I like it I’d pronounce it as my la not me la as I think post people would

Not a single person will know that though and your kid will go through life having their name mispronounced and having to correct it!

I know people who pronounce it that way already.

My point is if you use a name that’s commonly pronounced one way (it’s always Me-lah where I’m from, I know loads of kids called it!) and expect people to pronounce it another way, your kid is going to have a frustrating life. Like calling your kid Geoff and insisting they pronounce if Gee-off.

My surname begins H and has 2 syllables too. I had the same problem picking a middle name, I wanted it to be short so along the lines of Rose/Grace/May etc.
I went with Florence in the end! Not what I was looking for but just fell in love with it.

I love Florence!! I’m defo open to a longer name too but I have some nice ones in mind already just trying to weigh up the options

Agree Maya or Heidi I prefer over Madison. Madison I think American cheerleader.

Careful with Irish names, I have a welsh name and not one English person can pronounce it, Scots are fine and even some Europeans but a no no in England. I also got sick of people asking me how to spell it or just spelling it totally wrong. It was annoying and RIoghan would have the same effect.

There’s a Keith and Wayne in my y8 child’s year (so 12 or 13 years old) which makes me lol

My 12 year old at school with an Ian.

So there’s parents looking at their newborns and saying ….aww Keith….Ian ??

I’m 25 weeks pregnant with a boy and decided on the name Koby. Took a while for me to decided on I or with a y. But just been told in another thread it sounds chavvy . But personally I love it

Someone on the names you can’t stand thread said the name I have for my son is chavvy. it’s not chavvy at all people are always gonna have an opinion, as long as you love the name nothing else matters

none are names I had in mind before pregnancy and keep coming back to them. All honest opinions are welcome! It’s so hard when you want to know friends and family opinions but don’t want toshare your name until the baby is here!

I'm really into what is called "traditional" names so things like Ivy, Elizabeth, Laura, Mary, Amelia for girls and James, William, Michael, David, Peter, etc for boys. Probably quite boring to some but I feel you can't go wrong with the classics, they are timeless and just so much more appealing to me than being wacky for the sake of it like calling your kid Pilot Inspektor or Banks or something!
