Boybands Forever

I’m early 40’s so was very excited to watch this! Biiiig boyband fan back in the day.. Take That and Boyzone were peak my era, so was a little disappointed to not even hear more about Boyzone even if they didn’t want to be interviewed. Surely they could’ve asked Louis more?

Anyways, I digress. I went straight from binging all 3 eps to watching the TT docu on YouTube (when Robbie came back). Also excellent.

But I remember having the vhs of when they went to Bury and met Mark’s iguana Nirvana and there was bts of tours and stuff. Does anyone remember what I’m on about? I can’t find it anywhere 😢 I’d love another nostalgia watch!!

Also, got tickets to Robbie for next Aug! Squeeeeeeeee! 🥰
I'm sure that was the everything changes VHS when they all went to their favourite places, Jason went to a curry house, Robbie to Port Vale, Gary in the studio, Mark went home and I think Howard walked his tortoise round the park! I used to watch it all the time. It was the one where Robbie did all the interviews with no trousers on 😂

Not much has changed then if you’ve seen his Netflix doc!😂

We finished watching these last night, really enjoyed them and have my fingers crossed for a girl bands one, there were some great girl groups at the time, some have been mentioned but to add to then you had Misteeq, Bewitched and the Honeyz.
I have never liked Brian McFadden and honestly the way he reacted when asked about Kerry cemented that even more for me, so arrogant and nasty and totally unnecessary. Louis was odd, it felt like he wasn’t all there, I felt like that when I saw clips of him on Big Brother too.

I saw 911 a few years ago and while I was never a fan of them back in the day I have to say they put on great show. The same for Chesney Hawkes.

Just watched it then very nostalgic listening to all the old music and seeing all the old bands. I did think they would’ve went into more of a mental health aspect of it is to be in a boy band overall it was an interesting documentary. Brian Harvey had an amazing voice but had a wasted career he could’ve gone further his vocals were absolutely gorgeous literally golden voice shame he was the first product of cancel culture
I will go as far to say he had the best voice out of that British boy band era also did Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams
---
They also missed a trick with damage they could’ve transferred over to the American market. I think more than five could of but they watered them down.

Just watched it and loved it especially the first episode . Was always a Take That girl but had a sneaky collection of East 17 tapes some of their songs were Really good !
The old Smash Hits Poll Winners Parties from the 90s are on You Tube such good memories of childhood Sundays close to Christmas watching those .
So happy I was a 90s child we had the best music
I went to the 1998 poll winners party, when westlife (west side at the time lol ) and a1 were up for the up and coming award! I nicked a massive poster which I was allowed to put in our dining room ( we had posters whilst deciding hiw to do it up lol)
East 17 had some great songs. I’ve been listening to them… do you still love me? Is such a good song!

Watching Damage on BBC News as they’re going on tour. Were they big? I know who they are but couldn’t tell you anything about them apart from Jade being with Emma Bunton
My sister LOVED Damage. I think they were going for the r&b girl lovers which my sister was.

I was too young for majority of these bands, but I do know them.

Anyways Gary Barlow got the laugh last with his massive son. Take that Robbie lol

Do Westlife get an addendum coz they’re literally on tour in Asia right now 🤣

I saw them last yr in the Aviva Stadium. Still absolutely have it! 😍😍😍😍

I actually had to Google his age because something about his mannerisms, the way he moved his face even, seemed “old man” to me, but there was something off too, like he is declining cognitively or something? He also seemed to have aged quickly over the last few years. So I thought to myself “Oh, maybe he’s just getting on a bit, pushing 80 maybe”.

He isn’t, he’s 72. But I agree he didn’t seem entirely well or himself.

I think he was the root cause of a lot of Kerry's issues. Can't stand him. Really thought he was better than everyone else, was glad his career landed flat on its a.

I think so too. Obviously she had a tit childhood but I really think she thought she’d found her happy ending and he broke her

That’s what I thought. He seemed off but couldn’t put my finger on how.

Absolutely, it was a bit concerning watching Louis Walsh. I was first struck by how he seems to have suddenly aged. He looked slightly dishevelled (which I've never seen him like) and he seemed very "fragile" - like he was struggling to even just sit there and answer questions. Hard to pinpoint but something has shifted in him.
