I do love Super Furry Animals. I think they've done some great music. What's heartbreaking for me is they've just been completely forgotten. You never hear them on the radio. Their breakup was just "Oh...". And my favourites by them are Cabin Fever, Cityscape Skybaby, No Sympathy and most of the Guerilla album. Mainstream success never came their way. Even cult status just isn't sustainable these days. But yes. I can see how it wouldn't work for others. I think getting trapped in a cycle of double albums might have caused band tensions. Ah democracy in bands!
Still have a listen to the first two songs I mentioned. They might float your boat or not.
Plus, they aren't Britpop Britpop. But thanks for mentioning them in the thread. And at least none of them turned out to be dodgy! So that's definitely not Britpop then!

Fairly sure dodgy behaviour isn't exclusive to the Britpop genre

My mum had all the catatonia albums and used to.play them whilst doing house work.

I think that having a female singer with a lovely husky voice and Welsh accent really helps them stand out and sound fresh. I think there songs still sound distinct now, just think they have been a bit forgotten.

I think probs (prior to the Nazi stuff) as Crispian Mills was a bit of a cheesemeister more than anything else K was a great album.

Yeah he was also a bit of a posh boy nepo baby, his mother being Hayley Mills (but I love Hayley Mills’ old films so I couldn’t resent it. And ofc HM is also a nepo baby). I think he’s a film director these days.

I'd have expected all places to do it. I always book free cancellation either as soon as dates are released or even just for rumoured dates. Did that for Taylor Swift but I'll probably just drive home after Oasis if I get tickets . Although I had seen I think possibly for F1 that the hotel someone booked was free cancellation expect for the specific date that the F1 was on so they were stuck with the hotel room

I saw that Edinburgh hotels have too

I went to see Rammstein in Dublin not long ago and we literally flew in and back out again in less than 24 hours because the hotels were ridiculously priced.

I heard Rammstein was an amazing gig though. I looked at booking.com there and hotels in Manchester were quite reasonable.

I’ll definitely (maybe) be trying for tickets. Accepting it’ll cost a fortune and be a nightmare. 2 million people tried for Knebworth tickets, I think it’ll be more than that trying for these. Oasis were my favourite band as a teenager and I’ve seen them twice but in the early 00’s at Wembley and MK bowl. I wish I’d seen them in their peak but was a bit too young to be allowed to go!

Age is a great thing sometimes, I’ve saw them 4 times including knebworth. My stepdaughter thinks I’m the coolest thing ever!

Paul Draper's stage presence was always weird. Mansun were great live, but he had no rapport with the audience and sometimes even sang with his back to them.

Spent yesterday watching the osbournes on YouTube. It’s still hilarious, the teens loved it. The quality is a bit sketchy, and sound a bit iffy. Which makes Izzy’s ramblings even harder to understand!!! The only thing that ages it is the phones

I have such a soft spot for Dodgy

The Britpop era was while I was at school and uni. There’s a photo of me somewhere in an original Oasis baby tee aged about 15. Started going to gigs a couple of years later, saw a lot of Primal Scream, Underworld, Manics, SFA, Blur, and Oasis at Wembley. Great times.

SFA were great when I saw them live- bouncing in the mosh pit to The Man Don’t Give a Fuck was a highlight. Pulp were fab too.

I loved SFA at the time but I think they were definitely of the time and I’d never listen to them now.

I’ve loved reading about everyone’s 90’s fashion! I had cords and Acupuncture trainers- remember those?!

Oh and by the way re Graham Coxon- he’s a total shit bag. Shagged young fans in his house while his wife and small child were out. Left his wife in America during covid and fucked off back to England alone. Left her with fuck all money and PTSD. She has photos on her insta of her with bruises which seem to be due to him.

Thanks to this thread I’ve educated my son on a lot of Brit pop I had missed.
SFA was a great band. I’d forgotten about them, there was one of their cds in the charity shop recently. I nearly got it, went for space instead.
I now have three copies of the space album, and I think I only like 3 songs on the album
