I was surprised they didn't mention in the All Saints part how Mel and the Appleton sisters had gone behind Shaznay's back to a record label to try and do the band without her https://www.archive.is/oldest/https://www.theguardian.com/music/2004/oct/10/popandrock1

"Shortly afterwards Blatt bumped into Natalie and Nicole Appleton, her former best friends from stage school, introduced them to Lewis, and the ultimate All Saint line-up was created. 'We went into the studio together with a producer for four or five months, making demos, building up a showcase. Then we signed to London Records.' But not before Blatt and the Appletons went to a label executive behind Lewis's back with their own demo, which included an early recording of Lewis singing 'Never Ever'. The exec told them to get Lewis back on board. 'I was a bit shocked, to be honest"

I wonder if Shaznay and Mel are still friends?

They started to resent her because she was getting royalties from writing the songs. Mel said on that documentary how close she was to Shaznay too when it was just the two of them.

It annoyed me how Mel acted so "cool" yet was a stage school kid. She was at Sylvia Young, same one Emma Bunton went to and all the other star kids.
Can't imagine how hard it was for Nat watching Me have her baby

One of my early memories of Eternal (early as in early in their career, I would have been about 13) was them performing Stay at the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party. They were singing live, and Louise’s mic seemed to have been turned up surprisingly high for the backing vocals. Her voice was wobbling all over the place.

Just checked and it’s on YouTube! I haven’t seen this in 30 years and the vocals are as ROUGH as I remember 😂

She was beautiful though. Love the choreo.
jeez that was awful 🫠🫠🫠 Esther sounds great though!

I've only watched episode 1, I'm a bit disappointed we only got opinions from 1 person in some groups :(
Also Mel Blatt looks unreal still and natural too

Yeah I would love to hear more sides of the story. I wish Louise has been there and someone else in All Saints too.

Higher by the Saturdays was a bop but they were the girl group equivalent of a new build decorated with grey paint and a live laugh love sign 😅

I was obsessed with Up by The Saturdays, the black dress + bright tights combo sorted my going out outfit until about 2013

The BBC has an article linked to the show but a) the lead photo on the main page and article is Girls Aloud who aren't even featured, b) they list Blackstreet (No dignity, no doubt) as a boyband alongside Five and One Direction and c) they insinuate that boybands are tit and only popular because of hormonal teenage girls, but suggest that 1D aren't part of this and were artistically superior. The disrespect to bands like Take That, East 17 and NSync!

Honestly this tit makes me want to stop paying the licence fee.
