I’ve got more fangirl tea but, so old, it’s now evaporated.

PJ and Duncan as we knew them back then literally jumping out of a hotel door only to be caught by a gaggle of thatters on their way to hang around capital radio. Poor PJ was terrified and looked like he was going to cry, Duncan loved the attention, or put on a good performance of loving it. This scene was then re-enacted in a music video by them. Not sure if it was a reissue of ready to rumble.

Dr Fox tried it on with my 13 year old friend and tried to get her to go in his sports car. We only went to get a picture with Take That who had interviewed and left. Fortunately my friend was a smart cookie and knew a pon when she met one.
---
As you can tell, I was always on the trail of Take That.

I think East 17 should have been bigger than what they actually wear. They were a lot better than take that and damage could have sold millions of records in both of the UK and America but they missed that chance how racist was smash hits magazine for knocking them back on a front cover the First time

I liked E17 and they were deemed acceptable by boys to like. I think the introduction of Daniella Westbrook ended it for them. Take That survived because we all (stupidly) thought we had a chance.

I mean, not really. But freaky time is great. I can only remember one other song they did, called you. Very dreary.

And how has nobody mentioned ‘when you’re looking like that’?

All of these programmes have made me realise how important bands like Take That and Boyzone were to me growing up, I never saw Take that live as I was really young and my mum didn’t want to take me but I saw Boyzone and Ronan a lot live. I appreciate Take That a hell of a lot more now. I Liked Five, East 17 and Blue as well but not as much as the others.

Take that’s come back album was really strong on its own and as well as the singles that came from it Reach out and Like I never loved you at all are so so good! Well all of it is epic tbh. Not sure about them now as a 3 piece the magic was definitely all in the 90s when they were all together.

YT keeps suggesting old take that performances to me. I'd forgotten how hot the video for Sure was. And what a song that is

This will probably out me, as everyone I know knows this story….but Robbie called me a ‘sad cow’ outside the Dominion Theatre around the time of Could it be Magic and broke my heart. Mum wanted to break his nose and tried to call NMS to complain 😆🙈
I want to hear more about this interaction! How old were you and what led up to it?!

I was 13 nearly 14 and was outside the dominion theatre as take that were performing for the children’s royal variety performance. It was very early in their career but already Robbie was showing signs of not conforming. This is exactly how I remember it.

They all came out to greet the fans except for Robbie. I remember Gary saying he’s inside he’s not feeling too good. They were all so friendly and happy to see us, then suddenly Robbie came out. Naturally we all screamed and he had a face like a slapped a. He kept coming near to us and then walking away, like he was teasing but not in a nice way. I screamed at him (like you do 🙈) can’t remember what I was screaming but I was a young kid. He came closer to the crowd and I was at the front, then he shouted in my face ‘you sad cow’. I walked away really upset and ran to a phone box to call my mum. I went right off him after that. I started looking for real boys instead. I think it killed my fantasy a bit 😆

Just finished watching it this evening. Though it was excellently put together and really enjoyed it. Great for nostalgia value.

Absolutely, it was a bit concerning watching Louis Walsh. I was first struck by how he seems to have suddenly aged. He looked slightly dishevelled (which I've never seen him like) and he seemed very "fragile" - like he was struggling to even just sit there and answer questions. Hard to pinpoint but something has shifted in him.
From certain angles it looked like maybe he'd had a stroke at some point.

Thank you for coming back! That's really nasty. And so early in their career, you'd think they'd be all for cultivating a fanbase and making their fans feel special. Clearly the others got the memo! At the *children's Royal Variety performance* of all places too .What a head, I feel so upset for 13yo you!

I wonder if 'he's not feeling well' was code for 'he's being a twit' and instead of keeping him inside he was read the riot act by the manager and told to go outside and greet the fans with the others. He's always been cocky, maybe he thought he was getting one up on the manager by behaving rudely. Not very clever.

I'm most surprised that he was like that so early on. I appreciate everything was likely really full-on for a 18-20yo or however old he was (they said he joined at 16?) but he always seemed really enthusiastic back then! I guess it was a different story behind the scenes.

I’m early 40’s so was very excited to watch this! Biiiig boyband fan back in the day.. Take That and Boyzone were peak my era, so was a little disappointed to not even hear more about Boyzone even if they didn’t want to be interviewed. Surely they could’ve asked Louis more?

Anyways, I digress. I went straight from binging all 3 eps to watching the TT docu on YouTube (when Robbie came back). Also excellent.

But I remember having the vhs of when they went to Bury and met Mark’s iguana Nirvana and there was bts of tours and stuff. Does anyone remember what I’m on about? I can’t find it anywhere 😢 I’d love another nostalgia watch!!

Also, got tickets to Robbie for next Aug! Squeeeeeeeee! 🥰
Yes, I have it on video, it's called Take That & Party. Watched it so many times! You got to see each of the boys individually in their favourite places. Fans have asked for them to be put on DVD but am assuming it's a rights issue as to why they never have been.
