She did well, but Democrats are really talking up just how well she did. But it looks good for her if she keeps improving at this rate.

Don’t blame me I voted for Nikki Haley in the primaries! 😂

IMO Trump will win; he galvanized the traditional evangelical base to worship him. It is bizarre. It’s a cult. They think this rum bag is the answer and treat him like Jesus.

I think he and Harris are both amoral rum, so I’m not voting for either of them.

Evangelical's tend not to vote (they put the election 'in god's hands)'. So they really aren't a group to worry about. Suburban women are a key demographic in this election. Young women are also important that's why I am tearing my hair out waiting for Taylor Swift to endorse Kamala. As crazy as it sounds, Taylor could be a factor.

I can't agree with your assertion that Harris is 'amoral rum'. Of course, you're entitled to your opinion and that's why I love Tattle! :)

One of the great failures of the paid-for media is the normalization of Donald's clear pychopathy*, it's frankly a disgrace. Ratings (money) over impartial information is one of the most destructive elements currently in our society. News has become 'infotainment' or just opinion. A news channel should simply present the information and let the audience decide. It's quite simple. But that rarely happens now.

*( Psychopathy is a neuropsychiatric disorder marked by deficient emotional responses, lack of empathy, and poor behavioral controls, commonly resulting in persistent antisocial deviance and criminal behavior).

I actually worked in politics, did a history and political science degree, so that’s my background
:) and what is very interesting is the fact that the Republican party back in the 70s went after the evangelical voting block. All the fundies I know vote, and they generally love Trump. It’s like they replaced their worship of God and Jesus with him. His rallies are like their church services, it’s a cult.

Another thing is that Trump was given so much airtime during 2016 because the Democrats thought he would be essentially a Pied Piper candidate, easy to beat because he is such a freaking lunatic. So much air time = free advertising, and then of course, the problem with the GOP allowed way too many people to run in the beginning. I think it also ties into what you said, but entertainment, we see these debates, the election, as my team versus your team, as pure entertainment versus the reality of politics and policy, the outcome of elections. It’s gotten even worse with 24/7 media and social media imo. Like you said, it normalizes so much and there isn’t zero civility these days because of his behaviors, becoming normalized, and even encouraged in some circles as opposed to that sort of behavior being shameful…

I worked for the GOP, but I left, like a lot of people of people did, in 2016. So I am politically disenfranchised and generally vote third-party. I used to live and grew up in a very blue state, and now I live in a very red state, so my votes never mean much of anything anyway… but it’s my vote, and so many women gave up so much to give me that right to vote, but I feel like it’s wrong to not do it.

Where did you study? You don't have to say if you don't want. I'm in the UK but did a year abroad in the US studying the same degree as you. I acuallY had a chance to go to Georgetown or Berkeley, but couldn't afford the fee's!!! See ... they only let working-class people go SO FAR!!! :) :cautious:

I went to a pretty small university! I applied to a few UK universities for a study abroad program and didn't end up doing it, to my regret! I have family over there so visit often tho :)

Georgetown and Berkeley, oh goodness, that's amazing though! So so expensive. I'm a Californian - even going to a UC or CSU (state university) can be incredibly expensive nowadays.

It is fun to nerd out here a bit even if I am so done with politics I don't even know what I think anymore and just want civility and sanity back please 🤣

I'm no 'Swifty' by any means, but read her message and I got a funny feeling in my little willy. 😬 I like she signed-off with 'childless cat lady'. Waaagh! :ROFLMAO:

It looks like Kamala performed well and got under Trump's skin. I actually think she's more impressive in debates than in giving speeches, where she seems a bit wooden.

Trump definitely came across as unhinged. Not that that will dissuade a single Trump voter, but that says more about them than him.

Is that supposed to be big or clever? Doesn't look it to me, just looks like a cringey and very planned technique that someone's rehearsed their performing automaton to do.

She going to do that when she's facing off with Putin or Xi Jinping? They'll just laugh at her.

Oh well, if this bag of nothing is really what US voters want and the best they can find ... have fun I guess.

I don’t think that many people think Kamala Harris is a GREAT candidate. However, she’s the candidate and hopefully the next President.
It’s a very low bar, but calling her a “bag of nothing” when she’s up against a racist, treasonous, lying, convicted rapist is a hell of a choice.

I heard a journalist say her weakness was that she had a tendency to waffle which makes me wonder if they just don't even listen to Trump.

Well to be fair she didn’t say a word about bacon, wind farms sending whales doolally or praise Hannibal Lecter so, you know…

It really becomes clear how the nazis were able to get a foothold when you see all the trump enablers and acquiescers about.

should maybe dig into who hitlers main opponent was at the time. Maybe he had a limp or something

She is though. What has she done or achieved since being VP, other than give the same speech over and over?

If she wins it's because she was fast-tracked into place after the mad scramble of Sleepy Joe finally falling apart, and they're only getting away with it because Trump is so awful too. She hasn't earned her place as President, she's just literally "less bad than the other one". That doesn't mean that I can't criticise her. For me the "hell of a choice" is to celebrate and praise Kamala Harris just because she's "not Trump". I presume people are going to go dolally over celebrating her as "First Female President" and "First Black President" etc, but she'll also be "President of Last Resort" and I just don't get why people think that's a good thing.

Don’t let perfect stand in the way of good. Don’t let good stand in the way of OK. OK is better than the truly awful.

if, when it comes down to it, you prefer Trump to Harris, well 🤷‍♀️

Well I’d say it’s an achievement for a woman of colour to be appointed VP in the first place.
She’s been the Senator for California, and Attorney General of California and San Francisco.
What exactly did Mike Pence achieve when he was VP ? How did he earn his place?

Look, I get it, I really do. She’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, far from it. And if there was a better candidate then I do think she’d be found wanting in many areas. But there isn’t.
But I do think that bearing in mind the alternative, anyone who thinks that she’d be worse for America in particular and the world in general than Trump has to be genuinely insane.
