Went to the Range this morning and they had some Christmas stuff out. Immediately texted a picture to my sister who replied ‘it’s August 😡

In other news, the budget for my sister’s Christmas present has been halved.

Well, I've text the sister and thanked her for the kind invitation but we will be staying home! I've told the whole family they're welcome to pop in if they wish, hasn't gone down well as we live in the middle of nowhere, at least an hour and 20 minutes drive for them and they cant drink 🙄 thanks all for your help. Now that I've made the decision I feel so much better for it and a bit excited!

Catherine O’Hara has passed away today. :( Both of Kevin’s parent are no longer with us. Will make me feel slightly melancholy when I watch Home Alone this Christmas.

I got this for a £1 earlier. Fairly sure it won't be bettered as a bargain this year but I'm delighted.

I miss places like Woolies, HMV and Debenhams at Christmas time. The displays that they'd update accordingly. Trying to find the best value perfume sets for presents as I got older. Being allowed a tot of Baileys in the hot chocolate once school was out and so much spray cream your nose would disappear.

Shiny, happy tinsel everywhere. Cheesy decorations up, especially in the 90s before everyone was just too cool for such fun. Colour schemes that were dictated by taste, or lack thereof, and being terribly disappointed by the fact you weren't allowed to decorate the tree.

It wasn't even like my childhood was great, because it wasn't, but the few photos we have seem like a moment of time you look back at through a smudged window. Details not clear but overall pleasant.

I’m in an early days relationship with someone who I like a lot and he knows my love for all things Christmas. We spent the 28th together and did all things Christmas for us which was lovely. He gave me some beautiful skincare and perfume and told me to remember every day has 24 days.
When I arrived home there was a delivery of a bottle of port that we tried together on a distillery tour in Edinburgh which was delicious and an advent calendar of red wine and port. He told me he admits it was on offer but that he thought it might help keep the spirit alive just a little bit longer 🥰

I feel so weird that Christmas 2025 is over already, it came and went so fast I feel disorientated. There was no excitement, atmosphere or anything this year just a lot of very worried people freaking out about bills, it's awful.

I'm trying to keep hope that things have time to get better in 2026 but it's hard.

Anyone else feel a mental breakdown coming on?? Spurred by the state of your house, new things still needing a home, catching up on washing etc, back to work feeling like you’ve had no break, diet culture creeping back in making you feel like an utter slob after a month of “treat yourself” culture, and the usual comparing everyone else’s life to your own, trying to figure out how the money you were paid before Christmas is going to last until the end of Jan.

Oh the Christmas spirit has well and truly vanished 🙃

I do a standing order into a savings account every month so it’s just part of my monthly living expenses. It’s one thing I won’t compromise on - I will reduce subscriptions and other spend but I won’t change my Christmas savings. As a kid my mum couldn’t work for health reasons and my dad was out of work for years. There were times I sort of knew we were “poor” yet I never ever felt like that at Christmas and I always want my children to feel it as a safe and comfortable time of year.

I’ve just booked a day off work in early November so I can go Christmas shopping 😄 I do this with my mum and sister every year, we go shopping on a random weekday so it’s less busy, have lunch and a wine and get festive!

I’ve finished my Christmas shopping (apart from chocolate, and gift cards). Haven’t bought any wrap yet but I’m so relieved. Baby is due on 1st October and I wanted it all done for then! Can’t wait to choose some lovely wrap and wrap with my baby by the Christmas tree.

Bringing the mood down sorry, I lost my mum in December last year so Xmas was a whirlwind, I think this year will be harder as theres nothing to occupy me, but I'm going to try and keep the bloody magic going because she would give me a right what for if i didn't!

Do you ever forget what you've stashed away? I think I would.
One of my friends buys herself a new present each month, wraps it up, and stashes it until December. Then she gets the surprise at Christmas and thanks herself for past generosity. Living the dream 😅

Just booked a candle light concert for 19th December with a string quartet playing Christmas songs and songs from Christmas movies, can't wait! 🌲

I am so blooming excited for Christmas! It will be my first Christmas as a Mrs - we get married after the summer and have a safari to Kenya planned. Our eldest daughter is almost 3 and she talks about Father Christmas ALL of the time, and also The Snowman. She woke up from her sleep the other day and said he had come to visit her, he held her hand and they flew high in the sky together 🥲. I think it’s going to be extra special this year as she’ll have an understanding of what’s happening and will be fab at opening her presents etc. Ahhh I tear up just thinking about November & December. Other than my partner and our girls, Christmas is what I live for!!!! This thread just makes my heart sing whenever there’s been new posts 💕💕💕 X

I was planning to make Rum and Raisin ice cream this morning (recipe from recipetineats) but accidentally picked up the Christmas cake brandy and soaked the raisins in it instead of rum 🤦‍♀️🤣

I added about quarter a tsp of mixed spice and a pinch of nutmeg and it’s now Christmas ice cream! Apparently it’s better than rum and raisin!

To the angels who posted on one of the threads last year about freezing mince pies, I’ve had the best couple of days of snacking and it’s all because of you 🩷 🥧
