I remember the nightclub bomb. Even at 11 years old I thought having a bomb 18 months after the gas explosion on one shopping parade was a bit far fetched 😂

Do you remember the hostage situation that went on? I remember thinking how far fetched that was 😂

I tuned back in for that couple of weeks. Then it ended in the helicopter crash (on the parade of course 😂). The last big storyline before it lost it's weekday time slots and got dumped on Saturday afternoons.

I caught episode 1, looks almost like it was filmed in a home movie style 😁
Loved seeing the old cars, the yellow Citroen 2CV, Bobby Grant's Austin Princess & Barry's gas guzzler Jaguar.
I remember when these new-build estates were springing up & hanging around the sites with pals, being a nuisance to the night watchman.
Soaps like Neighbours definitely took inspiration from Brookside a few years later.

Roger's underpants oh my 😲 😲 😲

7 episodes in, where did the afternoon go
Sue Johnston & Ricky Tomlinson really carried the show in the early days, am enjoying watching this again.

Watched all this week's 10 episodes, early sightings of Terry Sullivan, Sinbad the window cleaner (as an extra) and also spotted Billy Corkhill & Frank Rodgers in minor roles.
I had also forgotten that Lucy Collins was played by Katrin Cartlidge, quite a renowned actress afterwards.

Does anyone know what the schedule is ? Is it like the other classic soaps 2 episodes a day?

STV Player are showing 10 episodes per week, I think they are available from a Tues or Wed.
You can watch all 10 in one sitting.
I'm no techie but I think there are nearly 3,000 episodes of Brookside, and putting all those on their Player, available all at the same time, just wouldn't be possible.

Billy!!
Also the guy who was helping “Gaz” to move in. I recognise him from something else. Who was he?

He would become Frank Rogers in the series, his family would move into the Close.
Ahhh yes. I just about remember now. Thanks

Ooh its a bit risque isnt it. I had an episode on just now and heard ‘gary windass’ say “im going bare back” 😳
Quickly switched off as my 10 yr old was about. No wonder i wasnt allowed to watch!!

Yes, you are right, it pushed the limits at the time, before the 9pm watershed too.
You often hear Damon and the other youngsters swearing, b, piss off etc.

Yes i love seeing the old cars etc. The decor in the houses too. It’s quite nostalgic.

So am sat absolutely racking my brains over this Gavin character. His voice i recognised most and i was wondering where it was from. Wiki’d him and went through his list of appearances in various things. Got nowhere. Then saw it. He was Ches in My Family 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Iv just got to episode 2 now thanks to this thread, my mum used to watch Brookie and I watched back in the later years (I was born 91)
Im comparing Roger to my next door neighbour (always looking out the window watching what neighbours are doing and what everyones up to!)
Love seeing the old cars and styles of homes/fashions.

Keep watching, a few storylines & characters start to emerge in these first 10 episodes.
The picture quality begins to get a bit better too.
