Just realised there were words missing from a sentence from my last post.
It should have said, "I think Katie Jane Hughes has good skin but she isn’t praised anywhere near as much as Alex is for having *flawless/glowing skin* because she doesn’t crank up the blurring and smoothing filters to 11.

Odd way to hold a cosmetic sponge or applicator. Like a claw. LOL

I'm sure her skin is actually glowing for real but she struggles to resist blurring/smoothing apps.

Her trip to Italy looked heavenly. She looks pretty in this pic. The chin shape/size is so constantly different pic by pic though. Pink suits her.

But when I see how she looks in today’s Sunday facial (see 1st pic) and then you compare it to how she’s appeared in YouTube videos (see other pics below), it never ceases to astonish me how drastically different she looks compared to her IG content

Exactly, her Sunday facials make me anxious not relaxed. Far too many products and different ones every time! My skin would be a red sensitive mess after all that.

And I'm sure Alex has mentioned a few times that she has sensitive or easily reactive skin and that's why she doesn't tend to use retinol or tretinoin, Yet different products every week and loads of them.
And we can never see what her skin really looks like. The video quality is always over-exposed with super strong ring lights and ALWAYS with the smoothing, face-shape-changing filters.

Did anyone notice how HUGE her hands look in these videos? It must be the elongating lens of filter. Her hands look oddly HUGE and elongated.

Same. Alex is by no means unattractive but I was quite taken aback when I saw her in person on Westbourne Grove one day. I mean, I have always noticed her excessive, extreme use of beauty filters and ring lights. I knew she was beautifying and editing her pics but seeing her in person was still an eye opener. She absolutely has good skin. I never doubted - she has a really even-toned complexion that is clearly well cared for - but she looked so much older in real life with crows feet, under eye bags and prominent nasolabial folds which are completely removed / concealed on Instagram. What she really takes liberties with is changing her face shape to look skinny with hollow cheekbones. Every candid pic I've seen of Alex on *other* people's Instagrams shows she has a very round and chubby face. I rarely see her without a double chin. Yet on Instagram, she's given herself a "supermodel" face shape with a chin so long and pointy, it could take pickles out of a jar.

I can't think of another UK beauty influencer/content creator over 40 who edits their appearance as extremely as Alex does. I expect this from insecure teenage girls and 20-somethings who have watched The Kardashians too much but not a 40-something beauty journalist who has repeatedly championed herself as "being honest". If you're going to edit the crap out of your face and present a "fake face", at least don't deny it and harp on about how you don't even use filters and pride yourself on being an honest beauty journalist who "tells it like it is".

I've played around with FaceApp for fun and it really does make me look soooo much hotter than I actually am (albeit in a creepy, plastic, devoid-of-character way) but I would never use those FaceApp retouched selfies on social media because I'd feel so outrageously cheeky trying to pass myself off as someone much more perfected. My friends would crucify me if I used a FaceApp selfie as my profile pic. I wouldn't dream of it anyway.

Alex seems to love wearing baseball caps regularly but I think they look a little awkward on her. Like it’s not quite in synergy with her natural appearance. I think a beret or a Panama hat would suit her better.

This is so not politically correct but I remember when my Dad, in his mid to late 50s, suddenly started wearing baseball caps but he never wore them in a flattering way; often the visor part of the cap would be pointing slightly off to the side and my mum and my brother would tease him relentlessly and call it his " 'tard cap" and my mum said it made him look like he had special needs. So when I see Alex wearing her cap, I keep hearing my brother's voice saying 'Oh man, not the tard cap!"

My natural face shape is similar to Alex’s and I find a base ball cap flatters rounder faces somehow? Maybe because it’s cuts off my five head so elongates the face? considering she’s that insecure I imagine she thinks it does the same for here. I don’t wear silly ones like this though

I have a “five head” too. I wish I had a rounder face. I look terrible in all hats which hurts because I love hats. They just look awful on me. Genuinely, I don’t think the baseball hats are unflattering to Alex’s face shape. I just feel that the baseball caps don’t really match Alex’s general persona or what I perceive to her typical image/vibe. I guess I just find 40-something, boujie, Austrian women wearing baseball hats a bit of a mismatch. It’s like Anna Wintour wearing Superdry hoodies with logos.

See, I have the opposite, I have a narrow in depth but wide forehead. Even my doctor kind of makes a joke about it when I go for my Botox. I wish I could wear beanies, but they just don’t suit me.
Anyway, I’ve tried in the past to give myself a face and neck massage in the last, like Alex does, but it I just does nothing for me

Is she sucking her cheeks in so much, her tongue is almost visible when she opens her mouth?!
