I actually just feel sorry for her. It must be really embarrassing being her and I can imagine that she is incredibly anxious and hates every single moment she has to step outside her house and be around real life people. It is absolutely baffling that she continues to do this even though deep down she knows that people know. She surely has some deep mental health issues.

And also, if her looks bother her to this point of extreme editing; she could always lose weight, fix her jaw and get a mini face-lift. She has the means and the network to access the best surgeons. (Not that getting surgery is necessary for her, I think she looks striking but the whole editing bit is putting me off)

omg you totally nailed this. Her Sunday facials have become the pinnacle of dull. Every week sounds the same. The filters on the other hand are just so beyond fake now it’s becoming a running joke. I’ve actually been thinking of unfollowing and now you’ve cemented that u should.

I actually unfollowed her at least 3 years ago but I'll be brutally honest and admit I just can't help but keep her in my search history on Instagram because when I have a free moment to myself, I just feel compelled to check in and see how filtered and blurred each new post is and whether she's issued another denial statement. Like Boris Johnson denying he broke social distancing laws. As I've said in previous posts, I'm pathetically fascinated by how determined she is to deny ANY use of beauty filters. "I don't even use filters". "I never blur my skin"
The wilful, blatant dishonesty is just flabbergasting. "I just want to say, gurrrrrl COME ON. Your denial of using beauty filters is so "cringe"." Her latest selfie could be insanely blurry with her skin digitally smoothed to erase every natural shadow, wrinkle and expression line and she'd still insist it's just good lighting and good genes, hoping we don't head to Getty images to Google what she really looks like. It really is remarkable how willing she is to insult our intelligence. Such an educated woman and yet she is able to convince herself that nobody can tell or prove she's using beauty filters.

I am certain she must delete every comment that dares to ask her about her use of beauty filters. How is it that social media is riddled with trolls leaving terribly rude and insulting comments but how weird that when you read Alex's comments sections, it's nothing but praise. And every time I've spotted a person comment on her use of filters, I notice that comment later disappears. I honestly have never left a comment on her Instagram though because I've seen how unwilling she is to engage in this conversation about her filter use. She's not having it. I saw a beauty brand, think it may have been Augustinus Bader post a video of Alex and I saw several comments like "This woman's face is so filtered" but you won't find such comments on Alex's own Instagram. I'm certain she removes any comment about the filter issue.

I notice her boyfriend sweetly leaves cute emojis under a lot of her posts which is a lovely thing to do and boyfriends should be adoring and supportive but I have wondered if he's thought, "Damn, I love Alex and she's beautiful but she does not look like that!"
I showed my boyfriend Alex's Instagram and asked him, "Be honest. Would you say this woman is using beauty filters?" and he laughed and said, "Uh .. YEAH! It's pretty damn obvious!" and when I told him about how Alex takes to Instagram to deny any use of filters, he just remarked, "It's pretty insulting to anyone's intelligence to deny that selfie is filtered. That is not what human skin looks like."

Anyway, c'est la vie.

Oh I definitely know women who only post selfies that are so blurred and “misty” , it looks like they have no nose !
I actually know someone at work whose LinkedIn profile pic is SO blurred out - looks like she took a selfie with the SnapChat app and then added extra blur and it just looks so strange and unprofessional to have that as a LinkedIn profile pic. Sad thing is, she’s not even “old”! She’s only 31!
I genuinely feel a pinch of sadness and pity when women post tons of extremely blurred selfies on Instagram. Is anyone else slightly creeped out by people whose Instagram account is nothing but selfies?! Like tons of selfies that look identical. Why?! It suggests narcissism coupled with deep insecurity and it makes me feel like something sad is going on in their lives.

Back to this post (sorry - playing catch up)...

I honestly think there is something in this. It's sad, but what is damaging is that she's not just a random influencer (that would be bad enough) but actually a beauty editor with vast influence. She was Glamour Beauty Director for aeons and still has a certain 'authority' in terms of real influence. And yet she is projecting this entirely fake, male gaze, non-progressive beauty aesthetic to her fans who many most likely also have 'issues'. And encouraging them to spend money on (usually expensive) products that likely won't do much to achieve something that's ENTIRELY ARTIFICIAL.

Where is the responsibility of the PRs and brands? I honestly think this is quite serious. It's sad for Alex but also wrong that she is effectively being encouraged by the brands paying her.

Both poor Alex Steinherr and Michael Jackson suffer/suffered with body dysmorphia.

It truly is bizarre to me. Alex seems soooo enamoured with her own face but it’s not her real natural face she is admiring so lovingly, it’s her A.I face. It’s like, BISH ! That’s not real! I honestly believe she’s become delusional. Fantasy has blurred with reality. It’s actually concerning. I think she needs an intervention. I wanna know how she makes her face long when shes on video? You can edit yourself rhat much whilst on video?

Technology for beauty and special effects filters have become extremely sophisticated. It's better than ever. Just look at 'Deep Fake' videos. The FaceApp, for example, allows you to film yourself in motion looking quite convincing as a child version of yourself. It can also apply a flattering beauty filter that gives you the appearance of flawless skim, a slimmer nose etc in video mode which doesn't suddenly stall or glitch like the old, less-sophisticated SnapChat filters.

If you're talking about Alex's mum, I agree. I think Alex's mum is beautiful and seems very sweet. Alex shared a photo of her mother in her youth and she looked nothing like Alex to me so Alex must take after her father. I may not approve of Alex's dishonesty when it comes to using beauty filters but I think her relationship with her mother is very sweet.

Yes! The video filter she employs gives her face a crescent moon or banana shape. I don't know how Alex expects no one to notice.

And I agree, Alex is an attractive woman without the filters but she's using filters to try and present a delicate, skinny, feline 20-something aesthetic when she's a good looking, matronly middle-aged woman. Nobody finds concealment and dishonesty appealing and sexy.

I'm constantly marvelling at how Alex expects people not to notice how drastically different she appears depending on which platform she's on. Her face appears so elongated, pointy and gaunt in her Sunday Facial videos and personal make-up tutorials BUT then, her face appears very round and plump; often with a prominent double chin during her Instagram Live interviews. Although, she definitely applies a blurring filter and uses a strong ring light for the Instagram Live interviews. So many times, I'm seeing Alex in her Instagram Live videos, strongly lit with ring lights with blurry skin whilst her Instagram Live guests look "normal" - happily showing their natural human skin texture because they're secure enough to be filmed without all the "vanity technology".

Alex's efforts to present this highly perfected version of herself is weirdly sloppy at times when she vehemently denies using beauty filters, THEN she'll mention in passing all the time, "I have a very round face" and then she presents us with this elongated, gaunt, 'long pointy chin' face in her Sunday Facials and make-up tutorials. Then she becomes snarkily defensive and offended when people call her out for using filters heavily. Or when followers merely ask her politely if she uses filters.

She should be banned from social media, what a fraud.

In the first recent image she’s posted, she’s used an app to minimise the dimensions of her lower face so extremely, it’s ridiculous. I’m absolutely convinced she’s missing a chip in her head.

She does have great skin and I'm sure it's probably genetic - her Mum has gorgeous skin too.

I think Alex is beautiful (in fact I find her much more interesting to look at in her 'real life' photos vs. the heavily filtered alien-like selfies she puts out - minus the questionable oversized fashion) but I had to unfollow her. She clearly has crippling insecurities and I can't take her word on products seriously when she's going to all that effort to deceive her audience. Really sad.
