Annoying things your work colleagues do all the time? #9

I’ve got a colleague I’m actually quite friendly with, but honestly she’s quite negative and it’s starting to drain me a bit. There’s rarely a day where she’s just like “yeah, all good” it’s always something, whether it’s work, feeling ill ( literally this one is the most frequent- surprisingly never ill when she is about to go on holiday), not sleeping, or something else going on.

On top of that, her main job is doing client presentations, and she completely spirals every single time. And I mean every single time. It’s not even occasional, she’s doing them weekly at this point. The morning of, it’s constant messages about how nervous she is, how she can’t do it, etc. I do try to be supportive because she is actually good at them, but hearing the same panic play out over and over is honestly quite exhausting.

I get nerves, I really do but if something you’re doing every week is still causing that level of distress, at some point you either need to properly address it or question whether it’s the right fit. Because being someone’s emotional support system for the same issue on repeat is just draining

I have some seriously lazy coworkers in my team, we work in the community and one colleague (one of the laziest I might add who always leaves stuff for other people to sort) saw a patient yesterday and because I was on call she added something to my action list to do on her behalf again cus she was far too lazy to do it herself 🙄 yes she had time I might add (spends half of it on tic toc during work hours) which I can’t prove but she does I’ve literally seen it on my kids account! So I called her out on it yesterday asking why she put xyz on there when she had time to do it! She was like I don’t shirk work 🤣 erm of course you do hun all the time 🤦‍♀️ it’s always the same common denominators who do it and get away with it too! Hopefully she’s less likely to do it now she knows I’m on to her but who knows she’ll probably get away with it tho as she’s the bosses favourite 🤨

Yes, social media is where people are caught out. I don't even like a LinkedIn post on my break lest someone sees it and thinks I'm skiving.

I look through it 10 minutes before I'm about to start work, to be on the safe side.

Newbie who is supposed to talk to people about what we do but clearly has no clue.
Shes been here 3 months and has never once asked a question about it, she is now trying to get me to do her job for her. She ducked something big up and boss covered it and fixed it. Now she has to do something similar but wants me to check all her work first, I have enough of my own work to do. She is now sulking because I said no. I really cant deal with her attitude right now.

We have to write monthly reports and quite a few of my colleagues are not IT literate. One in particular drives me mad asking me how to do the same things over and over again. He even prefaces it with ‘I know I’ve asked this before but…’ Stop asking me then!

I work with a very witchy gay man at work and he just loves a bit of passive aggressive messaging if I pick up and email on our shared inbox that he wants to do. As he works remotely it’s not like you can just say out loud in the office is anyone answering this and he never flags what he is working on. Sadly my psychic abilities are not great. Just gets really boring and he also takes over meetings and interrupts constantly whilst saying he can’t help it due to his ADHD. It’s just pig ignorant and rude if you know you’re doing it and even announce you’re interrupting. Grr

I'm getting really fed up with my boss either completely ignoring my emails, or being really short with me. There's no need to be rude! But I can't say that because he'll get nasty, so I just put up with it.

I got a passive aggressive comment from my TL for being 1 minute late. Lazy one was 7 mins late. Nothing gets said. I’ve just walked past them and they’re both on their personal phones. Every time i turn round, the TL is on her phone. Must be why she never tells off the lazy one when her bestie who sits next to her keeps telling the that he is on his phone all day. 🙄🙄🙄 get me out of here. 🤣

Seriously though, its these little discrepancies and double standards that you witness repeatedly and slowly burn a hole of resentment.

We have a shared inbox in our team and whoever is on call that day has to deal with whatever is in it, today I am on call and there’s stuff in there from 2 days ago when I wasn’t even in! 😤 so she blatantly looked at it and decided she couldn’t be arsed to deal with it as it meant her having to do some work, it’s the same lazy coworker yet again! Other day we were short staffed and the ones who had less work were told to help me and did they? Absolutely not! Just an all round tit week tbh sick of lazy people never pulling their weight 🙄

Being told today that your not getting on with your colleagues but it's the first I've heard of it usually I just ignore everyone and get on but now I have a meeting that's highlighted things and I have a review in a couple of weeks. So now I have no idea who has told managers that I'm butting heads with them

Im so annoyed, I work for a big company, I want to complain because at times we are working at least less than minimum wage. They want to save money so will only pay for our written shift but we go over because we have to (food environment) clean department/customer wants serving/ cant leaves serve over but next on cant clock on. I got a telling off because I refused to serve someone 1 minute past, yeah I felt a fool head but im not being paid! Everything is digital and traceable now, I cant lose my job, kids dad is dead so just me. Another thing I've got to smile my way though while this big company sold out yet pretend to be this wholesome happy British family. I'd sell a story.

I had a silver lining in my tit week of work. My store managers manager is mega ducked off with the store manager. 😂 I believe karma is a thing, and I also believe my store manager who has no idea what we do is the one putting in this meeting. I'm very happy that she is doing a tit job

Leaving work vehicles empty of fuel. Got in a car this morning, less than quarter of a tank. I’ve asked the team twice now not to do it and it got raised at our team meeting by one of the managers. Guess who was the last person to use the car yesterday? Yep, the manager.

Being asked at 8.30 this morning what my plans are for next weekend. I’m trying to get through today after a 3 day weekend. I’ve not thought that far ahead, and no, I won’t ask you what you’re doing next weekend because I don’t really care.

Oh god, this. An old line manager used to call out loud enough for the whole office to hear: "Rebecca/Dave, have you read my email?" when you knew from experience she'd only just sent it.

You'd see people's faces visibly struggling to contain their exasperation.

I can go one better, how about dealing with someone, that feels they have to outline your need to respond.
"I await your reply/urgent reply/immediate reply (insert as appropriate) by return". Absolutely infuriating, and turns me into the hulk every time I see it.
I wouldn't mind, but she only pops up once a blue moon. Its not bleepin Victorian Britain love. 🤣

I get this sometimes and it immediately results in the email being categorised as low priority.
