Where do i start
Used drugs and drank while pregnant with me (have heart issues and kidney issue)
Abused me gave me a brain injury (I've got a small learning disorder)
Tried to run away with me x2 (didn't get further than the bus station in town both times)
Tried to kill me with a knife and locked me in a house that she later set on fire (i suffered bad burns to my arms, end up in mental heath facility, more drugs, had 6 more kids (8 in total), lost every kid, more drugs, begs for money off elderly people, marrying a pedofile who messaged me asking for sex saying he will pay me i don't need her or want her in my life
I suffer with ptsd, panic attacks and i have horrendous flashbacks but it's getting better haven't spoke to her in 12 years
Adopted mum is amazing I've had many wonderful years with her plus she started off fostering me

I can only think of the year they didn’t get me a Christmas present which is really petty but it upset me at the time. Me and my siblings are all adults but they got a pile of presents to open at my parents and I didn’t get one thing. Fair enough. What hurt was my siblings and my dad asking me all day what I got. Errrr nothing.

Has 3 children. I’m youngest with a different dad. When I was born she handed me and my older siblings to my gran (dads mum). My grandparents raised all 3 of us while my mum claimed all the benefits for us, moved house yearly with 3 bedrooms each time, got maintenance money from the older 2’s dad to name a few. She only ‘cared’ about us when she was drunk. She used to call my gran and threaten us with care etc. Before all this though I used to stay there sometimes. I remember being 4, my older siblings were at school and she didn’t give me any food or drink, she slept all day. I remember trying to open a sweet and she woke up, took it from me, shouted in my face and went back to sleep. Another time I was 5 and at school. She made me cross one of the busiest roads in town alone and then locked me out. She lived in a flat at this point so I had to buzz up, she never answered. So I buzzed another house and then sat outside the door until it got dark waiting on her. She allowed my brother and sister to see their dad but I was never allowed to see mines and if I did, it was never alone (no reason btw, he’s not a danger). Now I don’t have a relationship with my dad because of this and I don’t think I’ll ever have one now, it’s just too awkward. As for my ‘mum’ I thought I’d give her a chance when my son was born, for him to have a nana and she messed that up quickly too. I refuse to allow her to treat my son the way she treated me. I wouldn’t piss on her if she were on fire. I have no love for that woman, I don’t call her mum and I never will. She’s toxic. I’ll be forever thankful for my grandparents, they were my rock. As for me I suffer some mental health issues now but my main focus is making sure I never ever treat my own kids that way and I’d say I’m doing a great job at being a mum considering I never had one. I guess I learnt from the best - my grandparents.

As requested. Come and share your experiences of the shitty things your parents have ever done to you.

I have a few, ranging from quite serious to pretty funny. We have a strange relationship; love each other but aren’t that close. If I have an issue, I don’t go running to her. I’m closer to my grandmother. My mum and I are total opposites and we clash over stuff. The worst thing she ever done to me is fat-shamed me growing up. It has caused me to have a lot of issues with my weight. She doesn’t mince her words, put it that way. We’ve had it out though, so she knows how it affected me and she has tried to make amends since. And she is a good grandmother who dotes on my kids and would help me if I ever did ask.

She also has a bit of a twisted sense of humour and liked play pranks on us and scare us as little kids. One time when we were quite young, she pretended she found a shoebox in one of the cupboards (we lived in a horrible old tenement block at the time) and told us a creepy story about an old woman who used to live in the house before us and about how she had been killed but they never found her body. Then she had us open the shoebox and there was her finger covered in tomato sauce poking up from the bottom of it. My brother and I cried so much. 😂 🙈

Honestly it’s a wonder we don’t hate her.

I had my bed left

i worked for it all-she didn’t buy any of it

my crime?

my room was a bit untidy

and still to this day she laughs about it like it’s a funny story and people either laugh or look at her in horror

I’m nc with her now-and the narc cow can’t see why-it’s not the worst but was the first thing that came to mind

My mum and dad never did anything horrific, I'm very lucky.
They did have a clear favourite though, and it wasn't me. I'd say that changed when my Grandparents passed away, because I'm more emotionally available and reliable than my siblings..but I am that way because of my Grandparents who I idolised.
I'm intensely into not having a favourite with my own kids. I honestly don't have one, all of them are completely different people & I appreciate those differences. I'm very vocal about that and very huggy and kissy, I say I love you every day. (I wasn't allowed a hug after I turned 10 because I had to be grown up and not ask for baby ish things)
I'm sure I make my kids cringe at times. Tough. I grew you, get loved and like it 😂

My mum witnessed awful things growing up, her mum was an alcoholic and she witnessed her mum stab her one of many boyfriends. My mum had to wash her knickers in the bath when she had a bath, she did all the cooking and cleaning when she was around 10 years old and looked after her 3 younger brothers. Her mum passed away of alcoholism before I was born, when my mum was really young. Heartbreaking.

My mum over fed me , sounds funny but it's not it's led to a lifetime of struggling with my weight .
She was a single mum , my dad took his own life when ones two so I get why she was like she was. She basically did what was easiest for her which wasn't always he best thing for me ..... She would give in to my every demand , she would feed me whatever I wanted , give me days off school as I didn't like it , and reward any good behaviour with food treats . It resulted in me being overweight my entire childhood , being bullied , having anxiety and panick attacks , refusing to leave the house for 6 months . I went totally off the rails as a teenager , didn't go to school , made some shitty mistakes 🙄
But I've come out the other side of that , and I definitely am not repeating the same mistakes with my son .
I'm in no doubt all my mum did was out of love and being in a horrible situation , I love her to pieces and talk to her every day.

Oh god, I’m so sorry you’ve had to endure all that, it must’ve been awful. 🙁 I’m glad you’ve went on to have a happier life with your adopted family and are getting the love and care you should’ve had right from the start. *hugs to you* ♥

I have a sibling and I do alot for my parents as anyone would however my (older) sibling does buggar all. She doesn't bother with birthday cards or presents for them but she gets them in return. My folks would drop everything to go and help her where she lives 300 miles away however doesn't help us and we live 20 mins away. It seems my sibling cant do anything wrong in their eyes.
I've come to the conclusion the more you do the less its appreciated.

My dad was having an affair (we didn’t know obviously) and took us on holiday with her and her family while they were doing it. He was also fucking horrible to me, putting me down, calling me stupid and shouting in my face a lot. I have self esteem issues and trust issues ^wonder whyyyyy^

That what happens to my ex-best friend. She came home one night from staying at her BF to find all her clothes were in ashes and anything remaining in the rubbish bin. Her crime - the mum thought she was spending too much time at her bf house.
She was so devasted that she moved away from her mum and completely cut all ties.

I cut all ties over a phone bill and when she rang demanding 3 of my kids for the day
she hadn’t bothered with them for months but wanted to show my aunts what a top nana she was having them for a few hours-cos ‘I’m always having them-she’s a shite mother who’s always dumping them on me’
i saw my arse and walked
she was heard wailing ‘but I need them today!what will my sisters think?’
not my circus not my monkeys

I just want to say how sorry I am for you, that must've been so awful for you. Sending you lots of love.
Thank you-that means a lot
it has left me with issues of over buying crap with no attachment to the stuff but I’m getting there slowly

At aged 9/10 ish mine used to take me to boots weekly get me weighed and tell me I was too fat and that she didn't even weigh as much as me when she was an adult. She would delight in telling everyone how she hadnt ever weighed as much as I did. My brother used to taunt me calling me fatty and if i told on him she would say 'well you are' I felt like a disgusting fat monster and became very miserable and bitter. She never told me she loved me or hugged me or anything.

I had had some growing issues which were treated with hormone injections and my consultant told her to watch my weight as it was creeping up. She became very defensive and told him it wasnt her fault and that she made sure I ate healthily.

At about age 13 my weight was normal because I was always on a calorie controlled diet that I had put myself on.

Weirdly at about aged 16 we became really close and she became my best friend, really positive, telling me I was beautiful, always supporting me etc and we were close until she died a few years ago. It's like for a few years of my childhood she became a different person and was emotionally unavailable but those years do affect you.

Mine used to force feed me when I wouldn’t eat - I had a lot of issues with textures and tastes and they’d make me sit there for hours trying to get me to eat my dinner. I still have issues with food to this day.

They also used to leave me to babysit my younger siblings from when I was 10 (youngest was 2 and still in nappies) although it was only for an hour or so at a time while my mum popped to the shops and I was pretty sensible - I’d previously looked after a friend with a seriously broken leg and called him an ambulance etc on my own.
