Ooh, I never knew there was a Celebrity Masterchef thread, I hate watch the show for the most part as it's so much simpler than the regular competition, the bar is on the floor!

Thoughts so far...

Jake Q is so far in the closet he's found the Christmas wrapping paper

Emma was robbed IMO, I think she did well but they seemed to know who they wanted to put through

Tamer I thought seemed arrogant but was so much more humble in the professional kitchen

Jamie did amazingly, respect to him for his attitude all the way through

Edith has the patience of a saint!

Rochenda is a ray of sunshine, so different than the characters she plays!

They must have some access to recipes for the cloche challenge, who knows the recipes for flat breads or home made pasta? If you've never prepared a scallop you can't just make it up, they must tell them. I think the old identification challenge was better, where they open up a sheet and there are 5 bowls and they have to identify spices or vegetables. That showed what they knew and then the cooking challenge one at a time was better. But was that a covid thing?

Watched the first of this week's episodes last night and really enjoyed it. Seems like a genuinely "nice" bunch of people this week. Mutya is really sweet, I liked OJ, Vito is a total babe, I love Diane, and I can't remember the make up guy's name, but he seems nice, too.

It's a shame that because of the way they do the heats, some weeks the best two are as good as the one who gets kicked in another week.

That is true but if they think someone is really close to the top two they will put that third person through, so it seems it’s mostly the poorer cooks that get left behind.

Yes that has always been a weakness in this format. It's like some quizzes, like Mastermind, where someone can get through one week on say 18 points, and another week everyone was in the high 20s.
I think it is especially obvious in the professional MC series.
Is this why in the Australian version they have everyone there from the start? Though I prefer the UK one, smaller groups so you can concentrate on each person more.

Yes it's worse with the professionals. Sometimes someone will go through not because they were good but because someone else messed up.

I immediately thought of Mastermind too. It is a flaw with Masterchef. Maybe they could put a wild card into the final. Someone John and Greggggggggggg thought should have gone through.

I’ve heard OJ standing in on Radio 2. Yes I’m that old. That isn’t the image I had of him based on his voice! Really like him.
Vito is a much calmer version of himself than I was expecting and all the better for it.

Yes very obvious, if she had concerns about carving why not just flatten it out and serve it spatchcock style; she could have relaxed bashing it out flat imaging it was the head of someone not on her Christmas card list

Me too. I love it when he does Midnight Mastermind, and the banter between him & Trevor Nelson when they switch is so funny. All the Radio 2 presenters that do the non-daytime/workday shows are better than the 'bigtime' ones, albeit it's been a while since I've listened to live radio. Haven't watched this week's Masterchef yet, saving it up for a binge tomorrow.
