Christmas is a weird one for me this year. My mams been in hospital for the past 4 months and won’t be out for Christmas. I’m in the middle of trying to feel grateful that she’s here and at least I can visit her in hospital as I know some people would give anything just to see their mam, but also feeling sad for her/myself/my family that we’ve not been able to do all the lovely little Christmas things we usually do and trying to accept Christmas is just going to be crappy this year. We’ve already started talking about next year, I said this year was just a warm up for next year and that we’ll just have to go all out next Christmas. I’ve bought some nice Christmassy candles to put away for next years Christmas dinner table. My tree is up at home this year and I’m going to try and watch some of my favourite Christmas films and
I would like to know this too please. It used to be the cheaper crackers, I picked up a box last year (admittedly without looking at the back) and it was all paper mottos, which is great for the environment but I want a tiny plastic chimney sweep goddammit!!.
The best cracker gift I got was one of those spoon measuring things, I use it all the time!
I like that one but it did annoy me how the woman got away with stealing his gift and credit card!
I lost my mum on the 1st December unexpectedly and I know she wouldn’t be impressed with me for not putting up my tree, especially as my son loves Christmas, so I’m just navigating the best I can this year.

I'm so so sorry, I lost my mum suddenly near xmas a couple of years ago and felt exactly the same way. It was especially hard because she had gotten all our presents so we didn't really want to open them. Try to be kind to yourself and think of how much your mum would want you to celebrate xmas for her. I won't lie to you, it will be different for sure this year but she will always be with you and even though xmas won't be the same, you can still have a nice festive period as time goes on. Last year was far more relaxed for us as it wasn't hanging heavy over us.

I watched It’s a Wonderful Life on Amazon Prime last night and they had cut out all the suicidal scenes and most of the angel scenes. That’s literally what the whole film is about!
I feel you, my Dad passed away on 23rd Nov and he would be furious if I wasn't wearing Christmas jumpers and putting the decs up. So I've done it, it doesn't feel right, but maybe it will eventually. Sending you lot of love

My Tree arrived Today & I know wherever Mum & Dad are they will be laughing at me decorating it, as it's massive (had to get in the 6-7ft section) & i'm 4'10 so i'll be on Chair/Stepladders

This time of year is a difficult one where loss & grief are concerned, it's naturally a reflective time of year anyway which just heightens all those emotions. I lost my Mum last year and these dark nights etc remind me of all the caring I did and travelling at both ends of the day in the dark to be there for her. She was incredibly ill for her final Christmas and I remember looking at her on my sofa, knowing the end was close and it would be her last but trying to put a face on for everyone etc.
