I mean...I do understand that if she's been popular and turned her social media into a business then of course its her right to take any ads/gifts etc she's offered.

That said - her popularity has come off the backs of families who are seriously struggling. Who were struggling before the COLC and are in an even worse position now. Families who probably can't even afford her 5 for £25 meals a lot of the time but are trying to use free resources including social media to learn to stretch their money as far as possible.

She comes across as very tone deaf here. She could have posted saying she's been offered a trip and has decided to take it. She'll be on holiday for 2 weeks but she's scheduled some recipes or whatever in the meantime. She's super lucky and appreciates every single one of her followers and she has the means now to do some sort of giveaway or give back. You'll never convince me she couldn't just do a cash giveaway...say an aldi gift voucher for £100 to 5 families to feed them for 4 weeks. Something.

The way she's gone about it is what's rubbed me the wrong way. She's posted every detail of the luxury free holiday she's on knowing the majority of her audience will never be able to experience close to that. I'd be embarrassed if I was her.

I agree. She’s completely lost sight of her demographic and it’s all a bit gross now. I’ve had to unfollow her. Is she still drinking bucket loads of fleurs then slurring through whatever story she’s trying to put on?

I unfollowed after this trip too, just not really on brand and so braggy. Take the freebie, I would, but do it with a bit more grace….she had 472k followers before the trip, down to 469k now…says a lot. People scrabbling for pennies don’t find this aspirational at all, just massively depressing and insanity before I’m not sure what their marketing teams are thinking, I doubt she’ll drive much business to them

She’ll be back with the ads…creams & supplements etc…then the jet lag drama child hanging off the boob how bad they are at sleeping blah blah blah

Guessing a condition of her getting the holiday was to actively promote it though. So a certain number of stories/grid posts would be expected.

Saying that, there is something hugely unlikeable about her and her approach to things.

totally agree with you here, I don’t think we can deny we’d have taken the free holiday too. But there could have been so much more consideration for people who follow her purely for her cooking and budgeting content

Even just a bit of humility with it: “I know we’re incredibly lucky to have this opportunity” etc but it just seemed so gloaty and grabby.

It’s like she wants her followers to think that by budgeting their meals they’ll be going to Turks and Caicos, especially since she deleted any comment pointing out it was a freebie. I mean let’s face it she’s done well with influencing but could she honestly say she could have afforded that holiday for them all if she’d had to pay for it? The lack of humility is the most off putting thing about it

Yeah I've unfollowed today.

We are very fortunate that we are able to live pretty comfortably and take holidays - but I think unless you're on celeb money that's very much a save for years and maybe even a once in a lifetime trip as a family.

She hasn't addressed it and honestly it's pissed me off. I feel sick for the people watching her looking for ways to keep their children fed and struggling mid-month and her biggest worry is having to unpack.

When she posted about how loved up they are without the stress of daily life it just got me. We all know finances have a massive impact on couples and she's just tone deaf. Aldi should be embarrassed to use her as an ambassador.

The thing is she isn't the first foodie influencer. They all have their moment. And then they get a bit of money and some freebies, become unrelatable and it all drops off. I really prefer the Batch Lady. Normal farm working woman, her house is never picture perfect, she makes it very clear that she gets much cheaper deals on meat because they run a farm but she goes into a range of supermarkets and independent shops to show you how to get a good deal. She did a whole day at a butchers explaining the cuts and how to buy within your budget which I found really helpful because sometimes people can be put off because they think it'll cost a fortune.

This idiot does this morning and she's suddenly acting like gods gift to skint people. Her cookbook is 1 of a million...they pop them out now like no ones business (think whatmummymakes) and they're just slightly changed recipes. She's an idiot.

Her latest post, she claims she teaches people how to save money 😅
Obviously someone has said or she’s been told maybe by her agent to get back to basics…it’s true she has lost the original point of her page whatever the hell that was 😂😂

I think the same, she’s been advised to use her story and have a brand and she’s using the hook of ‘teach’ as she used to be a teacher

If anything, this ‘reintroduction’ she’s doing just shows more starkly that she’s moved so far away from what her original thing was. She talks about how they struggled financially when she was on mat leave and she only had £25 for their meals yet now she’s flaunting a £££ gifted holiday and constantly flogging stuff (mattresses, skincare etc). No wonder followers are confused! And I feel like now when she goes back to the £25 meal plans it comes across quite patronising when it’s sandwiched between ads and holidays. She’s riding the wave of her book now but really don’t know how much further she’s going to go!

Agree I think she’s shot herself in the foot a bit she’s got a brand and a 20k free holiday doesn’t really fit in with that, and if people are struggling to feed their families am not sure they’ve got spare cash for skincare, pricey mattresses or whatever she claims she’s been using forever that’s just great
