Our current HR manager is leaving. Hallelujah. They consistently ignored my emails and was just kind of there. More concerned with organizing "team building" events and snacks in the break room and not on actually supporting the workers. Hopefully the new person will be more responsive.
One of my tit Managers is leaving I'm so happy he ruins the atmosphere he's just a miserable man

I work with someone that emotionally drains the frigging life out of me she’s so negative all the bloody time, let’s face it nobody loves going to work (I do sometimes) 😂 but she constantly moans about the work she’s given and tries to avoid the more complex tasks so to speak, interestingly from talking to another colleague today I’m not the only one, she’s a grade A mood hover that one 🤭😂 I dread her presence tomorrow 🙈

Two of my managers keep trying to encourage me to move up from my current position.

No chance. Tons more responsibility for minimally better pay.

And I only have to do the minimum of people management in my current role. I'm not taking on any more. That's a mug's game.
AMEN! I have hit the top of my grade's pay scale as a non-manager due to being there 8 years but the next step up is a LOT more stress for a hundred quid more a month after taxes...and that post has been filled 3 times in 3 years so I'm not putting myself there for that minimal extra pay but lots more stress. I know myself I can't cope dealing with other peoples' stuff, I'd implode, so I am at peace with hitting my pay ceiling. I have anxiety most of the time and taking on extra work responsibility is just not a good fit for me. Younger me would be disappointed in me now, but with age I'm learning not everything that glitters is gold.

That old "you're just an admin" mindset. I couldn't possibly know something that these people with their advanced degrees don't know, so they feel free to disregard everything I say. And it comes back to bite them in the butt every time.
I'm an admin because I'm good at it, not because I'm too stupid to get a "better" job.

I find this attitude absolutely bizarre. I went from being a teacher and managing a department to a role in admin, and honestly the admin work was 100 times harder. You cannot take your eye off the ball at all and you’re juggling a million and one different things that those higher up than you can’t do.

I feel too stupid for admin a lot of the time, it’s really hard!

I’m an EA and always overlooked on our weekly team Huddle so it makes me feel like “why should I even attend”, although if I don’t it will be frowned upon. Yesterdays prize comment was around year end & how important it is to make target as it will “affect the bonus that all on this call will receive” - but of course I’m not included in said scheme…..

I always class my work as playing chess - I have to either be four moves ahead or there protecting the important pieces….but they see me more of a backup figure & online travel agent…

Lazy co worker was back in the office on Thursday last week after being on leave. He didn’t know the TL was on A/L Thursday and Friday. He kept asking if she was definitely off on the Friday (when we wfh).
Comes to Friday and he logs on after 9am when it’s meant to be 8am. Spends most of the day away rather than online. It was his birthday, so he was probably bleeping about all day knowing he can get away with it. Why not just book it off?
Today it’s limited staff in the office and the TL is out all day. He’s spent all day so far on his phone or wandering about chatting to people. If someone walks by him, he puts his phone down or tilts it away from them.
Really beginning to lose my patience. He’s on more money than me, yet I seem to have more workload. Make it make sense. I’m eating my lunch in silence fuming. I’ve not heard him type on his keyboard once. Arghh.

I just have to keep telling myself this happens in other businesses, just so I won’t explode 😂 on Tuesday, I told the TL that was taking the piss when she was off on Friday but it always feels like she defends him. She said he starts at 9. I said no, he starts at 9 when in the office because he couldn’t make the 8am starts, then couldn’t make it when it got moved to 8.30, so it got moved to 8.45 and it finally got moved to 9am because he was always late! I corrected her and said she told me he does 8-5 when wfh. Then she started wittering on about the school run. I said it was half term last week, so there was no school run on Friday (where we live).
It sounds petty to moan about it, but I value fairness and consistency and my line manager just doesn’t care.

Yes, it's happening here too! I used to complain about how she gets away with things, but I've given up now. We are teachers and she will do things like not bother teaching maths, not turn up for assemblies, she wears jeans and scruffy clothes. She literally hardly does anything. But nobody does anything about it. You can bet if I didn't teach maths one day, they'd be following me around with clip boards! But to be honest, I couldn't do that because I have integrity and care about the children too much.

Our children have tests coming up and she's already put her excuses in pre-empting bad results. And because my class score better generally in assessments, she goes around saying my class score better because hers have worse behaviour. Senior leaders believe everything she says....

Admin are unsung hero's. Where I work, it drives me insane how poorly people communicate with them, especially younger colleagues and talk down/patronise. Some of my best work pals are in the admin team and they work a lot harder and are more pleasant to be around than some of the idiots earning 3 or 4 x their salary.

My rant today is about an ex colleague. Made lots of little mistakes but generally produced ok work. She thought she was a lot better than she was, acted way above her pay grade and would tell peers on same banding as her what to do, how they could improve etc. She have management advice on how they could improve (!) generally just really annoying and irritated the rest of her team. She recently handed in her notice which was accepted, did something that may have constituted as gross misconduct. HR decided that would be too difficult a route to go down so she's now on gardening leave and on full pay whilst the rest of the team pick up what she left

Do you work for the NHS, was she part time?!

Not NHS. Private practice in a regulated sector - think accountancy, law, banking etc. She was full time so not a care in the world now before she goes off to her new job. She's burned a few bridges with our company but there's plenty of firms out there she can go to. I'm so angry she now has paid time off.

Worked with another guy who was a nightmare. Bad attitude, not a team player, made basic mistakes that could have got us into a lot of bother if not spotted. Final straw was he lied about what work he was doing by charging clients for extra hours. When his time sheets were checked and the work he was charging for, it didn't match up. Because it was intercepted before it went out, there was no actual financial gain and he was another one put on gardening leave so paid in full.

Drives me mad because I'm always worried about messing up on something and loosing my job

Anywhere I worked, the admin were top class, and I have nothing but fond memories of them.
I have said about more than one of them that they could run the country with one hand tied behind their backs.
