Amie got a navy blue Chanel mini. Why???? 😬😵 The colour is atrocious and is hardly usable. She already has a black Chanel mini and red mini and those colors are way more versatile. It's like she likes collecting items. Then she also buys Tory Burch flap bags which are Chanel dupes (but hardly cheap)...

This woman is going to go broke by the time she is 40. Imagine if she has a kid - the kid will have no $ for school trips, extracurricular activities, sports and music lessons, because mom likes to collect Chanel handbags - not saying those are necessities but it'll be nice to give those if you can afford it.

i dont think Amie wants a kid purely because they will inevitably divert her spending money away from herself. she puts on a sweet act but she clearly lives in lala land and is completely self absorbed. i reckon Dan is only putting up with her habits because she’s currently earning money from it. she just better be careful not to end up like Elle Florence 🙄 (no shade intended to people who do not aspire to have children- i myself do not have kids even though i am married and in my mid 30’s)

Amie’s life is an empty one. She clearly loves the attention from fans on her bags and Pinterest pretty home but what’s the point when she has no friends to go out with to enjoy the finer things in life (given she’s all
about luxe) and no friends coming over to the flat for dinner etc even pre-covid. Family doesn’t count, it’s friends who tell us what kind of person she is and it’s clear she has none. Even her ‘fans’ have to be coaxed - through Chanel/ YSL giveaways - to up her followers’ count. It’s so pathetic.

OK Amie says the blue Chanel was a gift from her brother because she helped him with something. I still think the money could have been better spent. I'm not here to tell other people how to spend their money but I don't think it's worth it. Any bets Amie will be selling that blue handbag soon?

I lived in a lot of A-list major cities and there are only a few places / restaurants / occasions where you can even wear a Chanel bag - i.e. Michelin star restaurants and New Years eve boating on the harbour kind of thing. It looks ridiculous wearing a Chanel (that you can hardly afford) to some random location like Costco. And why would you want to show off your money to others so openly? Is it even safe?

My immediate thought re the dark blue Chanel bag was - and no offence to the brother as I don’t know his affordability - (1) could he afford it, and (2) I’d feel awful if someone thought that a Chanel bag was the best way to thank me for something. It’s like nothing else would be appropriate or good enough.
In terms of where you’d use Chanel bags -you see them quite a bit in London, whether you’re off to work, shopping or dining. But Amie is in the middle of nowhere so those bags are likely to go only as far as Costco or a local pub where everyone’s in wellies and tweed jackets. I don’t think there’s any issue re safety but she’ll look out of place with her flowing skirts, off shoulder tops and Chanel handbags.

Amie also has a house that she insists on filling up with useless trinkets and gives little regard for practicality (architectural structure, flow of space) just so she can live out her pintrest fantasies.
I 100% agree with this. It really bugs me when she buys tons of useless trinkets just to fill that entertainment unit.

I could be totally wrong, but I think you see more Chanel bags in rich suburbs/ritzy small towns like Palo Alto, Orange County, or outside Dallas. Places where people have lots of money but are more concerned with typical signifiers of luxury than actual fashion. You would never see someone walking down the street in San Francisco wearing rock studs, for instance; that person would be instantly pegged as a tourist. I've rarely seen someone carrying a Chanel bag in my city, or other big cities I've visited (or I could just be running with a different crowd, which I'm very okay with!); unless you are a very rich, mature lady, it looks gauche and out of place.

Amie is boring and way too concerned about keeping up appearances but Elle Florence is like all that times ten and is a complete train wreck. Didn't they used to be friends, before Amie's channel got way more popular than Elle's despite being a much younger youtuber? And I bet Elle is seething at the fact that Amie is married to Dan, since Elle has been throwing herself at every man with a pulse since she started her channel over ten years ago but there are no takers.

It's pretty common to see Chanel and LV in the cities I've lived in (New York, Tokyo, London, etc.) so I wouldn't say it's a touristy thing. But I do think you're more likely to see less obvious designer brands as well like Proenza Schouler, Chloe, Celine, and indie brands that have high quality stuff but people don't really know about. I see a lot of LV monograms and damier prints in upper middle class suburbs, and some Chanel.

I stand corrected then. I clearly don't hang out in the same places as people who wear Chanel 😂 When I worked downtown, I'd see LV monogram totes on practically every corner, and the occasional Goyard; they're expensive, but people still feel comfortable enough to wear them on the train, for example. At nicer/trendier places, the fanciest bag I'd see was the Gucci Marmont, but even that was unusual. Once I saw someone carrying the Loewe puzzle on the train platform and it was like spotting a unicorn. But in general, folks in the Bay Area are not known for being fashion-forward; it's all about Everlane totes, minimalist bags, or backpacks.

I feel like it's more trendy to wear startupy sort of brands like Everlane in the Bay Area than actual designers.

Doesn't Amie now live in the middle of nowhere? Not sure what she's hoping to do while wearing many Chanel flaps. She really should've bought a few less Chanel flaps given she already has so many and spent that money on better furniture and upgrading her home. It looks like a pinterest board and Ikea showroom got married, without the coziness of Ikea catalogue rooms and the nicer furniture pieces of a good pinterest board.

Yup. She's not as problematic as Elle Florence, but it's her aspiration to look luxe/inspirational to the world that's annoying. She could've gotten nicer furniture, instead of that cheap-looking vanity for instance.

Omg, i can’t stand that tacky vanity set-up. That mirror is so flimsy it looks like it’ll fall off any time and the Perspex unit for her makeup is just ugh....Amie - that’s why people have drawers; you don’t need to show every single thing you own. It’s all so pretentious.
And those eyebrows are still hideous .....

Yeah. I don't know how much her brother is making in the USA but if he's not super rich, then a few thousand $ is a lot of money. It would break my heart if my relatives were impelled to scrimp and save to buy me a Chanel bag as a gift. I'd rather want something cheaper and more meaningful, like something handmade than a Chanel bag. Amie says it's because she helped her brother with something - but isn't that what relatives are for - it's not like she gave him a kidney or something (just saying).

My relatives and I have helped each other with moving, living rent free in basements when they were out of jobs, lent a few thousand bucks when they were broke and in need, etc...that's what relatives and loved ones are for. But this labor of love never needed Chanel bags in repayment...

i think Chanel bags have become so expensive for what they are now that i would be uncomfortable to accept one as a gift. we dont know what her brother’s financial situation is, but what type of favour would attract a “thank you” in the form of an almost $6000 tiny handbag?? (i’m quoting AUD, probably USD would be slightly less). my theory is she bought herself a new bag, and knowing the backlash from fans framed it as “a gift” so they would be less likely to criticise.

and yes, i guarantee she will sell this in a years time. if her brother really did buy this, this would make her a terrible person (she has already sold various bags gifted to her by Dan).

I seem to remember her brother giving pretty splashy gifts in her Christmas vlogs (god, I hate myself for even watching those), so I think he's comfortable enough to afford a Chanel bag. I think she might just come from a materialistic family; I don't mean they're greedy, just that giving expensive gifts is their way of showing love.

I think she’ll sell the brother’s gifted bag too as she only likes gold hardware on her bags, whereas this has silver. She’ll sell the Chanel Deauville tote as well that Dan bought her last year for her birthday given she bought a few LVs right after and the D tote has hardly been used. This is one person not worthy of presents - she’ll sell it if it’s not good enough which is awful given the emotional sentiment tied to the item.

I also wonder when she’ll take the plunge and buy some diamond stud earrings?? She was thinking of getting them from Costco a few years ago. I have nothing against Costco but I can’t fathom how someone who spends tens of thousands on Chanel bags and other luxe items is unwilling to purchase decent quality studs. I suspect this is down to her thinking that people aren’t able to tell if they’re DeBeers or Costco, which is rubbish as you can spot good diamonds from a mile away.

fully agree, its been mentioned here before that Amie doesn’t spend money on fine jewellery because they don’t scream “designer”. her only personal jewellery splurge is a juste un clou bracelet because it is obviously Cartier. she could easily have a nice pair of diamond studs and a floating solitaire necklace she could wear almost everyday in lieu of some of her chanel bags 🤨 heck, for someone who is so into “ladylike luxe” fashion i’m surprised she doesn’t wear a nice pair of high quality pearl earrings (she claims she only wears her CZ stud earrings - while she “saves up” for diamonds) 🤭

Your average person can’t tell high quality precious jewelry from big box department store jewelry or even some fancy costume jewelry, and that’s why Amie doesn’t spend on it unless it’s something tacky and obviously designer like the Cartier clou bracelet, which every YouTuber and their mother has a version of. She likes Chanel, LV, and YSL styles because they’re so obvious with their branding, with the logo smack in the middle of the item for Chanel and YSL or it’s all over the bag like the monogram or damier prints. Amie is all about presenting an image of being wealthy to whoever believes her. Of course, the truly well off can spot her tackiness right away since those people don’t hesitate to spend on things like expensive appliances and designer furniture, tasteful furnishings, and eating well but Amie doesn’t bother with that because it’s much harder to show off to your average Joe. Amie’s life can be summed up by Ikea furniture, scrimping and saving on food and other daily use items, and tacky designer items with logos that ensure everyone knows “Amie is carrying designer.”

Ahahaha! I totally agree with you. I live in a very touristy area, and, yes, the only people with Chanel bags are the tourists and they do look a little silly.

I’d say this pretty much sums up a lot of people on social media, no? There is logo mania everywhere you look, and yes, it’s tacky AF! Oh, and fully agree on splurging on furniture rather than a bag. You use your furnishings pretty much every day and the quality of your surroundings is so much more important than a bag you only carry to impress others. I can’t imagine living in a house like Amie’s, but I guess it suits her well — it’s just as tacky as she is.

I'm still shocked Dan is ok with all this, but maybe he makes or contributes way less than Amie and therefore feels like he has no say over their household expenses? I wouldn't even live in Amie's Ikea/pinterest apartment with the fake silk flowers and random clutter that's supposed to appear "luxe," and I'm a woman!
