Being a huge hp fan I'd never hear the end of naming my kids after characters despite the fact that it's the name itself I like but I do like Severus and Hermione

I hate to break it to you but these girls' names are going to be the Sharons and Traceys of the next generation, they're so common now.
(They're all lovely names, apologies to anyone who has used these names, I've got granddaughters with two of them. Apologies to any Sharons and Traceys too, I've also got a very common 60's-70's name, and my best friend is called Tracey, as is my sis-in-law, and two of my colleagues! )

I don't think Jenna is dated and it goes well with a Mac name (as long as it's not MacKenna ).

I'm really into what is called "traditional" names so things like Ivy, Elizabeth, Laura, Mary, Amelia for girls and James, William, Michael, David, Peter, etc for boys. Probably quite boring to some but I feel you can't go wrong with the classics, they are timeless and just so much more appealing to me than being wacky for the sake of it like calling your kid Pilot Inspektor or Banks or something!

I have a Harvey, Toby and Sebastian. I love old fashioned names so probably not everybody's cup of tea but they fit well with my own name, my mum's etc.

Our daughter is Juliet and I'm currently pregnant with our second baby, gender unknown.

We both like Eleanor, my only reservation is that I hate Ellie and Ella as nicknames and unfortunately they're both fairly likely.

Phoebe is another we agree on but we just don't love it as much as we did Juliet.

I like Lydia, Mabel and Willa but my husband isn't totally sold on Lydia or Mabel and hates Willa with a passion

For boys we both like Harvey, Malcolm and Calvin, but again none of them are jumping out quite as much as Juliet did for us. When I was pregnant with her we were set on Theodore nn Theo if she was a boy, but it's so popular now we've gone off it completely.

We have some nice enough names we agree on, but I want something we really love like our daughters name. Such a hard job naming babies!

When i was pregnant i fought so much with my hubby about names, he hated everything i suggested !!!

Lol if I have a boy my boy is gonna be sebastian and future hubby will be getting told that, had my eye on that name since I was 9 an it's never changed

I also think it's important to like the shortened versions of names as chances are when they are older it may go to that with friends, my neice is bethany but her mum HATES Beth which is stupid since school friends may call her Beth an there's a chance she may want that as well, I for one refuse to use my full name an go by the shorternd version as I hate it lol

Wasn’t sure which thread to come to so I have posted this on ‘best baby names’ aswell.
I won’t tell you the exact first name I have in mind as I’ll probably jinx it but it’s similar to Bernie. Looking for maybe 1 syllable middle name that’s girly and pretty. Our surname has 2 syllables and begins with H.
Appreciate any ideas!

My surname begins H and has 2 syllables too. I had the same problem picking a middle name, I wanted it to be short so along the lines of Rose/Grace/May etc.
I went with Florence in the end! Not what I was looking for but just fell in love with it.

Juliet is a lovely name. Your girls names all go will with it but I just can't see Juliet and Malcolm or Juliet and Calvin going well together.
