I’ve seen on Twitter that there were other charter flights. Some were charging the earth to get on :(

OMG, that's appalling.
I naively hoped wealthy benefactors were helping without charging.

I haven't listened to the radio or tv today so I'm not up to date.

How many poor souls have been abandoned, do we know?

It could just be one or two that were charging and a lot were free but they wish to remain anonymous. One ticket was in the £3,000 range. I’ll see if I can find the post I saw it on.

At the moment the estimated number is up to 150 Britons and more than 1,000 eligible Afghans that are being left behind. It’s horrible, those poor souls.

Edit: here is one person who was charging over $6,000. https://www.businessinsider.com/jen...ul-evacuation-flight-tickets-2021-8?r=US&IR=T

The US state department was also charging $2,000 and more for repatriation flights for US citizens but changed the rules when people (rightfully) were disgusted.

Hilary Clinton chartered a flight that helped evacuate at risk women and don’t charge them anything.

It is literally the duty of an embassy to protect their citizens, I cannot believe the state dept would have even attempted that, outrageous. And don't even get me started on that $6000 , some people just have absolutely no ethics

That says a lot to me, now I wonder how that will be reported, if at all. Probably some balls about her trafficking them. But nothing will be said about the men trying to charge their fellow citizens to leave.
I can’t believe at a time like this anyone would capitalise on this, but it’s how the rich get rich. And they will have been reliant on these people (probably ex servicemen running security) to safeguard their assets until the last second.

If this is the truth, that he will be last to go and basically British troops are waiting about to do this, I feel a little sick. In the time he’s been waiting and having his stuff off loaded into a warehouse other passengers could have been processed. Might not have been many, but it would have been some. Heaven help if anything goes off now, and we have waited behind for someone who has published every move to isis. This is nothing more than the gov responding to pressure because if he hadn’t have got out, the fallout would have been worse, all the ‘are lads’ lot would have been out in force
I think I’m more upset because the uk gov has sponsored the slots, an raf plane could have taken double the people in that space.
even more upsetting is that he is using Uzbekistan as a landing point. They are turning away people crossing the border for aid with visas that would help them move on elsewhere…... But others are happy to pay them for runway space 🤷🏻‍♀️ Because it will be costing to land and take back off there. Anyone wanting to work with the Taliban will be charging and making the most of it.
This on top of learning how much people were charging to leave is just upsetting.

Not many seem to believe this guff from Biden

Any actual names or proof Joe?
And if you have found him so easily today why didn't you do anything about him earlier?

But most importantly WTF would you risk antagonising the ISIS-K lot into more retaliation in the next couple of days when troops are leaving, and not send the drone to get the guy next Wednesday or so once we're not still trying to fly the last thousands of people out?

He's absolutely insane.

No one will hear anything. refugee charities have been pleading for donations and support for days, but no one bothers because they just see dinghys over here and people breaking through Donald’s imaginary wall over there.

Joe found the big red button.
im wondering if we had a turn coat in all three camps who sold isis out for the biggest dollar he could get. Or we knew who these people were and just needed an excuse to go for them.
wait a mo, have I gone back in time 20 years???

Thank you.

I'll check out GB news tv later or al jazeera tv or talk radio - they do tend to report stuff that the main channels do not.

It's all so very upsetting.

I no longer have confidence in British or American leaders. We are not safe on their watch.

Biden's talk of "we will not forget, there will be revenge" did remind me of Bush and Trump.

I wonder whether there is a different way to approach this.

It’s interesting because the language in another article suggests that they were charging for getting these people to the airport rather than the flights themselves. Granted that’s still a lot of money

exactly, what will revenge be? drone bombings that just end up killing more citizens? trade embargos that also affect innocent citizens? at this point the poor people left there basically have to be fearful of everyone

Some redditors have also pointed out that this has never actually worked in general. You kill one person, another one replaces them and so on

Apparently they have killed an ‘organiser’ already but it’s like… one of many organisers and they will just be replaced?

I know that they don’t exactly have a better choice here, but the whole situation is just stupid and Biden is coming off as some deep 14 year old with all this talk of always remembering and whatever

exactly, killing people who are basically their family/friends is hardly going to endear the west to them is it? It is an impossible situation now but one that could have been avoided, or at least lessened

The processing staff are long gone and thats why the last civilian flight was last night; Pen is still waiting for his plane to arrive btw :(

Tbh, the army could bloody check British passports for all I care, they are as trained on security matters as some of the border control staff I’ve met over the years, there will have been some mobile system that they used to check things and that could still be used. And for the British passport holders, if they could get out of the country ok, then I’m sure the passport would scan back fine. 🤷🏻‍♀️
But not all civilian flights have clearly gone have they unless he’s joined back up in the last few hours…. Like i said, I’m waiting to hear who else gets on his plane, unless it’s a cargo plane and he’s sitting with the pilot. A chartered flight has seats for people still. So he’s either loading it with soldiers, or it’s empty. Check the passports with some sort of remote system and get it loaded.
But I’m sure Pen will be fine. Joe got the bad guy, he said this morning. And he’s sat what is now a military hold point with loads of trained soldiers like he was, and will be more protected then anyone, not his former staff or the people in the tit filled canal or hiding in cellars.

Sky news is saying his plane has arrived

Charter flight for ex-Royal Marine and rescue animals arrives in Kabul

Pen Farthing has been trying to evacuate up to 200 dogs and cats from Afghanistan for days, dubbed Operation Ark.

It was reported earlier that a charter flight for Mr Farthing was delayed leaving Karachi in Pakistan.

However, Sky News understands the aircraft has now arrived in Kabul.

Its crazy saying we have the head guy, I would expect we just have one head guy in any other army, we know AlQueda didn’t vanish when they got Bin Laden…… the next in command just steps up.
this just feels attritional now and we will back within the year…..
