my favourite being M&S is absolutely top tier desert with some pouring cream ❤

This attitude will save you a couple panic attacks at those trying times when your kids are at school or playing without you. 🥴

Probably unpopular opinion but I find the supermarket yule logs expensive and a disappointment. It's not too hard to make your own - make a brownie in a rectangular tray and fill it with cream and chocolate ganache and then ganache the outside

I think it’s obvious you’ve got some issues yourself. Also referring to your kids as your “babies” is an absolute ICK.
Yea the kids are that young its not gonna make any difference for them. Definitely not gonna cause any trauma when they grow up cos mum had to nip out to pick up grandad for xmas. If I genuinely didn't want/couldn't go my partner would have to do it, simple as that. The fact he is refusing to pick him up while getting his own dad is weird to me.

Pretty sure this is the husband’s plan:

“Take car. Grab my dad, leave wife’s dad in care home, go back home, have a nice pint and a slice of Yule log, and wait for all of this to blow over.”

Probably better to have him so they can have pictures of them with their grandad on Christmas even if they don't remember it at least they have pictures to look back on

Exactly, the kids are not gonna remember the xmas that mum was absent for a few hours.

They probably won't even notice in all the excitement. This isn't about the children.
Hit the nail on the head. Both the parents are being selfish.

It still makes no sense why the husband can’t pick-up both their dads at the same time. That would just be much easier all round for everyone.

Instead they’re going to do 2 separate journeys, and drag the kids along in the car?

I don't think he is being selfish really unless they split it and one does pick up and one does drop off?
Even if it's on the way to pick his dad up how likely is it that it's on the exact route? Probably some sort of small diversion that'll add on extra time. And if it's on the way and the care home is a 40 minutes drive on its own then his dad is further than that. That means the husband is missing out on Christmas with his kids for longer?

In an ideal world OP's husband would do the morning journey, picking up both dad's while OP stays at home with the children and preps for lunch. Then OP could take both dads back in the evening while the husband baths the kids and does bedtime. Kiddies get to stay at home all day with their new Christmas goodies, and both parents get to spend a decent amount of time with their kids and enjoy Christmas. OP wants to be told that she's not selfish for leaving her dad in his care home and not leave her (2 and 5 year old) "babies". I'm sure there is more to the situation than the drip feeds have let on, but that seems the gist of it to me.

Or an alternative would be all piling in the car and going to pick up both dads.
Both dads and mum have a skinful while the hole who only wanted to pick up his own dad cooks dinner .
The hole drives both dads home while mum tidies up and baths the little baby and 5 year old baby child .

I thought there’d been an update & OP decided to respond to everyone’s advice 🤣

Now, we’re talking about Yule logs & hamsters! I can’t stand either of them tbh!

On another note, Christmas Day TV schedule looks awful!

I might’ve misremembered, but I thought OP said her husband would be driving past the care home to pick up his dad? So that’s why I thought he was being selfish.

One parent could pick up their dads and the other one could take them back, which has already been suggested a few times.

At least then the children could stay at home with one parent, but apparently that’s not allowed? 😅

It was never stated if the other dad was near said care home or not! Just that it was 40 mins each way for the OP

So the moral of the story is, the wise men can't make their own way. Joseph isn't very helpful. And Mary doesn't want to leave the manger.
duck it just cancel Christmas 🤣🤣
