Autumn #5 🍂

It's been pouring down today and a lot of wind. I had such a cosy morning with coffee and a scented candle! Didn't feel so good to go out, but I had a lecture to attend, however it felt quite fresh and nice. Came home to a brownie I made yesterday (I'm taking some medicine that makes me eat like crazy but whatever), and it felt so cosy eating it with some tea and watching the weather after having been outside in the cold

I've been sorting my winter coats out . I've got a short warm jacket and a more waterproof out to hang on the peg by the door. I'll probably need that tomorrow.

I can’t believe we’re nearly at the end of October, I love this month and it’s flown by! Currently sat on the sofa working on my laptop with The Nightmare Before Christmas on in the background and a Devon Wick cinnamon sugared pecans wax melt burning.

The weather is absolutely gorgeous and perfect today, a blue sky with no clouds in sight, very cold but so nice 🍂 We’re going on a lovely walk with the dog when I’ve finished work, then I went to M&S the other day for some picky bits to have tonight as I didn’t want to wait until Halloween to do our little picky bits dinner so I may have to do it twice 👻

Speaking of M&S, they’ve got loads of Christmas stuff out (not actually much Halloween stuff in mine which was a bit sad) but they’re doing a Rosé mulled wine this year and it’s DELICIOUS. We’re going back today for more because something happened to the first bottle 👀 I have to limit myself to only occasional visits to M&S because my bank account unfortunately cannot tolerate it 😂

Hope everyone has a lovely, cosy weekend whatever you’re doing! 🎃

It is SO cold today, but gloriously sunny! Got two washing loads out drying.

I've been taking advantage of the last of the light-after-work nights and going for my post-work walk around the local forest. Looks like the weather will play ball for me this evening, too. I also can't believe it's so late in October. I stocked up on the Body Shop's Sugar Pumpkin shower gel and got the body mist online, I absolutely love the smell. I'm not usually a fan of perfume, and certainly not a sweet one, but this is so subtle and identical to the shower gel and moisturiser.

The weather has bypassed autumn and is very wintry now. It was 6°c and drizzling. I was wearing my long puffer and a hat . I haven't got acclimatised to the cold yet .

I spectated/bag held/coat held for family members yesterday as they did a half marathon, so I had a lot of waiting and standing around to do. I wore my new coat that I bought for a whim on ebay, one of those Regatta versions of a 'dry robe coat', which runs oversized. I looked hilarious wearing it but it was fantastic at keeping me warm from 8am-12pm in 4-6 Degree weather. It's too comical to wear to work but it shall be my weekend walking coat. I felt so smug (and snug) and warm 😅 This time last week I was thinking of sending it back because I thought oh this won't work, but my impulsive thoughts won and teared off the tag and said jusssssst keeeeeeep itttt 😂🤷‍♀️

I do tend to go for about a 2 hour walk most weekends so I suppose it will get used.

And here was me a couple of years ago mocking dryrobe wearers 😂 What made me search ebay recently was when I was on one of my walks I saw lots of dogwalkers looking very snug and warm in Regatta or dryrobe or other brand of the same type, whilst I was still feeling chilly in my jacket length fleece and waistcoat. Having something down to my knees is a game changer. That plus fleece lined leggings.

One thing I will say though is the Regatta version is a bit loud noise wise, but that might be because it is new and it is waterproof. But then again some of my other Berghaus/Trespass jackets are too.

Now I have reached mid 30s and with mild asthma I'd rather look like a snug gnome and cover my body with warmth than underdress and get ill.

TLDR: those long dryrobe style coats are actually quite fun to wear on cold days.

Where I live it has been snowing for the past week, and there is quite a lot of snow on the ground for this time of the year. Usually it waits 'till november. It is rather wet snow, and it's a bit slippery outside though. The yellow leaves on white snow is so pretty!

I'm struggling with it this year, I lost my mum unexpectedly in December and we loved shopping for Autumn and Christmas and it just makes me sad thinking about being excited for it.

The problem with Autumn is colds, coughs and chest infections.🤕
I cannot recommend high strength vitamin d tablets enough. My son and I are very asthmatic and had a long history of awful chest infections and coughs. I read a recommendation somewhere for taking it every day and it has truly changed our lives. We have gone from 6 chest infections a year between us to zero.

i love it when it rains all day but the rain isn't freezing cold
i might not make sense but summer and spring rain is different to winter and autumn rain
