We've booked to go to Thailand on 3rd January to avoid the January blues - Last year I was so miserable all of January, felt fat, skint, constantly baltic... so for january coming we just thought fuck it :D

I think everyone has started Christmas early this year as they are so fed up. So nearly everyone will probably be ready for Christmas at the beginning of December, and the knock on effect will be that they will be able to enjoy all the Christmas events and get togethers, as there will be no need for panic buying, fretting and last minute shopping. Instead we'll be able to relax with friends and enjoy being together.

Ah this is lovely!

Many years ago, back in the 1970s when you could still drive down Oxford and Regent Street, my dad would drive us up there once a year to see the lights. I still remember my nanna saying one year that she'd never been to the West End see the lights (she lived in East London but never ventured out of the local area) so we took her with us ❤
Sadly she died a few months later so we never got to take her again. Glad she got to see them once though.
Aww 🥺
Now this is the type of thing John Lewis should have made an advert about 🥰

In regards to Xmas weather and whether it will be a white Xmas or not, well, apparently this is the first time it's snowed in November since 2010, and that year it was a white Xmas, so fingers crossed we get a white Xmas. 😁❄☃🌨
Gonna be honest, no idea why anyone wants a white Christmas. We have 80 miles to travel on Christmas Eve, 20 on Boxing Day morning and 60 Boxing Day evening (I'm working 23rd and 27th). If it snows we won't get a chance to see any of our family as the roads near where I live are impassable in snow. Got stuck in them a few years ago when I was pregnant and wouldn't risk it with a toddler. Snow is just shit IMO.

Thank you :)

My excuse is I'm away this weekend, not home until Monday and next weekend I'm out on our family pub crawl all day Saturday meaning I willbe horizontal on the sofa all day Sunday so I have no other time to do it (that is what I'm telling myself!) - plus we go on holiday on the 2nd January so the tree's will be down around the 27th December to get the house back to normality before we go - want to make the most of it. I just love fairy lights 🤣
I can’t fault your logic dammit.
Down with this thread, it’s making me feel far too festive.

There's a house near me who've gone full on house lights and it made me smile when driving at night so I'm sure others will do the same with yours
Aww thanks. I live in a cul de sac so no passing traffic except delivery drivers 🤣 had a parcel today actually when we were in full flow decorating, Christmas music blasting, Christmas jumpers - poor guy looked absolutely horrified 🤣

A US influencer I follow has a Spode Christmas mixing bowl/ jug - like the one pictured below. It is gorgeous and has reignited my love for Christmas themed crockery ❤ Would love one of these jugs, it's something about the shape and pattern. However I'm not sure I could stop at just the jug 😂😂

On the subject of hub, he just announced "You are going to turn into a mince pie" as I was shoving one in my face then declared I was on number 9 and it isn't even November yet. Any lawyers here who can confirm this is grounds for divorce? Surely so? HE IS TALLYING MY PIES

A big shoutout to retail staff who have to endure the same Christmas songs on loop for about 8 weeks.

My daughter worked at New Look over a Christmas period and she said they had about an hour's worth of the songs on a loop, all day every day. Even now she'll say 'this is a New Look song' when she hears specific Xmas tunes. :ROFLMAO:

You know you’ve got a problem with you’ve already bought your wrapping paper and matching bags/bows for this year but then you see some other wrapping stuff you love in a completely different colour scheme so you buy that for next year 🤣👀

When I worked in Poundstretcher we got sent tapes to play from head office. From October until end of December we had to play the same one on a loop. It was shit cover versions of all the christmas hits sung by people who had no place being anywhere near a recording studio. I was ready for quitting by the end of day one.

I hate sad Christmas adverts. I'm sorry but life is hard enough, I don't want to burst into tears every time the TV comes on.
Same. I’ve lost my Dad and I miss him every single day, I don’t need Christmas or his anniversary to suddenly think about him. Just let people be happy please!!!! It’s another reason why I hate New Year. People become so morbid.

Some of my christmas presents for people have started to arrive!

Absolutely buzzing. Thought a little annoyed Molton Brown packaging said MB on it, thankfully my partner wasn't in.

Can not wait to finish my shopping then get all my wrapping paper, Christmas tin out which has scissors, cellotape, gift tags etc.. Get myself perched in the living room, some Christmas songs on and a drink while I sit and wrap everything. One of my favourite things in the world to do :)

This thread is giving me chronic festive anxiety. I have bought precisely 0 presents, let alone wrapped anything.
How are you all so organised?

I have bought a few gifts so far, a few heated throws which I think will go down a treat. Actually looking forward to xmas this year, last year we lost mum end of November and it felt like we didn't really know what to do with ourselves. Dad seems to be really embracing it which is really nice, it will always be different now but I think we can have nice xmases.
So sorry for your loss, Cherry. I lost my Mum last April so I’m in the same situation. Last year was the first Christmas without her and we were all still stunned, I think. This year I’m really looking forward to Christmas. It will be different but we can start new traditions and make it nice. Enjoy the run up to the festivities everyone. Eat the chocolate, buy all the beautiful lights and tinsel and hold your loved ones close 💙 x

I bought Simpsons Christmas pyjamas the other day when I went Christmas shopping.
Tried them on last night and the trousers are so big they won’t stay up 😱
So now I’m going to have to go back and exchange them. And while I’m there, I’ll probably have to look in the shops I didn’t get to. And that sounds like a lot of work so will probably need to go to Costa for a bit of energy.
I’m really unhappy about how this played out 😉
