Speaking of iPlayer - the coverage is all over the place. I started watching the final, but they only showed the top few skaters, probably not thinking anyone lower in the rankings would medal, and it ended up cutting out the gold medal performance. So then I had to look for a different video (the 'Extra' coverage) which actually showed the earlier performances. The titles are unhelpful too because they don't always list the sports that are covered in each video. :cautious:

I've mostly watched all the action on TNT or Discovery+. I like listening to Steve Cram & the box room boys 😂 commentary & I'm sure I miss some exciting interviews etc but the beeb just seems so dire.

I want to be one of the ice fillers for the speed skating 😂 that sounds like a mint job
You don't see it on TV, but they also zoom in to pick up and replace markers that have been knocked out of place. When they aren't doing that they are stood in a corner seemingly at risk of a speed skater coming flying towards them blades in air at any point, no thank you.

I think it depends what you want from the coverage. I don't really know much about any of these sports so I'm more than happy for the Beeb to just decide what I need to see and tell me lots about it but I can see if you just want the action it would be so annoying.

Have we all moved on from the men's figure skating? I'm catching up on iplayer and omg the performances were pretty bad for an Olympics final! So many falls. I was really happy for Shaidorov though. He looked stunned when he realised he was getting gold. 😆 Adorable reactions from the medallists.

I felt sorry for Malinin. He was hyped so much and that's got to add pressure. This might be an odd reference, but if anyone's read Song of Achilles by Madeleine Miller, he totally reminded me of Achilles. The 'golden' athlete but unfortunately all the hubris as well.

I was irrationally (and unfairly) happy that Malinin didn't win, I do t like his routines and find the jumps jar with the routine. Seems a cocky type too which doesn't help. Very happy with the result.

I think he's young and will learn a lot from this. I thought the fact that he showed up to watch the pairs event probably says a lot about his character. I would still be under a duvet sobbing.

The last guy in the slalom who skied out and has gone stomping off near to the woods after throwing his poles and removing his skis 😆 I shouldn’t laugh as he is heartbroken but it just made me laugh seeing him stomp off.

I thought it was even more funny after the previous comment about sobbing under a duvet 😂 a duvet of snow right 😂😂

I’m equally feeling awful and cringing for McGrath. Can’t imagine that level of frustration but watching him storm off and lay in the snow it’s hard not to giggle. Slipping and stumbling on his way back down as well…make it stop 😅🙈

Poor dude. I feel a bad for laughing as my dad said he lost his grandad on the day of the opening ceremony so that and skiing out when he was on for gold is definitely a devastating time. I’m not laughing at his pain, it’s just him stomping off in his boots and slipping and then just laying there… we have all had days where we have stomped off like that or cried in bed, just not on TV streaming to the entire world.

He lobbed his poles over the fence first whilst the Swiss guy stood there celebrating. Its probably best he walked away to clear his mind

Someone said that Steve Cram doesn't know much about curling but always remembers about the hammer rule and mentions it all the time and now I can't not hear it :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I haven’t seen a huge amount of curling but both times Steve Cram has said something about the tactics or what he’d do next and the woman alongside him has said no, that’s not what you’d do!

The interesting conversation I’ve seen is whether he will be able to keep his “top dog” position for the next couple of years as the other men improve and new blood gets introduced from the current jun

Seems that the Olympics have gone very well for a few men particularly and they could be looking to contend for the medals in coming years too

He’s not completely unbeatable

The weather at the Big Air ramp looks absolutely horrific! I’m not sure if the event is going ahead.

Have been enjoying Matt Weston’s many memes on Instagram. Sports personality of the year is sewn up 😄
