That’s not entirely true Lisa Faulkner won and now has a cooking show with her husband John Torode and written 3 cook books, also Nadia Sawalha.
Ok but two examples over how many contestants isn’t very much? Also personally don’t think Lisa would have all that if she hadn’t married the host 😂

For the minor celebs who manage to go far it does raise their profile. And it’s a guaranteed gig returning every year for the critique round for some. But apart from the winner’s cooking spot on ‘This Morning’ most aren’t heard from again in a cooking capacity I’d say.

I'm finding Danny almost unwatchable. It's the shrieky laugh after every single unfunny thing he says.
He's up to about 9 on my Swashometer unbearability scale.
Swashometer! 😆 Also the “Thomas” brothers. Ryan Thomas et al.

Ryan Thomas was SO cringe.

My fave this year has been Cliff, but cookery wise definitely Mel or Lisa.

Is it the final tonight? Anyone but Danny....

I think Mel and Lisa are both really good cooks. I nudge towards Lisa being better, but that might be because she’s more confident on tv, so just appears better than Mel.

I’m hoping Mel wins!

I never understand why the finale of Masterchef is only half an hour. Feels like it goes out with a hurried whimper, not with a great big bang of celebration.

Lisas' meal did look good, very elegant, so well done to her! (Though I think I would have preferred to eat Mels' cherry clafoutis, I've made Julia Childs' version and it's SO good!)

I prefer that to that crappy filler with their friends and family

What is going on with John’s wardrobe this year?
All his jackets look too short. I don’t recall him being so badly dressed previously.

I wanted Mel to win but, as much as it pains me to say, Lisa was the right choice.

Aw I like that, not the same on the celeb version but always surprises me, people’s story. Masterchef judges purely on talent and generally avoids sob stories or tokenism in the elimination process but I like seeing the finalists humanised & given context at the end.

Mel was too understated I think, a bit lacklustre. Danny smashed it but his performance throughout hasn’t quite been winning standard (think he was coached too, blue tack to hold up a toffee pecan didn’t come from him surely). I think Lisa deserved it as she seemed to put in the most effort, do the most actual cooking and be ambitious. She’s annoyingly chirpy & childlike for a cynic like me but she did very well and it’s nice to see a, not overly filled, 50 year old woman on tv in the capacity of winning a talent show.

I really wanted Mel to win but fair play to Lisa, she nailed it.
