These influencers are just pissing me off now with their unrealistic portrayal of the early days of motherhood… I had a really shit time as a first time mother, third degree tears, a baby that never slept and screamed 24/7 for the first year, colic, reflux, absolute torture! That baby is now 3 years old and it’s only now that I’m starting to feel like myself again… I know my experience was probably on the extreme end of difficult but these women are doing a total disservice to their following by portraying everything as “perfect, wonderful, a dream, so in love, my life finally makes sense” etc. etc.

Sometimes being a new mother is a fucking shitshow and you know what, thats’s ok!! It doesn’t mean I love my child any less than someone who had an easy time of it. I felt totally robbed of the lovely newborn stage everyone talks about, there was no love at first sight instant bond, it was hell! I have an amazing bond with my child now but that experience will never be repeated and I’m firmly one and done because I can’t see myself going through that ever again…

I already unfollowed Joanne Larby and Terrie McEvoy because they made me feel shit about myself when compared with their “wonderful” experiences and now I’ll be hitting unfollow on this eejit too… I never comment on these threads but she has seriously triggered me in the last few days!!

I’m a long time lurker and I don’t usually comment but this is just madness. I know Randy years and she was the first to look at me like I was diseased when my incredibly unplanned pregnancy went public back in the day..

I’ve been in social settings where due to my work she has attempted to talk to me and I’ve blanked her noticeably because I have no time for that bullshit. When asked by colleagues why? I explained straight what a two faced judgemental wench she is and was met with a collection of similar “she is a cow and here is why” stories.


So I’m not even ashamed to admit that while I can sympathize with her ailments, I also know she hasn’t a NOTION what is about to hit her when she is hit with a needy newborn. And that’s just a normal newborn.

I genuinely wonder what will happen if she gets a colicky baby or a baby with tongue tie or something. She has zero life experience or depth of character to pull from and honestly I don’t think she will cope with the demands a baby will place. I don’t know “himself” so I’ve no comment to make on him but from what I’ve read here I doubt he will be much help or support to her.

I never forgot the sneering and the shitty comments made to me as a single mother. Never fails to amaze me how the circle of life keeps turning.
