Very weak tea but many years ago I worked with someone who knew Michael Moore. I met him once. Absolutely gorgeous and very friendly. I guess his Kitchen porters might disagree?

Whilst I never knew Russel Norman was a chef, he was a true gentleman and changed the UK food scene. I find this incredibly sad to read he had in fact committed suicide. He was very open about his struggles with depression and I suppose I secretly hoped he’d died of natural causes. It’s a shame to see this splashed all over the Mail.

This is my new favorite thread!! I am obsessed with watching Marcus Wareing pull faces at the contestants on masterchef the professionals he comes across like the biggest bellend ever. Love Monica Galetti though I watched her in a show about hotels and she seemed lovely. I’ve met MPW and he is really nice and funny!

Does anyone else follow British chef Thomas Straker? I love his content but I’m a little disappointed… Today he posted several Tory talking points on his IG stories (Labour being anti-farmers and against entrepreneurs and those who wish to earn a considerable income). This rubs me the wrong way, not because he isn’t entitled to his own political opinions (which he is, obvi, as is anyone on this forum) and I know everyone is riled up about the announced tax increase, but he has actively curated this recalcitrant, fly by the seat of my pants ‘bad boy’ line cook persona (see this Tatler spread), which I had hoped belied some true punk Brit anti-establishment sentiment, rather than a 35 year old cynic who counts every penny, so his act now seems quite performed and inauthentic. I suspected that he came from privilege (see this interview about his background and childhood traveling Europe and the U.S.) and I have wondered before how else a young instagram cook owning a single restaurant could afford to live in such a fancy home, travel frequently to exotic locations, fly first class, etc. so perhaps I should have seen this coming, but nevertheless I feel a little betrayed by his discrepant image-making.

I know he’s been associated with/keeping the company of several other ‘posh’ creatives (Beata Heuman, Luke Edward Hall, etc.) whose work I enjoy and admire, but who similarly exhibit a free-thinking attitude in their work while never questioning the power structures they cater to (the rich, who actively work against the ‘the little people’ whose blood, sweat and tears adorn the artisanal objects in their artisinal houses).
