Does anyone suffer or has suffered with this? If so how did you get help?
yes, my advice is definitely therapy if you can if not a 12 step group like OA is also helpful. whatever you do don't join some kind of weightloss group ( as i did) and end up suffering from bulimia for decades.. wishing you all the best ❤

Sort of — I used to eat uncontrollably in the middle of the night. I’d be barely awake and still ravenous. I had these experiences for six years before I found my way back to eating meals three times a day. After that, binge eating episodes went away on their own. It never occurred to me that I could seek help for it because I was taught that severe calorie restriction is healthy and so I thought I was doing everything right & that midnight binging was just a funny quirk.

Just came across this thread. Has anyone ever had successful treatment for BED? Would like to hear some positive experiences of coming through it 🙏🏼

Tried to add a spoiler but not sure it’s worked- disordered eating mentioned-
Hi, just looking for some advice and come across this thread…. I really struggle at moments in life with this and just wondered what, if any sort of therapy people had tried for it? I feel I’ve gotten over it and then wham… it hits me again out of blue because I’ve obviously not dealt with the underlying issue. Ideally I’d like to try something online, as I’m sure other sufferers are aware it’s a very secretive, private thing, but open to suggestions (I’ve kept it secret from my partner of 11 years and all family and friends). I’m maybe thinking it’s more along the lines of an addiction sort of thing- I tend to drink alcohol a lot too, which probably doesn’t help. Just would be grateful for any advice x
ETA- I will binge but also purge if can get away with it, and probably starting out binging due to restriction

Seek help from a professional who specialises in Eating Disorders - take that step. Also link in with your GP.

I promise you that you can be free from this. I overcame an ED - it took time but my life is mine now and in a twisted way my ED taught me a lot about myself and the world around me. Best of luck.

I saw a therapist for help with mine I also read this book that really helped open my eyes it also includes some of the strategies/CBT type tools my therapist used to stop binging!

I didn’t think it would help much as it’s a book and was free on kindle but actually was pretty helpful!

Amazon product

I’m now almost 12 weeks without a binge so it seems to be working and hope it continues as feeling so much better - my skin in particular is in much better condition, clearer and less eczema flare ups!
