ohhh another uni student here, how are you handling online lectures etc im finding it hard tbh and i also have assignments i need to start working on , whenever i sit down to do them i dont have any progress anyway im kinda nosey. what are you studying if you dont mind me asking
I work full time and my course is part time via the Open Uni, so the lectures have been online for the duration of my course, so I have nothing else to compare it to tbh! I'm studying a Bachelor of Laws LLB, I'm in my 4th year of 6 (as I've done it part time, it would have been 3 if I did it full time)! What are you studying?

My brother is studying Education at uni and isn't keen on online lectures either. Just remember lectures provide you with the basics and then it's on you to develop your learning. You also have office hours for lecturers so take advantage of that. First year can be difficult but it does get better. Good luck. 😊

I am having the day of all days. I just want something to go right for once. The hospital here are raising a safe guarding concern about an incident that happened last night between me and an agency member of staff. This hospital have always been wonderful, they have great staff. Just a not so nice agency staff member last night and now it is born into something huge.

We are playing bingo this afternoon though so that is cheering me up.
I'm sorry to hear this but I'm glad they're looking out for you. I hope you enjoy bingo and you feel a little brighter. 🥰🥰

Ahh good luck with the rest of your course! :) Generally my experience with Open Uni has been positive, the tutors are helpful and if you can get in touch with other students on your course (there's always loads of Facebook/Whatsapp groups) then that's really beneficial as it gives you a chance to discuss the materials etc. It is hard work though. Finishing a 9-5 job then coming home and having to work on a uni course is a lot of pressure and there's a lot of stress around assignment time as it sometimes doesn't feel like there's enough hours in the day. That being said, the tutors are really understanding that OU students are often working alongside their course and do give extensions for assignments where you have legitimate reasons.

I’m having an absolute nightmare of a day. Then to top it off I was late to my orthodontist app, hit my car door into somebody who was parked next to me (It could never have left any damage as it was hit so lightly, nothing was on my door or theirs) and the passenger opened the door going “ERRRRR WHAT DO YOU THINK YOURE DOING” I felt like 🖕🏼 And walking off. I said dunno what you’re talking about and walked into the dentist 🤭

@WilmaHun snapppp, we are doing the same course! But mine is a 3 year undergrad. It is so hard but I so hope it’ll be worth it in the end

You did just grow an entire human, birth an entire human and keep an entire human alive though.

----

And thanks all for your kind words, I didn't mean to be so vague earlier, I was just sad and fed up of talking about it.

Basically, last night an agency member of staff put her hands on my chest to try and pin me (bear in mind I am paralysed with a complete c5 injury) to the bed, she then got a picture of my son down from the wall and put it right in my face telling me "look at him, just look at him, he is your reason to get better" (not once in the 260 days I have been in hospital has a day gone by when I have forgotten about my babies at home) and refused to put my property back on the wall. She then realised I had pressed record on my phone and had this all on video so she tried to pin me down again and get my phone from me. Then she took my call bell away from me and repeatedly refused to leave my room.

Anyway, they have made the safe guarding referral now and she is automatically suspended pending the investigation.

I just feel bad because she is not a bad person, she has worked here before and it has been fine. Last night was just beyond bonkers.

I am sad. And scared because you are so vulnerable when you are like me and stuck in bed. You have complete reliance on your caregivers being decent, good people, I can't get up and walk out like I would in a bad hotel or restaurant.

Just meh.

@ordinaryjelly i don’t know what to say, what an awful situation to be in and what an awful thing to have happened. That’s really upsetting knowing you’ve had that happen to you - let alone how you must feel having gone through it. That shouldn’t have happened. I wish I could give you a hug and buy you a Nandos. I hope you’re okay XX

@ordinaryjelly oh my goodness I am so sorry that this happened to you. It’s a good job you pressed record or she may have denied it all. Hope you’re ok

Oh my god @ordinaryjelly that sounds horrific and scary. I’m so sorry you went through that. She sounds crazy! I’m glad they have made the referral. I hope you’re okay 💕

@ordinaryjelly I cannot say much that anybody else hasn’t, but that is awful. What a horrible thing to do somebody that is trusting you to care for them. I hope you are okay xx

Thank you, you lovely lot. I am lucky to be surrounded by a wonderful team here who have done nothing but check in on me all day and gave me a lovely bath to help me distract and cheer up. This hospital is wonderful and one poor agency staff member doesn't detract from that.

On a cheerier note, is anyone up to anything exciting tonight?

I’m not up to anything exciting but when I get the baby in the bath/dressed into his pj’s I say ‘arms up’ and he repeats me but sounds like he’s going ‘ah duck’ ‘ah duck😅

Im glad they are taking it seriously and sorting it out. I’m beyond angry that someone can behave like that towards you in such a vulnerable position. Hope your bath is nice and you can forget about it a bit. If we were closer we’d totally be having a tattle tear up in your room for sure.

Tonight I’m putting my living room back together a bit after the decorating. It looks lovely but is drying at the mo so haven’t got a proper final look at it yet. My little bro is a good ‘un coming over to do that on his day off. I’m also going to have a bath and rest a bit as I’ve still got a sore throat and feeling tired (negative LFT).We had a kiddy tea tonight - fishfingers, alphabites and spaghetti hoops, chefs kiss.
