I remember reading an article in the paper many years ago where a couple named their son Drew, only problem was his surname was Peacock and they couldn't figure out why people was laughing. If you say Drew Peacock really fast you know what i mean . The kids name had since been changed.

There was a girl in my year group at school called isis

It was probably after the Egyptian Goddess Isis. Theres also a river Isis I think its near Oxford I could be wrong. I think it quite a pretty name shame that it is now associated with a terrorist group.

We have just been approved for adoption of a little girl who will already be two months old by the time we have her home with us, and while I respect that she's been given a name it's a very traditional Polynesian name from the island she was born on, and would be seen as EXTREMELY quirky here. I like the name nova, but my wife can't agree on anything haha. Any ideas would be great

There's a sixteen year old girl on TikTok who's called her daughter Mabel-Ocean-Mai (hyphenated, not 'Ocean' as a middle name!) and it makes me cringe a little bit. Mabel is gorgeous but Mabel Ocean?! Other potential names were Fox-Coast, Hunnie-Amethyst and Forest-Sailor apparently. I quite like 'out there' names but to me they just sound like the random usernames you get when you sign up to a website!

I don't have children but if I had a girl I'd name her Winona, and if I had a boy he'd be named James. I've always loved James. I really struggle with girls names though!

(I also want to call my cat Wanda, if that counts? lol!)

Already have our lists!! The problem is I work with children so names can get crossed off that list pretty quick!! If you also work with children you know what I mean.

Girls names: Elsie(after my grandma), Penelope, Posy, Opehelia

Boys names: Arthur. Theodore, Flynn, Atticus

We really liked Wren for a girl when I was pregnant but we had a boy. We still like it though for future children but I'm worried it's a bit out there:/

I also really love Violet for a girl but my partner hated it.

I’ve got toddler girl/boy twins and we found it really hard to decide. I’m not really a fan of the quirky names either, each to their own it is just not something I would pick for my own children. We had:

Girls
Charlotte
Grace
Amelia
Isabella

Boys
Leo
Miles
James
Thomas

In the end we went with Charlotte Grace and Leo James. My only regret (whilst I still love her name) is that everyone assumes we went with Charlotte because of Princess Charlotte, where as it’s just a name we loved.

My son and daughter in law are alking the talk at the moment and hopefully in a couple of years they will have a baby and I will be a nanny! We were talking about baby names one night and somehow we both came up with Olive, baby olive is now a feature of our conversations lol. As in you can do this with baby Olive or when you have baby Olive. If and when Baby Olive ever arrives I am sure it will be like Neil the Baby as in Gavin and Stacey, 10 years old and still baby Olive

I absolutely love the name Meadow but my husband says people will just think we chose it because of the Sopranos.

Ive also always loved the name Bridget but I’m now married and my surname is Jones so I just couldn’t

I have a baby girl, I gave her a very traditional strong name which was once very popular but isn’t even in the top 100 now, I like the fact that no one else in her class, or probably even school will have the name, but it is instantly recognisable and everyone knows how it is spelt, pronounced etc, not a fan of try-hard quirky names where the kid is forever going to have to explain how it’s spelt and eveything

Other names I loved were Harriet, Annabelle, Minnie, ivy, blossom, and Clara, didn’t want anything in the top 100

Boys names I found a bit harder. really loved Arthur and Theo but they have both become extremely popular which puts me off

I’m Scottish so I am partial to a Scottish name. I also really like Irish names because they have a similar feel.

In terms of style I like names that aren’t crazy and unheard of but also not overly popular which is a difficult balance

Top Girls:
Alba - If I had a baby girl today, this would be her name - Alba is the Scottish Gaelic name for Scotland.
Alisa - Scottish again. There is a tiny Scottish Island called Alisa Craig. I’d be worried people would assume her name is Elsa though, as in Frozen . I think in some accents they would pronounce them the same where as with a Scottish accent there is a clear difference between the A and the E sound.
