Annoying things your work colleagues do all the time? #9

In my work they always ask what's wrong and then it'll get repeated to the whole team (with a guess of when the person will be back)!

Like 'Dan's off today cos he hurt his leg playing football at the weekend, so he might be off the rest of the week depending on what the x ray shows'

Or 'Sarah's sister died suddenly of a heart attack so I expect she'll be off for a few weeks'.

Colleagues absolutely do not need that level of detail about why someone is off!
100%. Nothing is sacred where I work. I reckon if anyone asks from another department, they’ll be updated, too. 😒
I told her why just to shut her up.

So many of my colleagues listen to music or podcasts on their headphones, so if you want to ask them a question from your desk, they’re oblivious.

That is awful!
No confidentiality at all.

None at ours either. When it isn't common knowledge the rumour mills goes into overdrive. I was off sick a couple of years ago and a colleague saw me going into the doctors. "So obviously I wasn't that poorly" erm where do sick people go?!

Just tell them you have D&V - no other details are necessary! Nosy gits 🙄

Tell them you have explosive diarrhea and a period that's like a garden hose going full blast. I guarantee they'll stop with the intrusive questions.

I have to listen to music to drown out the people who sit on Teams calls all day speaking at FULL VOLUME. I walk out of the office with a bleeping headache.

Its those headphones which mean they can't hear themselves. I use them a bit offset on the ear so I can hear my own voice. But idiots just put them on and start shouting!

Emailed my line manager telling them I’d be wfh this week and told them why. He’s on leave anyway, but at least I covered myself.
Text my TL this morning letting them know as I wasn’t feeling 100% and they replied asking what’s wrong. Ffs.
Quoting myself because even though I text her early this morning and said I’d be wfh all week, she still emailed me at lunch asking if it was coming in the rest of the week. 🤯

Colleagues that disappear they seem really good at it just disappear for ages while I'm doing
Flowers checking dates because no fucker did it yesterday
Scanning in gaps
Checking to see how trolleys are I mean I'm doing the other 2 I can't even see the trolleys so not sure how the expect me to do all that while colleagues duck off for half an hour doing whatever I hate my job so much

I hate my job as well, younger staff coming in late, ringing in sick because hungover so more work on me & others, one young girl is on the till does duck all apart from swigging her energy drink & texting when not serving customers, asks stupid questions over the headset so one of us has to check what's wrong, one day she had me at the till because 2 young girls wanted to buy an energy drink zero ID i told her to refuse the sale ffs! She also has one earphone in under her headset as well, but nope nothing is said to her.

The amount of times I’ve seen staff (kids) texting on the shop floor in primark 😂 I even saw one guy hidden behind a stand full of socks with his phone propped up, resting on some socks, watching the football.

She knew she was working Sunday don't go out or go out & don't drink so bloody much, they get away with murder because the management aren't much older than them, pissed me off because I was asked to start early stupid me agreed because need the money but then get it in the neck because I'm doing the job of 2 people!

It's almost comical how many people have sent me work, asking "can you get this done today"? They wait until the day it's due to send it to me? And then expect me to drop everything? All of them? I told my manager that several people want things done today and that it's physically impossible.

What's really annoying is up until a couple of months ago I absolutely loved this job. Everything about it. And then we get super busy and suddenly everyone's panicking and trying to take shortcuts, dumping their work on others and passing along errors because they can't bother to review anything. Ugh.

When I returned from leave a colleague had put a meeting in with me when I was away and sent me messages on Teams asking if I was coming to the meeting despite it being very obvious I wasn’t online. I had an out of office on and my calendar was blocked out. The mind honestly boggles

My diary is open and “some” people regularly put meetings in when I am clearly on leave. Just too lazy to check.

I always have out of office replies setup in my email and mark my calendar as "out of office" when I'm out on vacation. And I STILL get emails and Teams messages asking "can you get this done today?". Um, no, I can't.

There’s a male colleague who always seems to not respect my answers/expertise and then reverts to someone else in the team to ask for a second opinion on my workload and it really does my head in.

Why would I not know what is happening with my own work better than someone else?? And all the major decisions are signed off by managers anyway so I wouldn’t really be the person to take it up with if it’s an issue
