Does she have body dysmorphia?
If you're referring to Alex, I strongly suspect so. The extreme filtering is definitely symptomatic of body dysmorphia and for that, I do feel pity for Alex. Two decades of working in the beauty and fashion industry and being around extremely skinny, beautiful under-25 models is bound to stir feelings of inadequacy in most women. From the way Alex tries to pose in her IG videos, the air kisses, the pouting, the smouldering looks, the shameless Zoolander 'blue steel' posing - it feels like what she really wanted to be in life was a model. I strongly have this feeling she once longed to be a model or just someone known for their exceptional beauty. She mentioned once that she had really admired the 90s supermodels but knew that with her tendency to gain weight easily, it was not a possibility but at least she could always enjoy make up and participate in the beauty scene in that way. I saw Alex pose for a side-by-side selfie with model, Rosie Huntington-Whitely once in one of their IG stories and my gosh, poor Alex was fighting for her life, contorting her face, lifting her chin up as far as it would go, pouting her lips, as to not be too outshone by Rosie. Maybe I'd do the same, being photographed next to a model. Although, I thought Alex looked great with this 'lob' haircut in this YouTube interview with Rosie from 2016.

She really needs to step away from the industry. Her filtering and denial are chronic, she needs an intervention.

The idea of an intervention being needed crossed my mind too. Interestingly, I discovered that one of Alex's friends, Delphine AKA @coffeeandbeauty on IG - a former Beauty Director at InStyle magazine posted a video back in April 2022, speaks out against the excessive use of beauty filters and the damaging message it sends to girls and women; that we're not enough.

Anyway, she's a chum of Alex and they recently took a trip away together in the country if I remember correctly from their IG stories. I just thought it was interesting how Delphine - who has spoken out against beauty filters and dishonesty amongst beauty filter abusers - is a friend of Alex. I wonder if she's ever dared to call Alex out or if they've even had a conversation with each other about beauty filter ethics.

I was very tempted to leave a comment asking Delphine what she thinks of Alex's blatant use of beauty filters whilst denying vehemently that she uses filters at all but since they appear to be good enough friends to take spa weekends together, I doubt she'd want to offend Alex and I suspect my comment would be deleted. Alex has publicly, clearly denied using filters or blurring at all. "I don't blur my skin" she has issued in statements on IG so I can't see her saying, "Oh yeah, I totally use filters, Delphine but I'm not going to admit to it!"

Delphine is right though, "It's not ok"

Her face looks insanely filtered to me in the top pic with her sweet mother who also looks FaceTuned. It looks like they’ve used the Hollywood filter on FaceApp.

The difference between what Alex presents to us and how she appears in other people’s photos of her is astonishing.

Half the time she reminds me of Pennywise when she alters her pictures to resemble an upside-down lightbulb.
Aging is not a curse, it's a gift. She needs to stop pretending she's a 20 year old supermodel.

This is all I see when her bathroom selfies and pictures come up...

Upside down lightbulb ☠😂
Funny, because a guy friend of mine saw her instagram and said ‘She looks like an upside egg!”

@Callan And yes, ageing is a gift. Being reminded of that today, RIP Darius. 🥺

Yes, there are days when noticing my skin is starting to lose its elasticity and noticing more fine lines around my eyes feels a little disappointing depending on my mood and mindset that day but I have not and will never filter my photos to the insane degree Alex does. In fact, she indirectly influenced me to refrain from using beauty filters.

I try to look as close to my “real life” self as possible. I will use apps to remove an unsightly pimple (because I get period zits occasionally) once in a while but I don’t use smoothing filters at all. It’s tempting to use the smoothing filter because it does look more flattering when you don’t go nuts with it but I’m too embarrassed to use it for public viewing. I settle for a non-ridiculous flattering angle and good natural day light.

I don’t want to send the message I’m ashamed of my age or that I feel I have something to conceal. I find genuine confidence and self-acceptance so attractive in other people so I don’t want to post selfies in which I look weirdly young and cartoonish. It’s just embarrassing. Like I’ve said before, you just end up making people go all 😳🤨🧐😬 when they see you in person or in an unfiltered pic. You’ve made yourself uglier in their eyes because they were trained to see a hyper-beautified version of you. 🤦‍♀️

^ Yes exactly, she's like an actress in a movie but in reality she's just playing herself. I get that the beauty industry can be toxic and make you feel all sorts of things but this sort of manipulation & denial is weird. She's insecure, I think that's what it stems from. Getting a cute picture and using a flattering angle is one thing, morphing into a cartoon like you said is a whole other thing.

😄 Boy, she is *really* into acting playful and cutesy for the camera like a Japanese teen pop star.
Don’t quite understand her impulse to go with a cutesy nose wrinkle and blink when the point of the video was to promote a lip tint. 🫤

She looks like her own mother in the real life pictures, still pretty but not what she pretends to be.

Can’t she have procedures to give her the face she wants, rather than editing photos?!
I see your point. I prefer the idea of people radically accepting themselves as they are because some procedures are so astonishingly expensive and painful BUT when you find someone like Alex who clearly and painfully cannot bear to see herself as she really is, and it is very clear that she has a huge problem with the dimensions of her lower face and she distorts the true proportions of her jawline and chin, I’m surprised she hasn’t had her jawline or chin shaved down through surgery which I think is a thing?! Jawline surgery for transgender women shaves down the jawline to feminise the jawline. She could have that done. But it would be so drastic and painful.

I’m convinced she hates her jawline. She’s always distorting it and changing its shape. She often makes her chin look like it points down far more centred on her face than it actually is. It does kinda naturally veer off to one side but Betty Boo had a chin/jaw like that and I genuinely think she looks great and it gives unique character when you carry yourself with confidence. Shannen Doherty from BH 90210 also had a bit of a lopsided chin/jaw and looked fine.

Speaking of altering jawlines. Think she’s been at it again subtly in today’s IG stories

I just don’t understand why this is a staple facial expression pose where she does that thing with one side of her mouth. Is she trying to distract from her asymmetrical jaw shape? What is she trying to do? Anyone?
Interesting to see her with all her hair pulled back though. She rarely does this.

It is a mystery to me how she gets to go have hair cuts and treatments at all the top London salons where I’d like to try myself but why can’t any of those top salons revive the shine in Alex’s hair?
I don’t understand how they all leave her hair looking fried right after a salon treatment? My hair is dry and frizzy at the ends and I’m tit at taming my own hair but my local salon always gets it looking smooth and shiny again.

Anyway, the boiled egg look is strong in this photo. Suddenly, I’m hankering for a boiled egg with toast soldiers, butter and Marmite. 😂

Has she admitted to having Botox yet? Those eyebrows are so high they’re trying to escape the egg

Yes! Recently, in a live I think. I definitely watched her mentioning in passing that she’s had Botox recently but she said “think I had too much done in my forehead” so at least she’s honest about that

This pic is funny. Wonder what she was talking about.

She's good looking without the filters. Yes, she looks her age and is heavier than her preferred instagram vision, but she's a good looking woman and looks way more interesting than her insta-hun catfish. It's mad than she thinks looking like a sexy anime foetus is the better option.
