I can’t stand whispers red. Nothing about her is appealing and I’ve not gotten any asmr from a single video of hers.

I don't mind her stuff and it can be relaxing sometimes, but have you seen that video she did a while back where she visited a real life ASMR experience in California or something? It was unintentionally hilarious. They all start singing 'IS IT NOW?' over and over at one point and I still don't know what they're even asking. I don't think I'd be able to keep a straight face if I visited somewhere like that.

This! I suppose it's a trend now and many artists are getting popular from tiktok and bringing this style to YouTube. It is not relaxing to me in anyway and it being all over now makes it hard for me to find new creators. Some long time asmrtists have even transitioned to this style.

Due to this plus tongue clicking I've actually found myself going back to the og asmrtists who never changed their style like whispers red. Starling ASMR also has a make up channel that's been my go to recently

I love Starling! Her videos are consistently good. I found BellaBree via TikTok and I think that's one good thing to come out of it because her soft/inaudible whisper is great.

agree, even the fact she had a book job was ridiculous if she is claiming to be so obsessed with things being "natural" etc, what is natural about putting silicone in yourself totally unnecesarily? I didn't realise how much money she must be making until last year (I think) when she basically just jetted off to france on a whim when her and the bf had a fight

I happened upon one of her recent videos where she just leased a horse for 6 months and she said she started riding October 2020.

Can you imagine starting a hobby 4-5 months ago and deciding you are too good to use the horses they have for riding lessons and needing your own horse? JFC.

Yeah, she did a video wayyyyyy back in the day about how she got to the US and it was so dodgy. Her and her friend basically applied for what they thought was a language exchange programme kind of trip, paid for accomodation in the US and tickets from Russia to NYC and when they got there, nobody was there to meet them from the phoney language programme thing but then some guy showed up, I think pretending to be a kind of good Samaritan and drove them somewhere and basically just gave them the choice of either working as strippers or domestic staff. They ended up essentially cleaning sketchy hotels for no money and weren't even provided with food. She talked about how she ended up going to the party where she met her ex husband and all she wanted to do at this party was eat the food as she hadn't eaten in days. It was really sketchy and I suspect there was more to it than she was letting on.

I guess it depends on your definition of classy. Raw cleavage and 'mouth sounds' (use your imagination as to what they sound like) don't seem too classy to me. Almost one year ago exactly, she was mocking some (rude and stupid) man who emailed her to suggest she do girlfriend roleplays and sex it up in her vids, giggling with all her followers about such gross ideas... just recently she put out a Patreon vid as a wife welcoming her husband home in a boobie shirt. And now the people going 'wait a moment luv' are the ones getting dragged. Most of her fans are respectful and encouraging but she seems to take that one bad comment out of a hundred personally and go looking for head-pats.

I say this as a longtime fan too, and I know she's gotta make money to cover the atrocious price surges over there. There are definite signs that she's not really enjoying this new direction, like with the things she's retweeting. If I had a magic lamp i'd wish for her to find a million pounds and not have to make any content she doesn't want.

On a positive note, I really like SemideCoco's channel, she has such a warm personality and her videos are very relaxing!

To be honest I don't watch her enough to have noticed all that. This gives me a whole new perspective and I'm sad to hear this. I'm with you on this one I hope she finds herself a bunch of money and goes back to making what she wants

yeah exactly, wow "only one bathroom"......... as someone of a similar age (no idea of her age now, but I am mid 30s) her description of it being small etc was insulting, do normal 2 bed flats have more than one bedroom?

no ... its not small at all its a really nice sized apartment. one bath is totally normal for two bedrooms too, especially older apartments and homes, which are nicer to me and have more character....maybe in like new construction around US cities people expect a master bath and a second bath ? shes so out of touch and up her own ass so her point of view isn't reliable lol

Her ASMR content is first class, the rest is narcissistic and voyeuristic. She wants to be taken seriously, yet relies heavily on sexualised content, rather than actual talent.

I’ve been loving wood soup ASMR as well even though it’s not my normal style of what I like. I would actually like to make wood soup but have no idea how to acquire everything used.

I bet you could go to a pet store and find bird toys or hamster toys and cut them apart. A lot of those things use wooden beads and blocks.

Poor Chloe. I watched her for years and loved her and thought she always looked so cool and topshopy back in the day with her collared shirts, red hair and eyeliner.

Lilywhispers can do one. She's wanted to be an influencer for years. Detest her mouth sounds and Kylie Jenner vids. Pissed me off how she went after Mary southern asmr so hard for being a republican then apologised. No, if you're gonna drag someone so publically then be sure of your stance.

I didn't know that about Lily! I think she gets so flattered when people say she looks and sounds like Kylie Jenner and she's clearly gotten lip fillers and a boob job lately. I knew it was all going wrong when I saw her making videos about TiktokerYoutuber drama.

I really hope Chloe feels like she can come back at some point but I know how scary it is. I think she worked at Lush for a while because she used a lot of their products in her videos and I enjoyed that. Her videos seemed way more natural than anyone else's.

I actually can't stand the true crime whisper ASMR videos. They feel very weird as a basis for relaxing...

That's true, I guess it's very marmite-y. I think some people who watch them enjoy hearing about a true crime case but some people just enjoy them because it's close up factual whispering which is easy to tune out while you're studying or working and it isn't personal rambling like most whispering-only videos. I've seen videos where some people close up-whisper while reading from non-fiction books, even just recipe books and I guess it's the same concept but you're right, it's not really appropriate to use someone's tragedy as a soundtrack or a relaxing thing.

I haven't seen an update (mainly because I haven't checked) but I hope she's okay. Last I heard she knew where he lived and was frustrated that the police wouldn't do anything about it. He told her that he'd bought a car for her or something and that freaked her out even more. She was very stressed because a bakery company was suing her for using a 'similar name' for the bakery company she owns with her boyfriend so it seemed to be a huge pile on of stressful stuff for her and she wasn't in a good place.

I really like RosyASMR too, I find her South African accent very relaxing and I like her roleplays as well as her cooking videos.

VisualSounds1 is also an OG and I'm so glad that she's still making videos. Some of her early lo-fi videos are the best ASMR on YouTube in my opinion. Creators like Creative Calm, LottieLoves, Gloss and Tingles, Scottish Murmurs etc are all in the same category for me, their videos don't really seem to have much creativity or give me tingles but they seem to want a lot of attention.

What do you guys think of Starling ASMR? I do enjoy her make up videos and she seems to have a weirdly high quality camera that makes me feel a bit odd when I watch her videos.

I'd like to know what happened to Pelagea. She's always been a bit weird but I did enjoy one or two of her very early videos but I remember there was a bit of a kerfuffle in the ASMR community about her a few years ago regarding how different she looked, whether it was weight gain or something which I didn't really understand why it was such a big deal.

Love ASMR! ItsBlitzzz is a fave of mine - I rewatch her videos all the time, always like the aftercare at the end with a drink and snack for her participant (although my god she knows some beautiful women - surely they are all models?!)

WhispersRed too although I'm not a fan of role-play ASMR which she does a lot more of nowadays. She has a lovely calming voice though and one of the hair videos with her cousin (Nicole?) must be my most watched video on YouTube

PsycheTruth is another one I watch a lot of but they do a lot of member only content now on YouTube - must be a new feature as they just used to promote their Patreon. I also find sometimes their videos can be quite sexual but I think a lot of people commented on this and they've toned it down a bit in general but the odd one slips through and I'm just a bit

Yeah Julia did (I think) a video explaining why all her friends are so beautiful - she lives in LA and used to dance for a living so knows a lot of dancers/models/general LA types I think was basically the answer.

I don't generally like roleplay unless it's really soothing and I find most of Emma's are. I hate spraying sounds though and she does a lot of these early on - so does Julia

I've not seen PsycheTruth I don't think, I'll have a look. The member only stuff is annoying though - I get that ASMR isn't as easy to make money from on YT because it's hard for them to ad place (I use premium anyway) and often get demonetized because people report but I'd have more respect if they made EXTRA content for members/patrons/whatever rather than obviously spending their time on doing that and giving everyone else poor content.

It reminds me of when Gibi tried to set up her own app - Zzzs? or something - it was like $10 a month and the money was spread equally across all of the ASMRtists contributing (with her at the top of the pyramid taking more) - it went down really badly, I didn't follow it afterwards but there was a big reddit thread on the ASMR sub talking about it.

A couple of my lesser known favs are ESC Reality - she does roleplays mostly but uses backing music which I really like and has a creepy sort of vibe - she actually records all her videos and then adds the sounds on post production - you can kind of tell she's lip syncing sometimes but I think this is amazing as most of her videos are over an hour long and it makes the sound quality absolutely AMAZING. She has an aromatherapy massage video that I listen to at least once a week.
Also TingleFix - she does much more old school just talking and tapping on (mostly) makeup products and has a super relaxing voice

I've noticed recently that Minx Laura 123 has been posting quite often, but with quite low likes, comments etc, but as soon as she posts that she's been bullied or received hate, the interactions increase significantly. Interestingly, none of the hate is public, so not sure if she's realised playing the victim gets her views and likes. It's sad because most of her ASMR is pretty good, but it's becoming annoying

I forgot Darya! She is also one of my favorites. Her videos with her girlfriend are the only ‘couples ASMR’ that actually give me tingles and I don’t find cringe.
