I am widowed with one 17yo son. I often get comments about why me and my late husband only had the one child. The truth is that I had pre-eclampsia and was fearfully ill and our son was born full term, but with no body fat, I produced no milk, but was rather shamed by the NCT mafia for bottle feeding. My son was dx with autism at 4 and ADHD at 6. I was later dx at 39 with autism, so in retrospect, more children would have been a) a struggle and b) almost certainly autistic too.
I'm always happy to be as open as possible and share here on Tattle as it's a nice place, unlike Mumsnet!? Women have it tough - if we choose to have kids then there's the expense and worry of childcare, your career is compromised. I worked part-time for years. If a woman doesn't want children then she feels as though she has to explain why.
