I have made no point petal. I just answered your question. I have no point to make to the likes of you.
Ah yes, the lack of argument of someone who hates the belief system of half the planet. Well done. Enjoy your prejudices. I hope Northern Ireland recovers but with recent events and these kinds of attitudes I won't hold out hope.

Just switched on the news. What even is this press conference in Kabul?

Sky don't seem to have someone to translate more than 5% of it

The Taliban appear to be controlling all access points to Kabul airport now 😢
it is just terrifying , I bet they stop letting people who have cooperated with the west out. I have so much respect for the british diplomat who has stayed to help them with visas

I have been following Pen's accounts on what's happening with the animal shelter and his family/staff. Disgraceful and clearly very poorly planned stuff from the Western military

I genuinely find it hard to believe that whoever signed off on this just put faith into the Afghan army to fight the Taliban while also predicting them to lose after a certain period of time

I will say, it does bring up an interesting conversation on the Western ideals of human rights and general intervention in countries with completely different cultures/societies to us

Sky really are News Lite but genuinely what is the point of this stream without a translator or commentary of some sort.

edit; finally.

Do they have an actual clue how to run a country?
I'm imagining a venn diagram of capturing a country and running a country and the circles don't even touch

They're telling government workers to return to work aren't they?

Beyond odd that they didn't have a translator all ready.

They sound almost reasonable don’t they, women to have rights “under Islamic law”. Hmm. I bet it’s men who interpret that law right? And enforce it.

I am reading the rolling guardian coverage, they just seem hypocritical, media will be free but unable to be "unislamic"

To what end?

I mean I think that is what will happen but why on earth?
I don't think these people care about "running" a country. It's not their purpose at all. Their sole purpose was to gain the monopoly of the country to apply their understanding of religious principle at a grand scale. They believe it is their role to make everyone abide by their understanding of religious principles even if this means burning a country to the ground. It's about religion winning.

The fact that the Afghan military didn't even bother to put up a fight when they've been trained for this type of scenario is even more saddening, but not surprising at all.

There is no way the Taliban is not going to be brutal. Clarissa Ward was talking to them yesterday in Kabul and they were chanting "death to America" and saying that "jidhad will rule the world." They are a bunch of brainwashed lunatics.

Tbf to them it's not like many people would know what to do with a country once they capture it, even the politicians we have right now would be toast without civil servants and other employees. Also worth noting that outside the 'leader' circle a lot of the fighters will be in their early 20s which is crazy to think about

It's interesting that they're saying that women will be given more freedom this time around and that the Taliban has generally shifted from what it was 20 years ago. Whether that will actually be the case remains to be seen though, I read an article yesterday speculating that some areas may be safer than others depending on who's in charge and whether the leaders want complete uniformity in everything

Also really not getting Reddit's hype about Clarissa Ward. She's press and is therefore untouchable to a certain extent at the moment, especially when the cameras are on. It's unthinkable to be asking someone from the Taliban questions about women but at the same time, it's really not the same as a random woman doing the same 🤷‍♀️

I think if you take a country you should know how to run it. So no tbf’s to them from me, no.

I keep dwelling on healthcare.

I would never trust them based on past experience regardless, but already they are showing that women will be treated awfully, when Clarissa was on tv she was made to step back as she is a woman, they are enforcing women wearing burkas/hijabs, and I read yesterday that they were forcing immams to give information about unmarried women and children and taking them from their homes
