I do not have kids and I'm not defending just genuinely curious what the difference between forward and rear facing is? Is it a safety thing?
Yep. In an accident where the child is forward facing, it can cause catastrophic injury and death. Head, neck and shoulders are thrown forward, even in a side on collision they are still thrown around in the seat.
When they are rear facing, that body load in an accident is hugely reduced, and the seat itself absorbs the impact- not the child’s body. It also retains the child’s spine, pelvis and head in a neutral position, reducing the risk of severe injury (or death).
The saying goes broken neck = casket. Broken leg = cast it. Any child can be injured in a car accident. But having them rear facing means they’re 100x more likely to actually survive and not sustain life threatening injuries or disability.
A child’s skeleton undergoes huge, huge changes until age 3/4. Australia laws are so, so behind where we legally “allow” children to forward face from 6 months. Age 4 is recommended, and seats are designed to go as long as possible. There are always exceptions and parental justification such as car sickness or intolerance- extremely rarely (without a genetic condition) is the child Actually *too tall* 🤦🏻‍♀️ you’ll hear that a lot.
This is a really good video about it to visualise the difference:
Similarly, children should be boostered until they are at least 9 years old, or 145 cm standing AND pass the 5 step test. Adult seatbelts are designed for a minimum of 145cm height, and while it’s “legal” to have a child using a lap sash seat belt with no booster from age 7, it’s not recommended. i’ve seen it be the difference between a 9 year old child walking out of a wreckage being in a booster seat, or being quadriplegic.
Best practice doesn’t always align with laws which is very unfortunate.

On a snark point, it’s extremely disappointing to see people with platforms not advocating or educating about car seat safety. It literally is life or death.

I knew Anna Heinrich was pregnant in the last picture she posted (by the pool with a jersey wrapped around her waist). Maybe they were planning to try after Europe and that’s why they had to ditch the first kid for so long as a last hurrah.
Hey google, what celebrity couple should probably not have more kids considering they barely enjoy the first one?

This influencer Nat @nat_dee__ on instagram, has her THREE MONTH OLD INFANT in a forward facing car seat.
And her one year old in forward facing too.

She is also selling home made breastfeeding cookies which is illegal but compared to the car seat situation this is actually less evil

She is so tiny. And was born prem I think a month early,
How scary is this to see

Anyone else sick of LDB constant the voice vote yes content? And the way she attacks anyone with a different opinion on any topic not just the voice.
I think her content has been exceptional. But I’m a yes voter. She said from the beginning that if people wanted her to explain it she would but she’d be encouraging people to vote yes because that’s what she believes. I guess it would be annoying to anyone who’s a no voter. Which you must be.

I had to watch more to find out, it was so strange! It’s HER mum according to a story she posted. But he wasn’t even heading towards her, he was heading somewhere else, but definitely not towards Mia 😂
What a ride motherhood will be for the self-centred, narrow-minded spoilt Mia, having to put another human’s needs before her own. There isn’t enough popcorn in all the world…
Whenever I see a gender reveal and the couple embrace others instead of each other I’m always like 👀👀

My children could swim well by 2 years of age. They all could surf by 4-5 independently. They water is shallow. If he went under a parent would be there within 10 seconds. He just need to able to get himself to the surface. I don't think this is overly dangerous. It not like he is being left unsupervised. I have heaps of similar videos. With my children being a lot younger than this. We have never had a child go under. I have a very large family.
She had another kid with her so it’s not as easy as just running off to get him (pregnant too so potentially a little slower) - leave Bambi alone near the water to go get Navy lol recipe for disaster…

that’s great no one in your family drowned but others have there’s a reason why public pools say under 5s need to be in arms reach of parents :)

Is Lauren Dubois seriously filming herself making funny reaction videos to her house being broken into last night? Wtf is wrong with her? Is there anything she won’t do for engagement?? Ick
I guess she shares a lot of her life with the followers & it would have been so scary, maybe making fun of a poor situation.
I just wished that her husband fucking went to town on the cunts, guess he has restraint.
I’m sick of these degenerates breaking & entering, taking shit that’s not theirs, proves even influencers are not immune like the rest of us.

Maria Thattil, the vile Narc, is now using the sad passing of comedian Cal Wilson …to boost her ever-growing, overblown ego. Posting an audio where Cal praises ‘the beauty queen‘ & her ‘multi-dimensions’! Instead of sharing something that highlights Cal’s much celebrated talents ….this wannabe media-pest manages to make it all about herself.

I wish her and Moana would eye-fuck EACH-OTHER into obscurity

Does anyone find Matty J funny?? All he has done since Laura has been away is post reels about how he couldn't single parent and his mum/MIL has been there the whole time doing everything for him. I used to like him but now he just reminds me of Brad Kearns, trying to be relatable but it's just completely misogynistic.

She’s in Syd, and I’ve just done a massive search and I don’t think it’s an Aus car seat!

It’s called Maxi Cosi kore pro I-size.

no aus seller seems to have it
When the car seat matching your car’s interior is more important than your child’s safety.

Imma just going to say that Moana Hope needs her own thread. I don’t know why she annoys me so much and why I can’t look away. Any peeps with me on this or do I crawl back under the table?

After reading everyone's comments on this and Clem's response - I now totally understand the side about why his reel was problematic. I stupidly skimmed over it at the start, but yes, since he linked up with Jam Pikelets his content has totally changed 🤢

One thing I've considered as well which makes the whole situation worse is that Laura always preaches about how he is an amazing dad and does his share of parenting ... so her thinking this is funny and a lighthearted satire joke is actually quite hurtful to the mums out there that maybe don't have as much support as she claims to have! Very smug reaction from her but I wouldn't really expect anything less - find her very overbearing and rude and never understood the appeal.
She's also getting worse as her jewelry brand and life uncut get bigger.
I won’t watch her response because I can’t possibly roll my eyes back any further in my head (and full disclosure: I don’t follow either of them) but I find the bar is so depressingly low for men when it comes to parenting - he should share the parenting load because he is also their parent. What a shocking concept to grasp!

There is money in them as a couple from a brand perspective so she’s going to gush about what a wonderful father he is whether it’s true or not. Maybe he is, or maybe he’s just doing what I would expect of a father of two.

Side note: her ugly jewellery line is giving early 2000 Samantha Wills

Even if these big brands gift wealthy people baby items why can't they gift two so the person can do a give away! I say baby items specifically as they are so expensive and these influences seem to be able to afford them already!
I don’t trust Insta giveaways/comps anymore. I have an acquaintance who is a regular joe like you and me but she has a very perfectly curated Jesus loving, white, blonde, blue eyed, Amsterdam filtered Instagram account. The amount of ‘random’ giveaways she wins (at least 20 in the last year or so) means you know that these brands do not do a lucky draw. They go through the entries and find the most perfectly curated Instagram accounts to show off their products. Fuck them all.
