I like to imagine somewhere in his care home her dad is posting on tattle right now “my selfish twit daughter and her mole husband won’t collect me to spend Christmas Day with them despite both driving and their kids being old enough to be without mummy and daddy for a couple of hours”Because you say it’s ’killing You’ to drive 40 mins there and back to your dad to leave your ‘babies’ but you leave them to go to work / school for full days. Just really bizarre
Same. My dad died last year. What I’d give for just one more Christmas with himPoor dad
I would give everything to spend just a minute with mine![]()
I'd probably say something was on the way if I was passing by the town/village etc, I just think it would be very lucky if it's on the exact route without any diversion when it's 40mins away. Even 5mins would add an extra 20 mins overall drive for the husband when he is already driving more than 40mins each way for his own dadI mixed up the dadsIt was this comment I was thinking of, she said her husband’s dad is on the way to the care home. So it must be fairly near? Who knows!

Op has said she doesn't want to leave the kids at all, even if it's with her husband. So her husband would be doing both trips. Except he won't because he's refused to do the extra driving to pick up her dad. So she's doing it instead and taking the kids with her. After he's picked up his dad(?). Or is she picking him up too? Who knows. It all makes perfect sense..In an ideal world OP's husband would do the morning journey, picking up both dad's while OP stays at home with the children and preps for lunch. Then OP could take both dads back in the evening while the husband baths the kids and does bedtime. Kiddies get to stay at home all day with their new Christmas goodies, and both parents get to spend a decent amount of time with their kids and enjoy Christmas. OP wants to be told that she's not selfish for leaving her dad in his care home and not leave her (2 and 5 year old) "babies". I'm sure there is more to the situation than the drip feeds have let on, but that seems the gist of it to me.
I think it’d still make more sense than both of them driving. OP said the care home is 40 mins away, so it sounds like the husband’s dad lives closer. He probably just can’t be arsed.I'd probably say something was on the way if I was passing by the town/village etc, I just think it would be very lucky if it's on the exact route without any diversion when it's 40mins away.
