Right?! I just, did she even pick the book up, because literally the first thing that's said about him is that he's tall and handsome.i don’t know how it’s possible to misread a character this badly. elizabeth doesn’t “crack” darcy, he cracks himself (this is a weird sentence out of context) he becomes a better person because of her but even at the end he is fully prepared to step aside and be silent forever if she doesn’t genuinely return his feelings. yes he starts off as a snob but he doesn’t stay one that is the POINT OF THE BOOK come at me dolly.
Also, such a fundamental misunderstanding of what marriage meant for women in that time.

Has anyone seen the Ali Hazelwood drama? She had to delete her Instagram because she said (in relation to Hunger Games) she was Team Gale and Peeta was useless at a convention, and someone filmed it, and people harassed her for it.
Cannot believe anyone would be bothered by her preference, especially because both books and films have been out for years, and I would have thought the fan wars would have calmed down by now!

My mum introduced me to Agatha Christie when I was a teenager. I was too old for the children’s section of our library and had read most of their limited “teenage” offerings but there was an impressive Christie selection. I always preferred the Hercule Poirot books probably because I loved the Peter Ustinov version of Death On The Nile, but have read a few more Miss Marple ones recently. Any recommendations for fave Miss Marples appreciated!
This is my second one of hers, and the last.

47/75 so ahead of schedule but I read 87 last year and would like to beat that so should probably up my target.

My average rating is 4.23 so things are going well! I think I’ve been choosing the books I’m most keen to read and reading the right thing at the right time ie. easier reads when work is busy!

)i’m reading voyage of the damned by frances white which was almost certainly recommended to me by someone here (@daisynoon maybe?!) whoever it was THANK YOU. it’s a delightful mix of a gay romcom and a murder mystery, with magic and on a boat. loving it.
Thanks to those of you who recommended The Husbands in a few weeks back. (Apologies I can’t remember who it was!) I finished it last night after racing through it, and after an April of long/slow/disappointing reads it was a perfect bit of light relief!
I’m not sure I totally liked the ending, it felt a bit rushed, but overall I loved how she dealt with what could have been a bit of a daft plot line. Definitely one to pick up if you’re after something light for the summer.

I’m a couple of chapters into Wedding People! So I’ll also report back.
I’ve just finished Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney. I always struggle with unreliable narrators, but quite enjoyed this until the end, which was just huh?! Had to Google it and saw lots of others were confused too, which made me feel better. I thought I’d missed a chapter!

My June reads, 10 read.
Very meh month, the only books I truly enjoyed was Troubled Blood by JKR (5 stars) and the Paris Novel, if you like foodie novels you will probably like this (4 stars).
All the other books I read were 3/3.5 stars, I will finish The Woman in Cabin 10 today but finding it a bit repetitive so will probably go 3 stars.
Very meh month, the only books I truly enjoyed was Troubled Blood by JKR (5 stars) and the Paris Novel, if you like foodie novels you will probably like this (4 stars).

For the first month in a very long time, none of my wishlist kindle books are reduced to 99p.
Although I’m disappointed (the 1st of the month excitement and anticipation was strong today) I’ll see it as a positive that it’s giving me a chance to get my tbr down. I have started another spreadsheet and for May and June I acquired more books than I read so despite reading 43 books so far this year, I’ve only lowered my TBR by 3. It’s now at 222.
I’m going to get off tattle and start reading now!
