The whole thing makes me so angry. As someone who came from a council estate, experienced real tragedies, leading to lifelong complex PTSD and a combination of grief, guilt, a series of breakdowns, managed to get to university, and somehow lived my life without becoming an attention seeking, self absorbed, grifting and entitled piece of toxic bullshit, I really struggle with the fact that we live in a world where people of this calibre are taken seriously, given media support, and even published without due diligence. Sadly, social media has allowed individuals like Taylor to not only proliferate, but gain very large followings, often of vulnerable and easily malleable people, lost or struggling women, looking for a voice that speaks to and for them, and empathises with their pain. Instead, they latch on to this vampire, leaching them of their awareness and their money, promising them that the answers to their problems are to be found in a sensationalised, badly written, "lightly fictionalised" (to stave off legal consequences) self help guide. A guide offering no advice, no links to professional organisations or charities specialising in matters of stalking, cyber or otherwise; just a call to shut down a gossip site, using outrageous lies to stop people having a forum to call out her (& other twats) crap. No call to shut down the truly toxic, mega powerful, misogynist giants of social media, because obviously she wouldn't want to take on the power and unimaginable wealth of the Musks of this world; but somehow, by lying, and banging on about her "professional qualifications", she believes she can get enough people, and the government, to help in her crusade to "protect women", to save vulnerable children from committing suicide after reading the terrible content on tattle.life.
She garners clicks and sales by claiming her very important books have somehow gone missing, that the might of the dark web (8 red wine drinking, middle class women, apparently planning her murder over zoom calls, at least when they can hear the plan over the noises of their malfunctioning dishwashers) is out to get her and ultimately stop her from single handedly saving the world.
I don't know about you, but I'm breaking out in awe at the staggering intellect and incredible reach of this great saviour of our time. I pay no attention to the naysayers quoted below:
"Just plain nuts" - Sigmund Freud
"A miasma of lunatic alibis" - Carl Jung
"Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" - Middle of the Road
"What the fuck is this?" - a reader after perusing the first paragraph of this magnum opus.
"Is she for real?" - William Shakespeare
"Beam me up, Scotty". - Captain James T. Kirk
