That's what I do for mine. No neat piles or different wrapping paper for each child. I wrap all stocking presents too

I ‘artfully’ arrange the presents randomly under the tree, but our youngest can’t cope at all with that level of disorganisation, so spends ages rearranging them into piles for specific people before anyone is allowed to open them. I definitely don’t do this deliberately to keep her busy for twenty minutes so we can start necking Bucks Fizz and shoving Pringles down as our Christmas breakfast, just like the baby Jesus would have wanted.

My parents wouldn't put the presents in piles for each person. They were just random I remember loving picking up a present and having to check who it belonged to. Then at the end finding a small present that was missed in all the mess. I think I'd prefer this to nice neat piles added to the excitement

I’m kind of a ridiculous person.
I had the exact number of gift tags I needed while wrapping presents tonight. For some unknown reason I got quite anxious that I was going to mess one up and ruin all my presents matching.
Then i thought what if I write Pootrick instead of Patrick?
Why the hell would I write Pootrick? Why would I even think of that? Least of all because I’d be writing Pat.
Anyway, long story short, I was sweating when I got to writing out Old Pootrick’s gift tag.

Christmas is a weird one for me this year. My mams been in hospital for the past 4 months and won’t be out for Christmas. I’m in the middle of trying to feel grateful that she’s here and at least I can visit her in hospital as I know some people would give anything just to see their mam, but also feeling sad for her/myself/my family that we’ve not been able to do all the lovely little Christmas things we usually do and trying to accept Christmas is just going to be shitty this year. We’ve already started talking about next year, I said this year was just a warm up for next year and that we’ll just have to go all out next Christmas. I’ve bought some nice Christmassy candles to put away for next years Christmas dinner table. My tree is up at home this year and I’m going to try and watch some of my favourite Christmas films and

I had my niece after school today for a few hours and spent that time trying to get some intel on what's going to be on her Christmas list

She got really excited about these collectable keyboard things that that make a clicky sound that you can make keyring out of that lots of girls in her class have. I texted my sister to see if she was planning on getting any because there's not many sets available, so I didn't want to accidently get the same one. My sister replied saying no one is allowed to get them for my niece as they're "just noisy bits of plastic that I dont want in my house"

I couldn't click "place order" on my Smyths basket fast enough

Edited to add: it's like a music workshop type of thing, not actual school, school. My sister's not that mean

My mum's foreign so we always opened the presents on Christmas Eve. She wouldn't countenance any notion of even saving a few for the morning because who cares what your friends were doing? We also had one of her friends staying with us every Christmas so the living room was out of bounds until she arose. (I would bet money that she deliberately stayed in bed just to be spiteful. I also judge the fuck out of her ruining kids' Christmases for years on end). Shan't begin to go into the desperate poverty of it either.

I think that's why it's such a big thing for me as an adult. I can do what I want and if it means walking the dog in festive pajamas after necking half a gallon of prosecco based Bucks Fizz, then that's what I'll do.

We used to have my dad's parents stay with us from when we were aged about 6 and 4 and we were told that we couldn't make any noise or play with our presents until they were up. Used to really resent this, why on earth stay with 2 small children at Christmas if you didn't want to be disturbed

I’ve started watching Christmas films and already got decorating envy.

Those houses covered in warm white lights, American small town style had me googling BnQ prices last night and I’m eyeing up the holly tree at the end of the garden for a beautiful fresh green foliage banister garland

Who am I kidding, we all know I will run out of enthusiasm within 30 mins of entering my loft screaming where did those boxes get dumped. Things will be thrown at a tree and I will spend my time mainlining mince pies instead

Love this thread so marking myself in it! I've had a rubbish Monday, hate my job etc etc and all that's keeping me going just now is the thought of finishing up for Christmas. I really miss having children at Christmas time, not my own but nieces and nephews, cousins etc. Everyone in my family now live further away and do their own thing which is fine, it's what you want to see your family doing but it'll be a bit bittersweet this year for me and will just be me and my dog! I am still looking forward to it though but will miss the santa magic. I'm considering putting my decorations up this weekend just to cheer myself up a bit although I'm going to leave my tree for a while longer yet before putting that one up

Yesterday we put our decorations up. It’s just me and Mr G now our kids have left. Instead of a happy time it was just non stop gloom from him. Our tree is too big, the zip has broken on the tree bag, we have too many decorations and lights, at our age we should get rid of most of them (we are early sixties and active, he runs regular ultra marathons) and randomly our house is too dirty! Etc etc.
I felt all my holiday cheer getting sucked out of me. I went very quiet and I think eventually he twigged. Or he’d just run out of complaints.
Luckily my younger child took me to see Wicked in the evening which cheered me up a bit!

Are yous getting Boxing Day off? Hopefully. I see Morrisons are opening this year. Absolute disgrace. Everyone should be entitled to Christmas Day and Boxing Day with their family. Not to mention Christmas Eve night

I lost my mum on the 1st December unexpectedly and I know she wouldn’t be impressed with me for not putting up my tree, especially as my son loves Christmas, so I’m just navigating the best I can this year.

I feel you, my Dad passed away on 23rd Nov and he would be furious if I wasn't wearing Christmas jumpers and putting the decs up. So I've done it, it doesn't feel right, but maybe it will eventually. Sending you lot of love

I got a new car this week to replace my 13 year old banger, it has DAB radio.

Its the fizz that gets you! I like prosecco but asti is so much sweeter and easier to drink. No headache for me the next day either.

I've probably mentioned it on Tattle before. I was drafted in as a last minute sub to accompany my mum on her posh works do. Unfortunately we were separated at the table......and there was Asti that I was drinking like lemonade. I became the life and soul of our table - unfortunately full of big-wigs. I have an awful feeling I was flirting with the men.
I was dragged out of their by the scruff of my neck when mum copped on.

I always had a stocking outside my bedroom door, I think I used to open it in my bed as soon as I woke up. Then when my little brother came along (hes 11 years younger) he used to bring his stocking into my room and we'd open them together. Then allowed downstairs around 7.30/8.00. I'm 39 now and my mum still does us stockings. The sound of picking a stocking up with the rustling of wrapping paper is SO nostalgic, I love it My mum has always made Christmas feel magic, even now I'm 39, she always makes it the perfect day xxx

Same. I wrap absolutely everything. Even down to a tube of buttons I just love watching them seeing all the presents and then watching them open them and mine are big now. Always wrapped in Santa paper too and always will be
