I do feel this Daddy’s-fame-rinser deserves his own thread. Recently he’s:

- tweeted how happy he was that a fellow journalist has died at a fairly young age & that she should go ‘off to hell’
- then deleted and reposted the tweet removing the reference to hell and replacing it with laughter
- he lied about why he’s gleeful she’s dead (he said she mocked his family, she did not, in fact, she only ever tweeted about him twice)
- posted an article in the times where he talks INCREDIBLY inappropriately about his three year old daughter and his holiday with her being the ‘sexiest’ he’s ever had (vomit)
- admitted to setting up a random Twitter account to tweet horrific anti Semitic abuse at his official account

If this was anyone else there would be uproar. But no,this third rate writer has a thrice weekly column in the Times!

Can anyone else not stand this odious little man?!

Apparently the journalist who died had the temerity to point out his inherited privilege in a couple of tweets. She hardly "trolled" him or said vile things about him and his family. His tweets about her death were disgusting and he should be fired.

So glad you all agree that this odious, cretinous, connection-leveraging knobpiece deserves his own thread. There are loads of celebs on here who are hated that I don’t mind, fair enough, each to their own. But I’ve yet to see anyone who likes this man!

He was either ‘Giles who?’ Or ‘that one off the cooking telly’ and generally he was just Alan Coren’s son having a bit of a media career off his back.

As soon as anyone sees the vile and frankly creepy things he says then they rightly hate him. So why is he on Twitter? At least he makes money from the creepy / racist stuff in the Times.

He’s so very disliked he literally married his stalker, who admits she submits to him and raises his children in exchange for a big house, connection laden career and a family she can spend all the Coren pennies on. Giles himself says the only woman he’s ever loved is Debbie Harry?!

I wonder if he drinks too much (or sniffs) as he tends to get into profanity laden spats peppered with typos late at night, many of which he later deletes.

Far too many of his insults and articles involve ‘kiddy fiddling’ or inappropriate suggestions including r*pe and violence - either he’s too thick to think of a witty retort so goes for the lowest denominator/ shock value, or the met police really should be having a look at his hard drive just in case.

Bravo and thanks to those who have complained & cancelled their Times subs! This behaviour should never ever be allowed, excused or rewarded.

I think this whole issue is blowing up rather than over, as Giles Coren presumably hoped it would since he has made no acknowledgement or apology. I cancelled my Times subscription yesterday and the person on the phone said they had been given a script to read off because so many people were cancelling their subscriptions because they were appalled by Giles Coren laughing at Dawn Foster’s death. I’ve also hear there have been lots of complaints to the BBC and the Press Complaints Commission.

Dearie me. He really is pathetic. I was reading about him having an account where he masqueraded as a Polish bloke. He is obviously so off his trolley. I'm surprised the Sunday Times give him house room. Accusing a man of kiddy fiddling is just the pits. Let's hope his car gets stolen again - soon.
I mean, if he wants to accuse anyone of being a kiddy fiddler, he could start with the husband of a fellow Times journo, who has actually been convicted for it.

I try to avoid at all cost watching or listening to anything involving this twit but a month or two ago Times Radio played a very lengthy extract of his and his wife's podcast, no doubt trying to tempt us to subscribe to it.
The levels of smugness were off the scale. They just bored on and on to each other about nothing but seemed to think they were the height of wit and intelligence. Odious.
Why does every smug-arse couple nowadays think we want to hear a podcast about them? It seems to be a trend now. I can't think of anything more tedious than listening to them bang on about their privileged lives while throwing in boring in-jokes.

I’m so glad you started this thread @AlwightDallin, from the little I know of him I’ve always thought he seemed like a prick, but his tweets about Dawn Foster were genuinely shocking, he’s a vile, sick man. Dawn Foster was by all accounts a really good person and a fantastic journalist, but because he had some petty grudge against her he decided to tweet this just days after she passed away. (I’ve put the tweets behind a spoiler because they really are just horrible and twisted).

Both he and his sister think that they are very much cleverer and funnier than they actually are.

He's a nasty, talentless prick.

I honestly dont understand how Giles Coren - whose behaviour on social media is abusive and cruel and would be prosecutable if he did this stuff face to face - still has such a seemingly good career, including a cushy presenting job with a BBC programme. How is this possible? It astounds me and just goes to show how far we still have to go in pushing back against misogyny, nepotism, ignorance and the elite enabling the elite.
Did anyone see that article he wrote about holidaying with his toddler daughter? It was one of the creepiest things I’ve read that wasn’t in a horror story. I can’t believe it was published, still.

To sink to laughing at the death of a 33 year old because she once said you got your job because of your family connections is a new level of bitterness.

Giles obviously has some serious issues he needs to see a therapist for rather than taking to twitter.

What a civil response from Dawn Foster's mother. He should be utterly ashamed of himself and should be making personal contact with the family to beg for forgiveness.

I’ve loved his wife Esther’s writing for years, I think she’s hilarious. But I just can’t read her any more knowing she’s married to him and therefore must think his behaviour is acceptable!? I really don’t get it, I’d love the be a fly on the wall in their house.

He has serious problems - seem to remember he goes off at the deep end whenever anyone mentions his father/nepotism/how his father was actually talented. He had some falling out with one of his father's friends about it I think? The venom which comes out of him is appalling and disgraceful, he should have been sacked several times over by now. Dawn Foster was uniquely and independently talented and devoted to exposing the hideous inequalities in our society. Nobody deserves to be talked about like that, least of all her. I feel for his kids. Why is his wife still with him?

My friend is a uni friend of Richard Ayoade who still crosses paths with him at times and he is a truly awesome guy. He (Richard) speaks really highly of David & Victoria so Giles is no doubt a twatty outliner from the clever and nice genes.
And, given that he's married to Laurence Fox's sister, Richard would know all about rich, entitled and overprivileged twats.

I met him 20 years ago when he (and I!) were both single, and tried to fancy him as he had cash and I always went for paupers. Failed. He really is very physically unattractive in person - small and weasley.
