I have Netflix.
Would love to know what the documentary is called?
Thanks.
Nothing on Netflix but they are doing a No Holds Barred one for them but no release date yet. He apologised for it in his autobiography and in the press but can't find it on film etc.

I’ve watched all 3 episodes and loved it.
I have no idea why mangled mono nostril westcrack had to feature in the first one so much though? As far as I can remember her and Brian weren’t together that long even? He dumped her cos her coke addiction got too much iirc.
I can definitely see a girlbands one in the offing the groups I’d like to see are:
Bananarama (the original and BEST girlband imo and still look fabulous😊
Eternal
Shampoo - they invented girl power then the spice girls nicked the concept I’d like to know how they feel about that.
Spice girls (can’t have a girlband doc without them although I’ve never been a fan)
All saints
Bewitched
Atomic kitten
Sugarbabes

I am currently listening to Rick Astley's autobiography on audible. The Stock, Aitken, Waterman days are interesting.
I wasn't a huge Rick fan but he was interesting when he was on the radio with Chris Evans so I gave it a listen. Can recommend.

Just finished it. He was far more talented than their usual SAW puppets- he could write and play multiple instruments. I don't think they knew what to do with him once theyd signed him. Glad he realised that he was being stifiled and chose his own directon.

The thing about Gary and the tax evasion thing IMO is yes, he was stupid, greedy and ignorant, but it wasn’t just him (Howard and Mark don’t get any stick for it, perhaps simply because they’re less famous) and actually, tax evasion is so normalised in this country that it’s pretty hypocritical to have a pop at the rich people who get caught doing it.

Watched all 3, verdict: brilliant nostalgia, sadness & loads of info I didn't know about.
My opinions changed on some past performers.
Loved it 😍

Watching Damage on BBC News as they’re going on tour. Were they big? I know who they are but couldn’t tell you anything about them apart from Jade being with Emma Bunton

I’m a 90’s teenager who lived for boys bands so this was right up my street. My number one band were (and still are) Boyzone so the lack of coverage on them was disappointing to say the least. However, I was also a big fan of East 17 and I always feel they get overlooked when it comes to nostalgia on 90’s music. I really enjoyed seeing Tony, Terry and John taking part and being interviewed. I saw Tony being interviewed last year when the Lidl Christmas advert was released with the take on Stay Another Day. He said he only agreed to it if proceeds went to charity, so Tony is a good ‘un 👍🏻

Gary, Mark and Howard did their own retrospective in a program with Dermot O’Leary which I am sure is still available on iPlayer. Perhaps they feel there wasn’t anything new or different to add on this show.

I think with hindsight we can all see that there just wasn’t room for both Gary and Robbie in the same band. Personally I don’t see one as being better than the other, they’ve both had incredible highs and lows over the last 30 years. Yet, here we are in 2024 and both still sell out arenas and stadiums with music that’s 30 years old. There’s room for them both - Robbie and Take That. Happy days!

There‘s so much to unpick with life in the 90’s. The control by the media is absolutely insane, and it wasn’t just boybands. Everyone who was remotely famous either had their life changed or destroyed by the press. Pop stars, sports stars, soap actors, politicians, the royal family, you name it, they all had their lives made a misery. One thing I do love about the 90’s is the lack of botox and lip fillers, what a time to be alive!

Not much has changed though if One Direction is anything to go by.

Agreed about the botox fillers thing. It's refreshing not seeing it

I used to love the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party (usually on after the Eastenders Omnibus)...it was the perfect prelude to Christmas on the horizon!

Lee from 911 looks amazing. Jimmy Constable still makes me flutter lol.

I’m early 40’s so was very excited to watch this! Biiiig boyband fan back in the day.. Take That and Boyzone were peak my era, so was a little disappointed to not even hear more about Boyzone even if they didn’t want to be interviewed. Surely they could’ve asked Louis more?

Anyways, I digress. I went straight from binging all 3 eps to watching the TT docu on YouTube (when Robbie came back). Also excellent.

But I remember having the vhs of when they went to Bury and met Mark’s iguana Nirvana and there was bts of tours and stuff. Does anyone remember what I’m on about? I can’t find it anywhere 😢 I’d love another nostalgia watch!!

Also, got tickets to Robbie for next Aug! Squeeeeeeeee! 🥰
