Ben came across terribly in that episode. Spoilt child throughout but especially going in the guest cabin, I would be fuming too if I had done my job and cleaned the cabin and changed the bed ahead of guests checking in the next day and a staff member went in and slept in it knowing that it would have to be redone the next day. The way the “department heads” are speaking to each other is terrible and unfortunately because Daisy and Joao have “muddied the waters” they’re going to be accused of siding against Ben because they’re flirting/ shagging

Imagine how Ben would have reacted had he cleaned and prepped his kitchen and other crew and gone in, started making food with the provisos and not cleaned up - he'd have lost it.
He's also being unprofessional by empowering Ellie to be a disrespectful cunt to a HoD.
I've always had a bit of a soft spot for him, but he has fucked it.
How does Joao's rank as Second Officer compare to Ben's as chef?

Joao is higher isn’t he? I think. Ben would’ve lost his ever loving mind in a vice versa situation, he’s a hothead at the best of times but he really hates extra work so it would be a bad situation all round I think. Especially if the offending party took the same ‘I couldn’t care less about you or your work’ attitude, he just thinks he’s above everyone else. Rank isn’t everything (even for Ellie ) they all have their part to play!

I googled, first officer is higher then chef.

Ben has such a victim mentality. If he was like this with his fiancée no wonder she left him (cant remember why their wedding was called off) zero care for what any of his colleagues have done, imagine him prepping a meal for guests and then crew decided to eat it. He'd be fuming he would need to redo it, he is mid 40s and chucking a tantrum. He is only inflating Ellie's ego cause she will side with him blindly by doing so.

If Jason lets him get away with this considering he demoted Jenna for a personal situation, he's totally inept.

I think his wedding was called off because he found out she was sleeping with one of his friends?

ETA: Yes, he gave an interview where he confirmed he had found out she'd been sleeping with one his mates for long time.

Oh Ben. He comes across as such a posh, spoilt baby in this episode. Comparing Daisy to an Irish nanny said everything. Upper class twat.

I only ever watched this season
...if ben was on before I dont know how people let him ans his arrogance away with it. Not one good bone in his body. He deffo got the sack cos he didnt film with any cast for the after show

The only reason I think Jason wont do anything him is cause they wont be able to get another chef intime for the charter and they need the chef, "sous" chef assistant Ellie wouldn'tbe able to cop.

But agree Jason needs to hold him to account.

Not a fan of Jason this season. It feels like the fame has got to his head.

I loved Jason on previous seasons but he seems to have lost his edge.
He was also such a fair captain, but enforced the rules when needed. This season he's based repercussions on who the person involved was, rather than what they have actually done.

I liked Daisy in her previous seasons but I’m not a fan at all this time round! Not sure what it is but she’s irritated me

I’m rewatching an older series with Ben in it and he’s not actually that different, I never realised it before though, think it was because he didn’t really get called out and others were worse than him so he got away with it

I’ve never liked Ben so I’ve been quite surprised with the nice comments on him on this thread! He seems a great chef but he is so arrogant and childish it’s crazy.

Ben is so clearly a sexist, classist snob and it's honestly embarrassing. Acting like a stroppy teenager when he's nearly 50.

Jenna's behaviour was poor, but she was a drunk 22 year old. The way Ben speaks to and about people is awful, allowing and encouraging his galley hand to bitch about Daisy.

He’s such a twat about his upbringing as well, crying on about how he doesn’t want to be judged on his class/privilege when he goes around judging people and mistreating them to that end constantly. He’s like a bloke continually accusing someone of cheating, they’re nearly always the cheat themselves.

I did read on insta that on the aftershow (whatever that is) that jason had said to Ben to sleep in the guest room. But that was missed off the cameras obv for the kick off to take place

Jason did say however that he gave him permission thinking he was sleeping in a room that wasn't yet prepped for guests.
The way it was edited also meant you didn't know if Jason had given him this permission some time ago for the season [as Ben has regularly slept in the guest cabin] or if explicit permission was given on that night.
